rjbuffchix: So it is just a pure coincidence you guys weren't advocating for these specific types of filters in the past? People may have made comments about "improve the catalog" or "improve search" in general, don't get me wrong, but to filter out specific types of games? I honestly don't remember ever seeing that suggested, until of course recently with the adult games.
Breja: I, for one, have been asking for such a feature for a long time. But yes - an influx of a large number of games of a, shall we say, very particular type that quite a number of users have simply no interest in, has simply made the lack of such a feature more problematic. If next we get a similar influx of sports games, with three new football games every week, it will make it even more pressing. I think that's perfectly reasonable.
Fair play; I am just noticing a disconnect, if not with you personally, then among other critics here. You weren't
all asking for these sort of filters specifically. I don't recall past posts of yours that asked for this but I take you at your word. (What else am I going to do, use the forum's search [dys]function? Ha-ha).
But yes, this is a consistent position, to want to filter out "all football games" or "all point-and-click" or indeed "all adult-rated content." I think it gets a little difficult to draw the line though as many of these games do have substantial gameplay or storytelling beyond the "offending" scenes in question, not unlike say The Witcher series.
Actually, that is a good example. The Witcher 2 EE beyond whatever mature content is in the game comes with a bonus goodie of "Playboy Triss" (or something of the sort) where the character is posing naked and provocatively. Assumedly, GOG does not want The Witcher games hidden behind a filter. How to resolve this?
fronzelneekburm: [snip, not related to my point below]
Just commenting as an aside I remember you were one of the biggest advocates for Grimoire to release here on GOG, which was a controversial release (I forget if it was that one or another that had a user tell me I should "die in a fire" essentially for my perceived sin of wanting said games here).
Is there a reason you are against these new type of "controversial" releases? Maybe it is just a disconnect as I see a lot of fitness-signaling stuff you are doing in reference to these releases, that I don't personally regard as worthwhile in, you know, the post-cro-magnon world :)
