You can't kill the metal, the metal will live on.

Slain!, a heavy-metal action/platformer full of facemelting gore, is now available, DRM-free on GOG.com for Windows, Mac, and Linux, with GOG Galaxy support for achievements and a 10% launch discount.

Metalheads, sharpen your oversized swords and prepare your sensitive ears. This is the epic, gory, and totally heavy-metal story of Bathoryn, the long-haired hero that decided to storm six creepy-looking towers, home to six terrible overlords. Will you help him wipe the toothy grins off their ugly mugs or will you let him get Slain?

You need to master three deadly weapons, learn their gruesome combos, then figure out which one serves you best in any given situation. Switching between them quickly and timing your attacks perfectly are key to overcoming the cunning traps and the demonic hordes spread across this gothic land. Learn your craft well and your enemies will explode into a deadly bouquet of pixel-art gore. Τake one wrong step and they will get the metallic taste of your blood in their mouths. Probably while listening to the awesome soundtrack, courtesy of heavy-metal legend Curt Victor Bryant. Those bastards.

Steel your heart and hand with heavy-metal and don't let your legend get Slain!, DRM-free on GOG.com. The 10% discount will last until March 31, 6:59 PM GMT.
They had me at "Full soundtrack recorded by Curt Victor Bryant formally of Celtic Frost."
Awesome. Couldn't buy it fast enough. Didn't know this was coming to GOG so I was planning to buy it on Steam. Glad I didn't have to!
Nice Day 1 release. Still says coming soon on Steam...
Rad. Thanks for not quashing this one, GOG.
This looks awesome! I wish the gameplay is at least half as good as the aesthetic.

Sadly, looks like there are problems with character being responsive and that is a big flaw in such games :( I am still deciding if buy Slain or Ys Origin + Lichdome: Battlemage because of this.

Lobuno: Nice game, needs some polish though, gamepad controls are a bit rough. Animation is great, reminds me of ol classics like Flashback. Music is superb!! Back to gaming...
i am playing with an XBOX 360 pad here on Linux and I haven't noticed any input lag but maybe it's just my NES background talking where I compensate for everything :)

I love it. ;o)
As has been mentioned several times, looks like Castlevania.

Is it as hard as Castlevania?

Not even close. Two different games.
Kinda cool-looking, though probably not for me. :)
I do like the line in the game card that says "No leveling, no grinding, no crafting!" XD I wish more games of this sort just tried to be good in the action & platforming departments, instead of shoehorning in "RPG elements" because some fools think every game needs some sort of experience level mechanic.
Also, "formally of Celtic Frost" (which appears in two places in the description on the game card) should be "formerly of Celtic Frost".

Seems like maybe they should've waited, in this case -- three of the four reviews currently up on the store page here mention horrible control issues, and one says sound effects are almost nonexistent, among other mentioned problems.
This looks right up my alley! Loved Volgarr, can't see this being any different!

Apparently, the wrong version was submitted to GOG, and a patch is being uploaded soon. Thus, why it's not up on Steam yet. Hopefully, it resolves these issues.
How is the difficulty?

Hell yeah man! One of my favorite metal songs of all time.

I admit I actually loved Cold Lake and Vanity / Nemesis when Curt Bryant was with the band. I know it was their cheesiest era, but those albums had some bad-ass riffs.

I have been known to blast some "Cherry Orchards" out of my windows when sitting in traffic from time to time, hehe.
