Star Wars™: Rogue Squadron 3D, an award-winning arcade take on X-Wing action, is available on Windows - for the first time in digital distribution - on GOG.com!

Star Wars™: Rogue Squadron 3D turned out to be a sleeper hit, an enormous one at that. Originally released for Windows and Nintendo 64, it was lauded as an immense technical achievement in terms of graphics and a smooth, responsive gameplay experience, eventually outselling any industry estimates by manyfold. Rogue Squadron forsook the realistic simulator approach of the X-Wing series, opting instead for an accessible, visceral arcade experience. The game offers plenty of bonus goodies for Star Wars™ fans, including re-enactments of the famous Death Star trench run and Battle of Hoth, as well as plenty of good old-fashioned unlocks, including a pilotable Millenium Falcon, AT-ST, and even a 1969 Buick Electra.

Become Skywalker's elite in Star Wars™: Rogue Squadron 3D, a visceral dogfighting experience on Windows - for the first time in digital distribution - on GOG.com!
Sweet! Now everyone can see what Licurg and I have been yapping about :P

Here's to hoping someone - finally - figures out a draw-distance hack.
I wrote up a post in an old thread about the game a while ago - it'd be interesting to see how much of that still applies.

Elmofongo: Is this game playable with PS3/360 controller. This game came out on N64 aswell so playing with a Controller works?
I'm not sure about the GOG version (yet), but when I tried using a PS3 controller with the retail version of the game (using MotionInJoy DS3 Tool) I had to set the game to default joystick controls (it wouldn't let me assign buttons, only axes), then use the DS3 Tool to assign the physical buttons I wanted to the numbered buttons in-game.

Glowsquid: Not quite. Battle for Naboo also got a PC release.
Battle of Naboo is not really part of Rogue Squadron series. It is more or less just a spiritual successor (?) of these games.
Never played this before but what the hell going to play it tonight.

Wasn't it more or less just a reskin of the Rogue Squadron series? It was developed by Factor 5 as well, right?

Ric1987: I will likely pick this up unless it's a bad port. Pretty sure I can get the N64 cart cheap if it is.
The port is better than the n64 version in any way, I remember it playing it at 1280x1024 on my Pentium II with a TNT2 m64 with a proper joystick (cockpit camera of course) instead of that controller thingy the n64 used.

I just hope it works better than my old CD-rom version, it has a tendency to crash on my win7 x64 PC.

opeter2: Absolutely. This is the only game in the series, that is outside of the Nintendo Consoles.

Fesin: Yeah, but I own the GC titles. So does it offer anything I can't get from those two games?
You can play it with a proper joystick and high resolution instead of with a gamepad at 480p or whatevere crappy console resolution the GC supported.

Yes, that information is actually true. They used the same engine.
This is AWESOME!!!
Incredible release.

I loved this back on N64, I remember coming home from school and playing this back in 1998, trying to achieve a higher commander rank... oh the good old days. Strangely, I don't remember liking the GameCube sequel nearly as much.
Nice one! Now all GOG.com needs is Episode 1 Racer and I'll be set. :)
This is a pleasant surprise. I played it on my old N64, and i spend hours unlocking the gold medals.
Fuck yeah ! :D
Does this game work with an Xbox 360 controller?

I think it's the same as the N64 version, so it is theoretically compatible, and it would be weird if that wasn't the case in practice.
