darthspudius: If you struggled with that, you'll HATE the next level. I thought it controlled easy enough.

Novotnus: Yeah, I decided to stop at that asteroid field :) I'll try again today with fresh mind and fingers.
When I played it the first time, it took me a while to figure that I also had to avoid the grey asteroids (by moving the cursor to the opposite side of the screen).
So is this worth the full price?

I'm probably a bit biased, as these are among my favourite games, but they are well worth it if you can look past the graphics (and if you can't I suggest you take a look at Rogue Squadron instead).

Two words: Speeder Bikes.
That asteroid belt or that YT-1300 tunnel run were just warm-ups.

Ah sure, those were quite painful : \

I loved these, but:
- you must like rail shooters with FVMs.
- you must love SW.
- you own a joystick.
- nowadays the quality of some movie clips are horrible (unless they've been remastered).
- both games are quite hard, right from the first level.
- a few sections are a bit trial&error (ex: those in third person).

Unless you cannot resist, just wait for a promo.
(ps: check some LP video on Youtube)

Yeah I'll wait for a promo. I am a SW freak but I'm so loaded with other SW games right now.
Ahh, Rebel Assault, one of only 2 games I ever intentionally broke the CD because the game was so awful. The other was Millenia: Altered Destinies.

Are you a Star Wars fan? If you say 'yes' then I know the game must actually be that bad. XD

It's still fucking Star Wars. Just FMV. I've played Rebel Assault II recently and the first two chapters were a cakewalk (playing with mouse only). Not so much chapter 3, where you have to evade a lot of shit with your ship. Not sure if this was better with a joystick back then. AFAIK there are cheats for invincibility and stuff.
Wait for a sale and get it!

Where the hell were you on the 4th? I changed my avatar to a Cthulhu Storm Trooper and thought of all you people you would appreciate that! :P

And I was just making conversation, I'm going to get this either way.

Busy playing my games. Oh, the humanity!
are these games just an interactive experience of the movies or are there levels which aren't in the movies?

I can only speak for Rebel Assault II, but it didn't follow the movies at all. It's a lot of expanded-universe FMV cutscenes interspersed with short minigame-ish scenes. In one you fly a Tie Fighter through a canyon, in another you control a human and shoot Stormtroopers while dodging behind cover. Stuff like that. There are quite a few different gameplay scenes, and some of them can be incredibly difficult. I really liked the game back in the 90s--don't know how it holds up.

flying a tie fighter through a canyon is definitely not part of the movies. thanks
