pbaggers: This is nice, but what about Silent Hill 2 and 3?

Please tell me issues with the voice actor's contracts aren't getting in the way...
Its gonna be hard to deliver seeing as there are no complete builds for those 2 games left. The HD remaster was garbage for a reason, And that was because the team who did it had to fill in the blanks cause assets were missing. Japanese had a very weird stance when it came to older content, They kinda believed nobody would want the old stuff so they kinda discarded it. This is also one of the reasons that some anime series/Movies will never have a true HD version and are just improved SD versions.

Ancient-Red-Dragon: Didn't the HD version of SH2 butcher the game by re-writing some of its code and thus greatly changing some of its segments? I recall watching some videos about that years ago, but my memory is a bit hazy as to which SH game it affects. I think it was 2 though?

Why don't they release the original, non-HD version of 2?

And also, why don't they release part 1?
Kind of, the source code for 2 and 3 were lost so the devs were handed outdated code and had to essentially re-finish the game and that's why there's all the discrepancies between the originals and the HD release. I don't see why they couldn't just release 2 and 3 with data from the original pressed discs, though... and work in a no-cd patch or something.

As for SH1, there was never a PC port as far as I'm aware, so that'd have to be worked out by Konami or some other dev company.

1mikey1: Did Konami not lose the source code for SH2 and 3?
Yes, they did. There were some assets left but the HD version had to be badly copy-pasted to even make it complete and that turned out to be a failure. Best would be to just get a copy from a fan or disc version and use that as a basis.

i've beaten this game multiple times. Maybe it's an okaySilent Hill game, but it's a damn good horror game. Grab it, they don't make a solid horror game like this anymore.
Interesting fact: There is a version of Silent Hill 1 bundled together with an PSX-Emulator floating around in the internet. It works without install. Just one exe you click and play. It wouldn´t be that hard for Konami to get that version and publish it here.
Just saying...
It'd be a shame if the whole voice acting thing places a hold up on Silent Hill 2 & 3 PC re-releases. While 2's port wasn't perfect (still leagues better than the official "HD" version) fans have truly made it into a worthy HD edition by modding/restoring it.

Another surprise is Silent Hill 3 PC seemed to have been done in-house (I think it's the only PC Team Silent entry to be done internally at Konami) and it generally worked great, even native 60fps I believe (the others you needed to unlock via mods and in some cases caused issues, especially in 4 near the end.)
This pleases me greatly, hopefully 2 and 3 come too. I'll be honest I'm scared they won't be able to put them up due to the voice acting thing.
Has anybody saw that if the missing hauntings are fixed in this version or not?

I hope so, because of the resolution and anti-aliasing fixes.

I don't think GOG would publish a controller-only game, though.

You can play it with keyboard. No controller needed.

EDIT: no mouse though

nah i wouldn't want such a ghetto solution.
I've got a question regarding this part of the series - I've never played in any Silent Hill game. Is story presented in the game "independent" from previous games? Or it somehow continuing it?

I'm not sure if I should rather wait for SH2 and 3 releases (have hope that those will also come to GOG), or can I play in 4th game as "independent part"? Just please, no spoilers, ok? :)

This is a independent game, with original story line. There are some references between most Silent Hill games, but are completely original stories. Only the first and third game have a direct link between them.

1 and 3 are directly related, 2 is its own thing, and 4 is independent with just a couple of non-plot links to 2. You are good to go if this is your first Silent Hill game.

I will say that 4 took a turn from the previous entries with some mechanics, controls, and how inventory works, though.
Most excellent release and instabuy!! Hope to see more of the series release here!
