Star Wars™: Rogue Squadron 3D, an award-winning arcade take on X-Wing action, is available on Windows - for the first time in digital distribution - on GOG.com!

Star Wars™: Rogue Squadron 3D turned out to be a sleeper hit, an enormous one at that. Originally released for Windows and Nintendo 64, it was lauded as an immense technical achievement in terms of graphics and a smooth, responsive gameplay experience, eventually outselling any industry estimates by manyfold. Rogue Squadron forsook the realistic simulator approach of the X-Wing series, opting instead for an accessible, visceral arcade experience. The game offers plenty of bonus goodies for Star Wars™ fans, including re-enactments of the famous Death Star trench run and Battle of Hoth, as well as plenty of good old-fashioned unlocks, including a pilotable Millenium Falcon, AT-ST, and even a 1969 Buick Electra.

Become Skywalker's elite in Star Wars™: Rogue Squadron 3D, a visceral dogfighting experience on Windows - for the first time in digital distribution - on GOG.com!

Shagwit: Has anyone else got to the main menu and been left with sound but a black screen?

Schwarzo: I've got the same problem. Do you guys know how to contact technical support or submit a ticket or something? Never had to do that with GOG before.
On the biottom of the page you have SUPPORT > Contact us. Just follow the instructions. Beware, the wintery week end is coming ;-)
I contact support, from what they told me they only validated Wired Xbox 360 controller, not the wireless one.

The more people contact them about it, the better I guess.
Shame that two of the highest-rated reviews are about the game not working well! (even with nGlide presumably included) Sadly I assume there's not much GOG can do aside from help people via Support. Rather reputation-denting, but I guess too many people (outside GOG) think GOG actually modify the source code and port games so they run flawlessly.

They do? I don't see anything like that. Are we looking at the same reviews?

Sorry, I guess it's just one on the main page. There's the "Incredibly Janky" review and "Completely Broken" on the second page.

NavyGuy2007: Anybody get a joystick working? I got it using nglide and it looks great, the configuration dialog menu will find my joystick but in game I cant assign anything, the menu wont detect anything.

DreadMoth: The game seems a bit inconsistent with joystick / controller support - I had the same issue as you when I tried to get a PS3 controller working with the game through MotionInJoy DS3 Tool (which acts as a generic DirectInput gamepad, I think), but today I tried using a Logitech Attack 3 joystick and it worked straight away, without any issues rebinding controls.
I'm trying to use a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro, works great in everything else including DosBox games just not Rogue Squadron for some reason. I submitted a support ticket, we'll see what happens.

Have you tried this?
"Go to the installation folder.
Set the compatibility mode for ROGUE SQUADRON.EXE to Windows 98 / Windows ME.
Launch a game and create user profile."

Note: I have not tested this myself because I don't own this version, but I am thinking about buying it.

Didn't think about that, gave it a shot and it worked for my joystick issue. Only downside is that the main menu runs slow under 98 compatability, not too bad considering the game play works great. I feel like a kid again!

A bit blocky on my big screen but still great....
A window mode would make this look so much better :)
Still just playing this again is fantastic ...

It is a little, nglide helps, the game looks far better in 3Dfx
For those who are having trouble with gamepads, I think it has something to do with the fact that the game's exe is set for Windows XP SP3 compatibility when the game is installed. By disabling compatibility mode, my Dualshock 4 was able to work again, without the game breaking or a slow menu. It maybe forced through the registry, as the option to disable it was greyed out. So, by changing it for all users (requires administrative rights), I was able to disable it.

Is there a way to get the game to work with D3D instead of nGlide?

It works with D3D by default.
