Howling at the exploding stars

Star Wolves 3: Civil War, a tactical strategy/RPG where you fight your way through the surrounding anarchy, is now available, DRM-free on GOG.com, with a 50% launch discount.

The thing about large-scale space conflicts is that, even though they look cool, they usually leave behind a lot of space debris, crippled participating factions, and chaos. This is now the reality of Star Wolves 3: Civil War, where everything is up for grabs among looters, pirates, opportunists, and black market entrepreneurs. You are free to build your own team, follow a non-linear path of missions and open exploration, and take advantage of the anarchy as best suits your needs. The customization options on your ships and companions will further enhance your tactical approach and help you reach deeper into space, where a lone wolf might not dare venture.

Face the intriguing anarchy of space as you head a pack of Star Wolves 3: Civil War, DRM-free on GOG.com. The 50% launch discount will last until April 26, 2:59 PM UTC.

docbear1975: Already bought the series on Fireflower, but it's still good to see it here on GOG. Fun game, if a bit frustrating at times.

IronArcturus: So is Star Wolves "3" really a sequel? I've read that it acts more like an expansion pack. Was the gameplay improved?
To me, it seems like a sequel and not an expansion. The controls are similar to the first two. To me (and this maybe because I'm terrible at RTS games) the difficulty of the missions is a bit unbalanced. Missions either seem to be too easy or too hard. (Again, this may be due to my lack of skill when it comes to RTS). But, overall, it's a fun game.
Strategy + RPG elements
Sounds cool.

blotunga: So. Where is Rage of Mages? Now that we have the "sequel", Evil Islands...
avatar
ShadowWulfe: Is Evil Islands a true sequel? Island nations connected by portals and all that?
From what I read it's basically Rage of Mages 3.
I can't resist the launch discount.

Mentions about the Necromancers and the final boss of RoM1? I loved those two games, and all the little side quests.
wish fulfilled!

apehater: should i get it right now or wait for a better discount?
Scam it,scammer.
Sounds interesting, I vaguely remember the title but can't remember why. And for three bucks...heck, I've played some dodgy Russian scifi jobs in my time but none that were so bad they were worth less than the glass of cheap wine I'm currently drinking.
I looked at this game's screenshots and saw that it was about big space ships, traversing the endless wastes of intrestellar space, while shooting space lasers and engaging in space-dogfights in SPACE.

Unfortunately the reviews are less than stellar.
Ba dum tss
Get it? stellar...

Tough crowd.

Impaler26: Already have the game on Steam so i'll pass. :D
I've re-purposed your comment

"Already have the game on Steam so i'll pass" "over my money to GOG for a copy here".

I think you will find that far more effective. ;P

I quite liked Rage Of Mages 2 when I played it years ago. And also a game I finished (never happens much these days, no time).

I guess we will see if one day the steam valve is shut off and you can't get to your games. Could happen, though currently not likely. After all you are a subscriber not an owner as such.

So what? I don't know if i'll still play games in a few years. :D

And the Star Wolves games are not much fun to play for me anyway so no words on a screen will make me buy them again. :P
