I never played the original even though it was on GOG for a long time, but I saw this remaster and snapped it up cause it looks interesting and seem they improved a lot of things though I don't have a reference to compare to.

There are quite a few remasters on GOG and most seem to include the originals. Ask GOG directly...maybe they will give us a straight answer....maybe it was the request of the Devs.

As far as a discount I remember Observer (the original) was a pretty expensive game up until the remaster...$20-$30 USD..and they gave us a discount + the original as well if I remember correctly. Giving a discount for an original that cost $5.99 might be a reach in the Devs eyes, or whomever makes those decisions...but including the original would have been nice.

Looks beautiful and the original is awesome...but wishing there was a discount for owners of the original.

Wow, it looks like they deleted the "Over 30 achievements" wording that was previously on the GOG store page of Shadow Man Remastered, under the "Description" section, in the first hours of its release here on GOG.

That's absolutely disgusting behavior!

It proves that instead of doing the right thing and adding Achievements to give GOG customers parity with, and equal treatment to, Steam customers, they have chosen to double-down on going with the unethical route of treating GOG customers like unequal, second-class citizens.

And also they are apparently trying to obfuscate the fact that they are doing so, via removing the previously-present wording which called attention to this disparity, apparently in hopes that no one happens to notice GOG customers are getting a feature-removed version.

I'm definitely never buying anything from this publisher or dev unless they reverse course and do the right thing in regards to this matter.

Yes... which looks like they made substantial efforts to add value to the game?

I get that people were upset with Beamdog because of the poor quality of the initial release, but I very much think there is such a thing as a good remaster, and it's ok that people want to get paid for it. So far, Nightdive did a good job with all (?) its remasters, or? And I assume they do have various costs associated with this release ranging from the work put in to the licensing fees? Not sure what the lowest price on GOG was, but this game went on sale for as little as $0,49 on other platforms, so it seems slightly funny that people think they deserve an extra discount for having struck a bargain before.

Paying for a good remaster seems less shocking to me, than to pay 5,99-9,99 to some company who just happens to hold a 25-year-old license but no longer employees a single person involved in the creation of the product...

That's a valid point of view. But still GOG should always try to keep selling the originals, for those who are here for the old games and not for some remaster. Of course some publishers / rights-owners won't allow that (Beamdog). But Nightdive allows it on Steam, so why does GOG not do it?

To be honest, never liked it. It was too cluncky to play in the old days. But I won't deny, the graphics, shadow, voice acting, sound... the whole atmosphere was right or, should I say nail on? Yeah, it was.

Anyway, in the remaster, I hoped for a bit of higher-polygonal models. Through the new lightning/textures looks very good.

I concur. What I noticed, people here are getting more and more bitchy about every release and complain about something.
While I wouldn´t mind having an original here, if it will be added as a bonus goodie, I wouldn´t complain (can´t verify that, as I bought the original here long time ago).

And judging by the promo text, they did significant code-digging and restoration here, so asking mere 12.59€ is a steal, even when compared with their previous releases (Turok 1/2 on release cost around 20€) and they have portfolio of well done releases over the years.
So I don´t get what´s all the fuss about.

As for missing soundtrack and possibly other promised goodies - hopefully they will add them later.

I'll wait for a deeper discount as I think for what it is especially as I own the older game its a bit pricy.

Also after Blood I'm not a fan of things they just slap into the KEX Engine.

While I agree that we should be treated the same (and therefore getting the OPTIONAL achievements for those who like them) I have to disagree that removing the wording in the description was a wrong move. We cannot be sure if removing them in the description does in fact mean that GOG won't get them, however we all know that they are absent right now so keeping them in the description of the product would simply be false advertising. Removing them in the description right now is the only right way as they are absent right now ... however they should add them in time and then they should add the description in time as well. Let's simply hope it is not a permanent thing.

@all who are saying "NOBODY needs achievements" ... since you said this to somebofy who missed them in the first place it is impossible that you are correct. Not everybody needs and wants them - that's correct ... but I could say the same about several features in games, so why don't you just keep silence the moment somebody wants something you are not interested in as well (even downvoting them - ridiculous .. but somebody is downvoting me as well since months so who cares)? Different people have different tastes and there's nothing wrong with it. Let me also make clear that I am talking about optional achievements that you can turn off if you like (as you can with Galaxy) since I am also well aware that there are several people out there who hate popups from achievements inside of games while playing and off course I can also respect this.
