You can't kill the metal, the metal will live on.

Slain!, a heavy-metal action/platformer full of facemelting gore, is now available, DRM-free on GOG.com for Windows, Mac, and Linux, with GOG Galaxy support for achievements and a 10% launch discount.

Metalheads, sharpen your oversized swords and prepare your sensitive ears. This is the epic, gory, and totally heavy-metal story of Bathoryn, the long-haired hero that decided to storm six creepy-looking towers, home to six terrible overlords. Will you help him wipe the toothy grins off their ugly mugs or will you let him get Slain?

You need to master three deadly weapons, learn their gruesome combos, then figure out which one serves you best in any given situation. Switching between them quickly and timing your attacks perfectly are key to overcoming the cunning traps and the demonic hordes spread across this gothic land. Learn your craft well and your enemies will explode into a deadly bouquet of pixel-art gore. Τake one wrong step and they will get the metallic taste of your blood in their mouths. Probably while listening to the awesome soundtrack, courtesy of heavy-metal legend Curt Victor Bryant. Those bastards.

Steel your heart and hand with heavy-metal and don't let your legend get Slain!, DRM-free on GOG.com. The 10% discount will last until March 31, 6:59 PM GMT.
I am SO HAPPY

T_T *shedding manly tears*

when I discovered this game I hoped I had payed for the crowd funding but I came too late, then I asked the people from Wolf Brew if there was a chance to have it on GOG, since THIS WAS IT'S RIGHTFUL PLACE TO BE!!

they told me to start a wish on the community wishlist and so I did... the voters ramped up and I was excited, then I thought I was too late again, because the numbers didn't grow that much from one point on...

..AND NOW IT WAS RELEASED! ON TIME NEVERTHELESS!!!

I AM SO HAPPY SO HAPPY!!

I read the quick bad reviews and the little issue about wrong version uploaded but I don't care, I instabought it this morning right from my workplace :D
and tonight coming home I wanna BE SLAIN!

I hope the game gets fixed obviously, because as many other have already said: this game DESERVES to run good and to have nice controls and sound effects, because it's aesthetics are already perfect, the soundtrack it's just OVER THE TOP and the concept is just SO TRUE... this needs to work, and work well, all this NEEDS to have everything else right and spot-on, let's not waste this great game on some poor control programming.

please WOLF BREW fix this fast and I'm sure you will have won so many people's hearts with this for years to come!!
The steam reviews seem to be mostly negative? how come?
see attachment: slain_steam_rating.jpg

Ofcourse, i dont take 99% of the steam reviews serious, cause they trash many good casual games, 80% i happen to own aswell and these get good reviews elsewhere, so generally steam reviews should not be taken to serious, and mostof them are unreliable.

i checked digerati website: cause i got curious, and thought maybe they have released more interesting games

it says
245 games in our Steam library

245? are they sure ? i checked steam and i can see only 1 page?

Pardinuz: This looks awesome! I wish the gameplay is at least half as good as the aesthetic.

Bambusek: Sadly, looks like there are problems with character being responsive and that is a big flaw in such games :( I am still deciding if buy Slain or Ys Origin + Lichdome: Battlemage because of this.
Judging by the reviews so far, you may be better off getting those other games, and waiting for this to be fully patched up.

the controls? ofcourse steam users nags all about controls.
Thats why i think the rating over there should be adjusted:

i believe steam should expand the ratings:

they should add a colum that show all bad reviews because of control quirkness, as it is now its either bad or good, ofcourse you can read the reasons in the long replies but noone wants to read hundreds of issues.
So i suggest that they add a category so users can see clearly how many voted the game down because of ingame controls, there is a differnce between a oevral lousy game, just because it does suk, but most of the time they annihilate a game because of control issues and bugs/crashing issues.
So these steam dudes should add:

control issues | bugs related | game review

Then the info will be more correct, people would be able to see in a glance why they get so many negatives
x % because of bugs/crashing x% because of irky controls
But steam is not that smart, steam is a dumb drm hugging mother, anyway there lots to be improved to the site

This game got better reviews

Letter Quest Remastered v1.0.5 Released
7.99 euros thats a nice price, i dont believe we have any games like these, thats a pity i rather like these games.
plus its also released by digerati, so maybe they can release it here?

Unless the game type would be too childish?
I thought that only games that sell good matter ?
Anyway if games like this could arrive here ( no online scores and no achievements needed, so no online stuff) just single player on local pc.

Same goes for all the bookworm games, i love these games, but they are all loaded with drm, serial numbers, and more nasty stuff.
We dont seem to have word/puzzle games section.

I think they mean 245 games in their personal library. Though it appears that number is also out of date: http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198041183851

Or just skipping Slain altogether. Seems like a letdown on all fronts, including level design. That's not something that's so easily patched, obviously.

It's a shame, but I'm glad that GOG at least gave the chance prior to knowing how the end product would turn out.
Reading the reviews that make it sound like an utter trainwreck is a bummer; I got excited by watching the trailer and the game showing up on GOG at release. I wonder why the devs published an apparently unfinished mess of what sounded cool on paper.

I'm still interested in it, but I'll wait until they fix up most of the problems. Even if they fail to fix all of it, I'll probably still give it a try ( at a better price ), since I like the genre and theme.

It's funny how many forum users here complained about the addition of Early Access/ In-Dev games, when GOG clearly already had unfinished games before, they just weren't labeled as such. Maybe it would have been better for this to be officially released as "In-Dev". Would have taken some of the pressure off the devs, people wouldn't have expected a perfectly polished game right from the start, and reviews probably would have turned out less harsh.

Maybe they ran out of money for development? Yet another reason why I think releasing this as "In-Dev"/Early-Access might have been better for them. Releasing a game as "finished", when it's clearly not, just leads to all sorts of negative consequences.

I've noticed that control problems have been mentioned In a lot of reviews for Slain. Have these issues been fixed in the latest patch?
