Star Wars™: Rogue Squadron 3D, an award-winning arcade take on X-Wing action, is available on Windows - for the first time in digital distribution - on GOG.com!

Star Wars™: Rogue Squadron 3D turned out to be a sleeper hit, an enormous one at that. Originally released for Windows and Nintendo 64, it was lauded as an immense technical achievement in terms of graphics and a smooth, responsive gameplay experience, eventually outselling any industry estimates by manyfold. Rogue Squadron forsook the realistic simulator approach of the X-Wing series, opting instead for an accessible, visceral arcade experience. The game offers plenty of bonus goodies for Star Wars™ fans, including re-enactments of the famous Death Star trench run and Battle of Hoth, as well as plenty of good old-fashioned unlocks, including a pilotable Millenium Falcon, AT-ST, and even a 1969 Buick Electra.

Become Skywalker's elite in Star Wars™: Rogue Squadron 3D, a visceral dogfighting experience on Windows - for the first time in digital distribution - on GOG.com!

opeter2: The problem with Episode I Racer is the same as with Shadows of the Empire. DirectX library, that doesn't work outside of Windows 9x/Me.

But who knows ... maybe GOG have a magical patch for these.
What about software rendering? Isn't that what is used for all the other Star Wars Direct3D games?

IronArcturus: Can it work with OpenGL instead?
Good question, but to be honest I dont think so, since in that time most games were written for DirectX and if the developers fought it is worth to implement, they also had Glide or PowerVR support.

But finally DirectX won on Windows PCs.

One of the games from that era, that has similar problems, that wont work with never systems is/was VR Sports Powerboat Racing.

A fine game, sadly doesn't work on any modern OS. Not even 32-bit.

Today, we have OpenGL, DirectX, OpenVG, OpenCL ... Mantle? What do I know ...

This is why I wish there could be a "WindowsBox" program, much like the DOSBox program that GOG already uses.
Thanks GOG! This one is incredibly awesome. Can't wait for a bigger discount. :)
I'll definitely pick this up, after I finish all the X-wing / Tie Fighter series games I just picked up.
All I can think ab out now is getting those gold medals on Escape from Fest and Prisons of Kessel.
I never played the PC version, but if it plays the same as the N64 version (and it seems it does from other posts), anyone who enjoys arcade action will enjoy this. I remember playing this in high-res with the N64 memory expansion pak. Good times!
This and Shadows of the Empire are the best Star Wars games ever. Hope to see SotE next???
Cannot wait to get my hands on this game. Can't spare the money at the time, but soon enough, soon enough. Remember liking this game. This, Empire at War, Dark forces, and maybe another Star Wars game I'll have to get soon.

(That was weird, the account tab said I had a reply on this thread, and now I find nothing. Spooky.)

Anyone got a wireless 360 controller working? I'm on Win8.1 and it's not working. :( Quite unplayable with the mice
Anybody get a joystick working? I got it using nglide and it looks great, the configuration dialog menu will find my joystick but in game I cant assign anything, the menu wont detect anything.
Woohoo!! Loved this game, lost the CD a few years ago and was so diaapointed. Thank you Gog and lucasfilm/disney for releasing all these old classic!
Has anyone else got to the main menu and been left with sound but a black screen?

The game seems a bit inconsistent with joystick / controller support - I had the same issue as you when I tried to get a PS3 controller working with the game through MotionInJoy DS3 Tool (which acts as a generic DirectInput gamepad, I think), but today I tried using a Logitech Attack 3 joystick and it worked straight away, without any issues rebinding controls.

I've got the same problem. Do you guys know how to contact technical support or submit a ticket or something? Never had to do that with GOG before.
