<i>Star Wars</i>&trade;: Rogue Squadron 3D, an award-winning arcade take on X-Wing action, is available on Windows - for the first time in digital distribution - on GOG.com!

<i>Star Wars</i>&trade;: Rogue Squadron 3D turned out to be a sleeper hit, an enormous one at that. Originally released for Windows and Nintendo 64, it was lauded as an immense technical achievement in terms of graphics and a smooth, responsive gameplay experience, eventually outselling any industry estimates by manyfold. Rogue Squadron forsook the realistic simulator approach of the X-Wing series, opting instead for an accessible, visceral arcade experience. The game offers plenty of bonus goodies for Star Wars™ fans, including re-enactments of the famous Death Star trench run and Battle of Hoth, as well as plenty of good old-fashioned unlocks, including a pilotable Millenium Falcon, AT-ST, and even a 1969 Buick Electra.

Become Skywalker's elite in <i>Star Wars</i>&trade;: Rogue Squadron 3D, a visceral dogfighting experience on Windows - for the first time in digital distribution - on GOG.com!

damien: great release! before anyone asks, how is this compared to the N64 version?

F4LL0UT: It's a really good port. I think unlike Shadows of the Empire this one's PC port doesn't have any special new stuff (SotE had FMV cutscenes specially made for the PC version) but it's in my experience absolutely solid work and extremely playable even with keyboard controls.

Edit: Correction, I forgot about one thing which I believe is exclusive to the PC version. A patch added the Naboo Fighter as a playable ship (only usable when replaying already beaten missions - obviously the Naboo Fighter does not belong in the old trilogy's und thus Rogue Squadron's timeframe). I haven't checked whether the GOG version has it but I would be surprised if it didn't.
I don't know if it was a complicated code or gameshark cheat, but I DO remember having the naboo fighter in my n64 version. I kno it was either a cheat code or gameshark or both.

My PC CD rom version allows codes for the Naboo Fighter, the Falcon, and a few others that escape me. I don't know if they'll work in the GOG version but they should. Give me a second and I'll track them down and post them in here.

IronArcturus: Thanks for the info! So I guess there is no config file to edit it for widescreen?
Actually there is a separate executable in the install directory called ROGUE.EXE which looks like it was the original installer / setup program. GOG have bypassed this with their shortcut which goes straight to the main executable. In there you can switch between D3D and Glide.

I'm guessing that if you use Glide mode and put your own copy of nGlide into the installation directory then you'll be able to fiddle about with all the options nGlide gives you.

I've not tried this as I'm happy with the defaults (display and controller) but I guess it could break your game so only tinker if you're happy to re-install from scratch in the event it breaks!

Interesting! I wonder if there is a way to specify certain resolutions with D3D mode, since Glide can only run in Fullscreen mode.
Hah, knew the name looked familiar: I remember playing this on the N64, way back. Not the biggest Star Wars fan, but as far as I remember this was pretty fun.

There were several good Star Wars games for N64 and Gamecube, actually. Don't know if all of them also had PC versions.

Okay I was kind of wrong. The Naboo fighter requires an addon,

And here it is. :D

1.3, which was exclusive to a select few boxed copies (i.e, never released as a standalone patch). It includes the Naboo Starfighter.
if you could fix this game, I have faith in you can do it whit Starwars Episode I Racer I tried EVERYTHING and nothing worked...

Do you know if there is a way to manually edit the D3D resolutions?

Ditto. I've mentioned this countless times in the forum and it kills me just thinking about it. Racer is my all time favorite SW game and I have been everywhere and tried everything to no avail.

Can you imagine hooking up some MP with the folks here? Imagine playing the game with people I actually like! :D

Oh yeah, I always keep forgetting that this game existed while it was a remarkably good sci-fi racer. A digital release of Episode I Racer would be absolutely awesome. Heck, I'd even appreciate a re-release of The Phantom Menace. I have quite fond memories of that one as well.
