Zinger!

Simon the Sorcerer 4: Chaos Happens, a third-person puzzling adventure developed by Silver Style Entertainment, is a freshly added DRM-free GOG.com exclusive available for Windows with English, French, German, Italian and Spanish localizations.

Imagine that you are arguing with your sibling. How does this normally end? Do you throw a punch and get sent to your room without dessert, or does your mind get sucked into another dimension? If you picked option B just to see what happens, you will feel right at home in this game - and that’s just the start of it.

In this instalment of the Simon the Sorcerer series, you will have to save a parallel world from impending doom in the midst of many an absurd event. Instantly zip across the map to any discovered location, solve many a fascinating puzzle, and listen to some great in-game sounds while at it courtesy of Thomas Herrmann - and enjoy the characters’ banter (including some funnies from Hades the Bureaucrat, overlord of the Underworld) while you’re at it!

If Monkey Island or Day of the Tentacle are your thing and you appreciate when a game does not take itself too seriously, Simon the Sorcerer 4: Chaos Happens will most definitely be your thing. Give this DRM-free GOG.com exclusive a go for a modern experience of classic point-and-click adventuring!

What does the press say?

“It is a real winner, and it has the potential to bring in other gamers to the adventure genre who may prefer more action based games.” -- Adventure Classic Gaming
Now the biggest question rises, how GOG will deal with the 5th game. As the company went into insolvency, their website has been shutted down. Why am I saying this? Well, it has a DRM that requires you to type in a license for verification in THEIR website that no longer exists.

deonast: Wow 1 star reviews already. Could this be gearing up to be the worst rated game in the GOG catalogue. Only more ratings will tell. Considering GOG star ratings tend to be on the generous side from what I've observed this will be interesting to watch.
Just wait for the next Insomnia Sale.

Assuming that GOG can somehow clear the legal/licensing minefield, the question to be asked is; are there pirated versions of the 5th game? If yes, then I doubt it would be that difficult to create a DRM-Free version of the 5th game.

PaterAlf: It doesn't look like a good game, but it can hardly be worse than the third one.
Actually the third one is seriously underrated. It has some of the funniest dialogue in the series.
Unfortunately the game is plagued with useless running around in an empty 3D world, trying to find some location where something actually might happen. And some unfixed bugs.

GOG has used warez cracks before, it probably can happen again, if needed.

jvandiver: I would rather have Batman Arkham Asylum and Batman Arkham City release by now today instead.
Indeed, hopefully we get these games here soon. Another excuse to highlight the wishlists if anyone is interested. :)

I'm so glad GOG's curated approach to releases keeps bad games out.

Maybe the agreement was to bring this and then some of these more highly-desired games -

Somebody else mentioned Batman Asylum and City and it is a cryin' shame they aren't here while LEGO Batman is.

Or GOG should go A-Team on Activision's IP dungeon and rescue the final City Builders game and Freddy Pharkas.

GOG surely you mistyped, and meant that you had finally brought Discworld to GOG?

*dreams*
Even if the trailer didn't make this look horrible, No Chris Barrie = no Simon = no interest.
I prefer pretending the series ended after the second game.

Does that mean you haven't played any Simon the Sorcerer game other than the original?
This is the worst game of the series. While neither of the German Simon games is particularly good, the 5th game was much better than this mess.

Naturally they would remove that and sell a DRM free version. I would be willing to buy that, despite the fact that I own the game already, because I find it rather annoying that you have to crack the copy protection (which technically isn't legal and I don't like the idea of breaking the law) in order to play the game which you own.

How is Simon the Sorcerer to start?

I LOVED the first. But, to me playing the game was an experiment, to see if this was a series I could get into. Seeing the "hatred" for 3 and 4, I decided to not play 2 as I don't want to get too invested into the series, knowing I'll be set up for disappointment.
