<span class="bold">Shadow Watch</span>, a stunningly stylized tactical classic, is available now for Windows, DRM-free on GOG.com

There's a special, timeless aesthetic to Shadow Watch. It stands out from the crowd, there's no doubt about that - but it also looks as good as any modern-day release. For a 15 year old game, that's a nothing short of a feat.

Dive into a comic-book world of interrogation and espionage in Shadow Watch - tactical turn-based gameplay in the spirit of X-Com and the gang, but it aims to keep things simple and varied (rather than in-depth and confounding). The familiar strategy layer is just as rewarding as ever, but it's never unnecessarily complicated and always easy to learn. Still, the real meat is in the fact that tactics are just one part of the experience. Before setting out on your mission you'll have to aptly prepare your team, as well as scout for intelligence, and interrogate your contacts. Your story and the flow of the game will rely on who you talk to, what you get out of them - and what you decide to do with the information.

A special shoutout to awalterj who relentlessly wears the Shadow Watch avatar. You weren't able to grab the game while here, so we thought it's high time to put it on the GOG.com shelf!

yyahoo: Well, yeah, expecting anything but a "might makes right" perspective in a combat oriented video game seems a little unrealistic. As far as patriotism of any sort goes, I'm rather disgusted by it, but it's a video game plot written for a western audience. It's what I would expect. Is this game any different than other GOG releases like Act of War or World in Conflict (I guess you get to play as the "bad" guys in that game, but I don't know if that makes it any better)? I haven't played those games, but from what I read it seems to be a similar concept...
While not having played most of those games (not a fan of modern war games in general), the general spectrum seems to be from "war is terrible but necessary" to "war is fucking awesome". I suspect this title shades more towards the latter end. (Feel free to substitute "armed response" or "military action" for "war" in the above spectrum, as appropriate.)

I'm not sure I've ever played a military based combat game that gave me the impression that "war is terrible but necessary".

There are some that do, mostly tactic squad-based games where you get to experience the human cost of war. But in general glorification is the more common tack.
Don't forget Rogue Spear!
Wishlisted for the moment.
I'm saving my pennies for the soon-to-be big GOG sale.

The first game I voted for on the community wishlist right after joining GOG two years ago, even chose the game's logo as my avatar. It's a notoriously tricky game to get to run on modern systems without hickups, I still have the original CD ROM version but scrolling was so choppy that I gave up on playing the CD version on Windows 7. I said I'll instantly buy this game if it ever comes to GOG and I keep my word so: Instant purchase and thank you GOG for finally adding this game even though practically no one knew about it and only 257 enlightened people voted for it:

This made my day, really. Will test out if the GOG version works orderly as soon as I have time.

Nice release. Used to have a disc version of this but borrowed it to a co-worker and haven't seen it since.

And nice work GOG, I think this was pretty tricky to get running on modern OS's.

I'm curious now. What are a couple I can check out?
Looks interesting. Tactical and turne-based stuff always gets my attention. Wishlisted for now.

On a side note, I think I need to get a Final Unity avatar. Apparently that's the way to get something done...

drealmer7: I ignore all that shit, it makes living in the US somewhat bearable. However, depending on the results of the next presidential election, I might be moving out of this country and once and for all, it's just a huge shithole that's been getting worse for 20 years.
Unfortunately all the other shitholes have been getting worse for 20 years as well! :)

EDIT: Have dreamed and will continue to dream of Mexico, myself.

Instant buy if it's ever on GOG. Extremely cool tactical game with wonderful stylish hand drawn graphics. This would have WAY more votes if people actually knew about the game in the first place."

Haha! So you found me out :D

Just bought it a couple minutes ago before going through this thread so I'm yet again one step ahead, I even picked up a penalty extra gift copy for my self-therapy giveaways with which I'm terribly behind but I am sticking to my plan, at snail pace. Couldn't get an extra code for Fran Bow due to store rules and in the case of Stasis, I simply couldn't afford to buy a 2nd code right now so I'll have to wait until the price drops to keep my word on that one but for all my other purchases, I got it covered with extra codes and they'll all be given away in due time so you won't be able to rat me out! Giveaways are certain, time is not (Jaqen H'ghar taught me). I'm the proverbial turtle in the turtle & hare story.
I like the art style, will wait for some more reviews on the gameplay

Hey, you asked me to keep an eye on you so here I am :P
yes the graphics really age well
Ooh, nice. That looks like something I might quite enjoy. :) More Ubi back catalog is always welcome.
