Zinger!

Simon the Sorcerer 4: Chaos Happens, a third-person puzzling adventure developed by Silver Style Entertainment, is a freshly added DRM-free GOG.com exclusive available for Windows with English, French, German, Italian and Spanish localizations.

Imagine that you are arguing with your sibling. How does this normally end? Do you throw a punch and get sent to your room without dessert, or does your mind get sucked into another dimension? If you picked option B just to see what happens, you will feel right at home in this game - and that’s just the start of it.

In this instalment of the Simon the Sorcerer series, you will have to save a parallel world from impending doom in the midst of many an absurd event. Instantly zip across the map to any discovered location, solve many a fascinating puzzle, and listen to some great in-game sounds while at it courtesy of Thomas Herrmann - and enjoy the characters’ banter (including some funnies from Hades the Bureaucrat, overlord of the Underworld) while you’re at it!

If Monkey Island or Day of the Tentacle are your thing and you appreciate when a game does not take itself too seriously, Simon the Sorcerer 4: Chaos Happens will most definitely be your thing. Give this DRM-free GOG.com exclusive a go for a modern experience of classic point-and-click adventuring!

What does the press say?

“It is a real winner, and it has the potential to bring in other gamers to the adventure genre who may prefer more action based games.” -- Adventure Classic Gaming

Smannesman: I prefer pretending the series ended after the second game.

Dartpaw86: I LOVED the first. But, to me playing the game was an experiment, to see if this was a series I could get into. Seeing the "hatred" for 3 and 4, I decided to not play 2 as I don't want to get too invested into the series, knowing I'll be set up for disappointment.
Third game actually has a decent story and puzzles. It was originally supposed to be 2D game like the two earlier games, but unfortunately it was made during the era of the 3D craze. It has awful graphics and controls, but if you can get past those, it's a decent adventure game. 4th game is the worst of the entire series, because it's not funny and the story is an uninspired mess. It has it's moments and it's not the worst game there is. I would call it very mediocre, but because it's part of a series which has much better games, people are more critical towards it's shortcomings.
Point & Click adventure games are always good news as far as I'm concerned.

And with a little bit of luck, some other Silver Style Entertainment P&C might find its way over here too.
Goin' Downtown
Simon The Sorcerer: Who'd Even Want Contact?
Everlight: Of Magic And Power
The Fall: Mutant City

I always find impolite criticizing the quality of a game in its release thread. Lots of people don't like many games, and we could all do the same for games that somebody else might like. We all got frustrated by gog curation at some point or another; but it's not other game's fault.

Well, I don't know about the English version, but I do remember the German version getting decent reviews - which is why I always was on the verge of buying it or not. So I at least am happy the game comes to GOG because I will definitely be buying it when it is heavily discounted on the Holiday Sale ... :)

Considering I have the first trilogy here I may as well jump in and get the 4th as well. But, I'll wait for a sale since the Summer Sale has left my wallet in shambles.

And as others have said, now that 1-4 are here I hope they do get the 5th added as well. It'd be a shame to have 80% of the series.

Just play the second one and ignore the rest. Problem solved.

It's a great game and deserves to be played.

InfraSuperman: Does that mean you haven't played any Simon the Sorcerer game other than the original?
Yes, I've only played the original so far.

Kudos on getting 4, and ill prob get it as it saves me using my CD. But then one i'm waiting for is 5. As thats not legally sold anywhere now (it was only ever avaliable as a digital and the company went bust or something thus removing the able to buy it.)

That's a shame. I always found the second one to be slightly funnier than the first one, even without Chris Barrie.

Then again, Simon 1 and 2 are among the few games where I prefer the German dub over the original, anyway.

Please 1 was the best. You can't beat a bit of Chris Barrie.

I hope 3D isnt included there.

Edit 3D is bad. Also I'm talking about Simon 3. Not 4. 4 ROCKED compared to 3.

I won't even disagree with you there. I love both of those games equally, for different reasons. As I said, I regard the second one to be slightly funnier, due to its writing, while the first one has a much more solid scenario and overall design.

I can see where you getting at. I'd like to say certian scenes but not everyone has played them so certain secenes in 2 where a lot less serious than 1 and that made me chuckle. But 1 I thought over all was far more solid and mem.

so 4 is better then 3? i read the reviews of 4 and they were not happy.

4 times 1 star

A Miserable Load of Rubbish
Terrible adventure game
Not a worthy addition to the series
Tedious

only one seemed satisfied
Simon returns

so thats why i assumed simon4 was bad.
