That was quick, let's keep those SH releases rolling!
They're probably trying to figure out how to get Silent Hill 2 to work on modern systems at this very moment.

BitMaster_1980: That's almost certainly a false positive. It will probably be gone in a signature update or two of your scanner. If you want to be safe, there are several sites on the web where you can upload a file and they test it against a wide variety of scanners. Since this is a threat from 2016, unless a large majority of them identify it, it should be completely safe.

Elmofongo: OK I tried to restore the quarantined file, but Avira re-quarantined it immediately. Am I gonna have to disable Avira completely to play this game?
You might need to set up an exclusion for the executable somehow. I have the original disc and it did the same thing for me back then with my AV I believe.
Yes! Finally, the gates are open. Insta-wishlisted. Now bring all of the Silent Hill games and MGS 5, too!

Arthandas: They're not identical if you're playing in 2560x1440:) What about the cutscenes? They were previously locked to 15 fps.
As for the hauntings, I'm talking about these:

Croyzers: Apologies, yes you are right - it must have a widescreen patch applied to it! I've just tested the original cd and that only used 4:3 aspect ratio. There is a tool called dxcfg installed too - which seems to be a wrapper for old direct x. You can pick screen modes, anti aliasing etc. I was even able to pick a supersampled screenmode

Not sure about the cutscenes - but they do seem to be 30fps (but that could be placebo)

Supposed to be working just now (!!) but will check out the haunting
Please also write to me about the haunting state. I'm curious if it has been solved or not.
It's great to see the Silent Hill series on GOG! Any chance we'll see Silent Hill 2 or 3?

RedRagan: Konami start selling Silent Hill 4 on PC on Steam and GOG sounds nice and all, but my guess is that they did this because their main bread and butter, the pachinko machines are floundering hard because no one want to use them during covid19 outbreak.

I hope this is also the time that Konami return to their gaming root. You guys already hurting Kojima and his employees like an angry child throwing temper tantrum. This is time to make amend.
I agree with you.

It is very likely that Silent Hill 2 and 3 will be relaunched for PCs again in Steam and Gog. All very well and nostalgia sells very well too. The only thing I see is that they want to sell us the same video game as before without improvements or modifications, fixes and bug fixes for modern computers or modern Operating Systems. It is a serious problem that a video game is relaunched and that to work properly today on a machine (PC) has to resort to the community of fans and modders (for example: ''METAL GEAR SOLID 2 SUBSTANCE''). Konami what do you think about?

Was anything done by either GOG or Konami on what's otherwise an abysmal PC port?

Judging from this post they added support for higher resolutions and anti-aliasing.
Did Konami not lose the source code for SH2 and 3?
I remember playing a demo of this back inn the mid 2000s.

I have always wanted to play the full version

They had a hard legal dispute while releasing the HD edition. Mostly with changing voice actors. So 2 and 3 are kinda stuck in a copyright limbo right now (the PC versions at least).

I think they resolved the dispute for SH2 in the end (HD Collection had an option for original voices) so hopefully that's coming next.
Didn't the HD version of SH2 butcher the game by re-writing some of its code and thus greatly changing some of its segments? I recall watching some videos about that years ago, but my memory is a bit hazy as to which SH game it affects. I think it was 2 though?

Why don't they release the original, non-HD version of 2?

And also, why don't they release part 1?

SH 1 was never on PC.
