Take command of the greatest Star Wars™ battles!

Star Wars™ Galactic Battlegrounds Saga, an RTS classic depicting major conflicts of the Star Wars™ films, is available for the first time in digital distribution on GOG.com!

Released in 2001, Star Wars™ Galactic Battlegrounds was the first Star Wars™ RTS to find success among critics and fans alike. The game's basic formula was a recipe for success. It employed tried and tested gameplay mechanics inspired by the critically acclaimed Age of Empires series (Star Wars™ Galactic Battlegrounds was developed on the very same engine, which contributed to its overall familiar feel), and brought them straight into the realm of Star Wars™, offering fans a brand new way to influence the major conflicts depicted in Star Wars™ films.

The package available here includes the Clone Campaigns expansion pack, which introduced a whole new campaign covering the start of the Clone Wars, with two extra playable factions (CIS and Galactic Republic) and a slew of additional units. In total, Star Wars™ Galactic Battlegrounds Saga includes an impressive eight playable factions, each with its own story-filled single player campaign.

Take direct command of the greatest movie battles in Star Wars™ Galactic Battlegrounds Saga, DRM-free on Windows - for the first time in digital distribution - on GOG.com!

Thank you so very much! I missed playing this game! It's literally my first rts game I have ever played, and I've been waiting for a long time to play this again.

Thanks a lot GOG!
BEST RTS EVER!

Run don't walk, to get this title! Well if you don't like RTS or Star Wars then don't; save your money for that Witcher crap. :P Those intellectuals of you out there, with no lives that live with your parents and keep POD racer schematics on your wall, then follow me to heaven! :D
this and command & conquer was the 2 RTS in the day that I played and later on after that age of empires and mythology <3 thanks GOG

Someone mentioned that this game is essentially Age of Empires with a Star Wars skin. So indirectly its closest thing we have for an Age of Empires games?
Can someone tell me if the background music is working in this game?

Because it had the John Williams music as Audio Tracks on CD but it actually never worked on newer OS-es (Windows XP and up).

That someone was me, and what I said was it's an AoE 2 with a SW wrapper. XD Yeah, it is.
Cool. Never played it. Wanted for ages. In other words: Bought.
Awesome, insta wishlist! :D

Yeah and that is correct information. It is just reskinned Age of Empires. Not even sure, that it is the second, maybe the first (AoE 1).

No the 2nd. You can man towers (can't do that in AoE 1) the VorNa (whatever) is identical to the relics of AoE 2 and all the formation buttons are the same just a different color.

Can't say whether or not the original game's music works as I've never played it before, but from 2 minutes of trying out a skirmish game, there's a distinctly Star Warsy music of high quality playing in the background.

Yes, you are right, totally forgot about these :)

THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Will buy it then, but for now I will wait until Thursday, to see what games will be in the 3rd Wave :)

Sorry if my last post was kind of pissy. My brain is still reeling here. XD I don't think you people comprehend what a SW freak I am. I have Episode 1-3 on DVD, still watch them, and still enjoy them, even thought they totally suck. XD

Oh why yes, I am single? How did you guess that? :P

Yeah, it's great. I really hope GOG fixes Dark Forces II with proper menus and background music playing, as opposed to the Steam version. That's something I'd definitely re-purchase just for the work put in.
