Take command of the greatest Star Wars™ battles!

Star Wars™ Galactic Battlegrounds Saga, an RTS classic depicting major conflicts of the Star Wars™ films, is available for the first time in digital distribution on GOG.com!

Released in 2001, Star Wars™ Galactic Battlegrounds was the first Star Wars™ RTS to find success among critics and fans alike. The game's basic formula was a recipe for success. It employed tried and tested gameplay mechanics inspired by the critically acclaimed Age of Empires series (Star Wars™ Galactic Battlegrounds was developed on the very same engine, which contributed to its overall familiar feel), and brought them straight into the realm of Star Wars™, offering fans a brand new way to influence the major conflicts depicted in Star Wars™ films.

The package available here includes the Clone Campaigns expansion pack, which introduced a whole new campaign covering the start of the Clone Wars, with two extra playable factions (CIS and Galactic Republic) and a slew of additional units. In total, Star Wars™ Galactic Battlegrounds Saga includes an impressive eight playable factions, each with its own story-filled single player campaign.

Take direct command of the greatest movie battles in Star Wars™ Galactic Battlegrounds Saga, DRM-free on Windows - for the first time in digital distribution - on GOG.com!

Wan't to see the game in action? Here's Star Wars™ Galactic Battlegrounds Saga wit <hb>Quill18 in the Twitch.tv/GOGcom archive.

Now I see where 'PHOTON MAN' came from :-)
Just got it and the music and colors seem fine, though I didn't try any 'water' levels yet and the color of the cursor seems a little funky.

Tried a Team island map... AI is difficult even on easy, since the actually slaughter all their "Peasants" to make room for a huge army. Water looks fine. No color problems like in the hard copy version.

Insta-bought it! :D

Thanks for listening to my messages to get this game on GOG, and thanks even more for fixing the colour issues!

gandalfnho: Never played Force Commander, but always read about being bad, same about the 4X Star Wars - Rebellion
Rebellion is very decent. I still enjoy booting it up sometimes (and generally get my ass handed back by the AI because I'm careless and overconfident)

Just don't expect a classical 4x. It's more a "space guerrilla" game where each player runs around the other, trying to take out their leaders/production centers/fleets

Just played through the first 4/5 missions of the tutorial campaign and I'm loving it. I was never big on AoE, but for some reason I can totally get behind this reskin. Weird, huh? Anyway, it runs like a charm on my Win 8.1 lappie. I'm happy. :)
Digital release of Battlegrounds?!
Glory, glory, Hallelujah! All is forgiven GOG: past, present and future!

Get out of my head! I just did the same, and feel the same! Not really an RTS guy, but man Im really digging this. Which is odd, as I never play my copy of AoE II HD. Its quite strange.

Good after work game. Nice and relaxing.
I am sure I bought this when it was released, but I don't remember a thing about this game.

Edit: Watched some youtube videos, and I definitely own it on cd. I doubt I own the expansion though. Tempted to buy this now.

The ewoks always bugged me; not for being cute, but something about their involvement in the series never seemed kosher. Only this morning was I able to figure out why.

Will definitely be buying this. As a Star Wars fan its pretty fun, though it has its quirks. The flying units seem a little out of place if I remember correctly. X-Wings and TIE Fighters pretty much just hover over their targets I believe. No strafing runs in other words. Too bad they didn't hire Ensemble to do a proper RTS from the ground up rather than just reskinning AoE II, which at the time was my all-time favorite game. I guess this way they were guaranteed a game that was at least decent.
