Things are getting a little hairy now.

Shantae: Half-Genie Hero Ultimate Edition is now available DRM-free on GOG.com, 10% off until May 15th, 12pm UTC.
Someone in Sequin Land is up to no good and Shantae just won't have it! Instead, she will hair-flick and belly-dance her way through all sorts of loopy levels, changing shapes as she goes. But will her fabulous mane and hypnotic moves be enough to defeat the sassy Risky Boots?

The Ultimate Edition includes the Pirate Queen's Quest, Friends to the End, and Costume Pack DLC.

masterotaku: I can confirm now: the game is missing the 64 bit executable file ("ShantaeHero64.exe") and all other 64 bit dll files in the "executable" folder. Meaning that we can't play the game in DirectX 11 mode. Please, game devs and GOG, be aware of this and fix it, releasing the missing files.
I just contacted GOG today about this, I seen my friends steam account and noticed he had the 64bit version and I was like WTF I been waiting for this game to come here and they give us the half baked version of it missing the 64bit version... Great. if they can't fix the issue I will just demand a refund and buy it on steam.

Well, there isn't any visual difference between both modes. I'm working now on the 3D Vision fix for both DX9 and DX11, and I'm achieving almost the same. For non 3D users, it'll mostly be two hotkeys, to disable bloom and FXAA. For 3D users, shadows are better in DX9 but I can't put to depth two interface shaders because the shader is corrupted in an unknown way when I dump it.

Really, my rant was because it's easier to work in HLSL using DX11, but once done that, it's generally easy to apply the same fixes to ASM in DX9 (except for those two mysterious HUD shaders for 3D). I wouldn't worry about not having the DX11 mode too much, but it still sucks that they aren't giving us the choice.

Now, what I hate (graphically) the most about the game is that it's limited internally to 1920x1080. I'd like to play at 5K, tsk tsk.

It all goes down to the fact that we got missing stuff, does not matter, when I pay money I want the full thing no matter how useless it is. and for the resolution thing I am running it on 4k and it shows 4k res when I go into options. is it true or just an upscale? that I have been trying to figure out.

I agree.

I was just going to say that it's locked, but ooooohhhh my god. It can actually run at whatever resolution ONLY IF you make the resolution change without restarting the game. That means that if you boot the game with 5K preconfigured, it will be 1080p internally, but switching resolution options makes it run at real 5K or whatever resolution you use! I have checked it. The render target resolution is really what you choose with this trick.

Now here comes the complaining: you can only change and apply a resolution change without restarting the game in the DX11 mode. The DX9 mode forces you to restart the game, so you can't use this workaround for internal resolution! Now we have even more reasons to demand the DX11 files for the GOG version. Sucks that shadows are nicer for 3D Vision in DX9 mode though.

Hey I have a question, The version you are talking about that has the 64bit missing is it by any chance the regular version of the game? cause I just got GOG support to respond back to me and they said, the ultimate edition only comes in 32bit here and on steam BUT the regular version of the game has both 32 and 64bit exe... I find this really odd and I need someone with the steam version of the ultimate edition to screen cap the folder of the game to see if it really has a 64bit cause I am now getting mixed responses to this. XD
GOG support told me the same (I opened a ticked 2 days ago). There's someone on Steam I know that has the Ultimate Edition, but it looks like we live in different time zones. As soon as I see that user connected I'll ask. You can ask in the Steam discussions if you want too.
Hello Everyone, here is the evidence that Steam version has 64-Bit DX11.

support said from what they are aware the old version is the only one with 64bit and the new one is only 32bit.

God damn..... Time to open another ticket and demand refund on this.

Dude, Thank you for this proof. I will post this link for when I ask for the refund so they know this is not all some lie or something.

I have emailed Wayforward too yesterday, apart from answering GOG support with that proof. I hope we can just get the update quickly.
I got this message from Wayforward:

"Thanks for writing in and bringing this to our attention. We've been in touch with GOG about this issue, and hope to get it worked out as soon as we can. Our goal is to have everything fixed within the next couple weeks. Thanks again for your patience!"

We have to wait a pair of weeks at most, in theory.

We got the patch! It shows up as "1.0 HOTFIX". New files are:

- "data\_wfshadersdx11.pak"
- "executable\fmod_event64.dll"
- "executable\fmodex64.dll"
- "executable\ShantaeHero64.exe"

It now launches in DX11 mode by default in GOG Galaxy.

Apart from receiving the patch, they mentioned it here: https://steamcommunity.com/app/764300/discussions/0/1694922345926728148/

Sweet! Thanks for all the effort! :)
I forgot to say: if anyone is interested in the 3D Vision fix, it's here: https://helixmod.blogspot.com/2018/05/shantae-half-genie-hero-ultimate.html

For non 3D users, the only useful things are the real time black bars in cutscenes, bloom and FXAA toggle hotkeys to disable them. FXAA is already an ingame option, but it's nice if you want to see how it affects the image instantly.
