wolfsite: Who said I was upset? If you want to continue this in PM I'm fine with it as there is a clear miscommunication going on, the phrasing of your original text came off as if the text was directed at me, I was somewhat confused about it so merely making an attempt at slight humourous sarcasm (It clearly fell flat and I should have added in more to show I was not taking offense and the comment was in jest so I will own up to not being more direct with what I was trying to say there so I'm sorry for my reply escalating things when there was no intent to do so)
avatar
TomNuke: Don't worry about it. I escalated the situation, and that's why I edited my last post. I'm really not trying to argue with anyone here. I'm just frustrated with GOG to be honest. So I'm sorry, wolfsite.
I am as well and I am in full agreement with you that the Mature content warning should not be there, especially when Cyberpunk doesn't have one at all.

TomNuke: ESRB and PEGI are both saying no to Senran Kagura being 18+. Maybe it's all just GOG politics at play here... No idea, but I mean, GOG has been strong with the woke virtue signaling as of late. And if they think the majority of their community is against certain things, which could trigger them, then maybe there's some truth to it.
What I meant is that this different between "mature" and "adult" is not really something existing in Europe (Heck when I was young porn DVD were 16+ ), so I suspect Gog probably is just being overly "safe" and tag as "adult" nearly everything that is PEGI16+ regardless if it is because of some covered boobs (like in this game), violence or outright porn.

TomNuke: Would I let my kids browse the GOG catalogue as is? No, and it's not for reasons you think. It would actually be because of things like Cyberpunk 2077.

Here's the problem with so many of these silly arguments... There's literally no porn being displayed or depicted on GOG. There's no adult samples on the game page or even the Unrated DLC page. There's nothing at all explicit on the store page. So unless you buy the game there's no way of seeing anything "adult".

Again, which is why arguments like GOG needs to section that stuff off, or comparing it to an ADult Section in a video store is silly.

I'm not worried about my kid seeing porn on GOG store pages, but I would be worried about them seeing explicit violence and blood and gore from CD Projekts own games, and plenty of other games here. I'm not at all worried about them seeing one of these "porn" games that have no explicit imagery displayed on GOG.

LOL, buying games on a store and discussing them will like minded buyers in a release thread is not pushing your agenda on anyone. If you want to blame anyone here you should blame GOG, because they're the ones ultimately accepting it on their "curated" store. Some of GOG's staff probably don't like it and maybe even all of them don't, because as I said in my previous post we see a lot of woke virtual signaling coming from GOG now, but they're still accepting it in the end.
We all know that the only reason there are no porn in these games because it makes them easier to smuggle on the game stores. Regulators are happy, GoG can wash their hands and all the buirocratic check-boxes have been ticked. All is good. We are all in the clear.

If Cyberpunk had been stripped to receive a 'T' rating and company offers a free gore DLC that pushes it to 'M', would you considered that a real 'T' rating?

Depends a bit on where in Europe you are, but it is usually not as prudish as the good old US of A.

RedRagan: I think this is fine
avatar
Ancient-Red-Dragon: It's not fine, because GOG's lack of advertising of the game, and lack of formally announcing the game, both serve to minimize the amount of people who will know the game has been released on GOG, and therefore it will also minimize sales of that game on GOG.

In turn, that is likely to cause the other games in this series never to appear on GOG. And/or it could also potentially cause XSeed to skip GOG on even more of their non-Senran future releases of games.
Well look at that, they actually put the release on the news. You get your wish, but now we gonna get some moralists rampaging on that thread as well.

They tweet about a stupid comic about a game that was released here 2 years ago (Horizon Zero Dawn), but they don't tweet about a games series that people have wanted for years making it's GOG debut. It's clear where their priorities are.

I created a Twitter account for the sole reason to spread the word, please retweet to Xseed and GOG:

(Hopefully this thread doesn't get locked too. Or maybe it's too late to hope for that.)

Suggestion: you might post a link to other Senran wishlist entries (or a general search like below) and encourage people to vote.

I just played this game for a couple of hours. It's my first time playing a SK game.

After having played it now, the outrage over its content seems extremely ridiculous.

The game very clearly presents itself with a deliberately goofy/zany/comedic tongue-in-cheek kind of tone, which is not in any way meant to be taken seriously.
Since the last thread was locked, here we go again. Please vote for more guys!

I created this thread for 2 reasons: Because gog's was late and i wanted the game to get the exposure.
Also as a celebration for the release itself since i had considered it a lost cause after the events of 2016.

So i kindly ask that you keep it civil. No derailing and certainly no bitching at each other.
Discuss this great game and/or vote for the others in the links provided above.
I seriously do not want to feel forced to request a lock as this was a joyous occasion for me (and many others).
Cheers.

Which, funny enough, is often the case in those games. They are supposed to be fun and in most cases they are :)
We should simply enjoy them - we are ll gamers after all.
Have a nice weekend everybody and don't forget to vote for the games mentioned above.

These are not porn games, that's why there is no porn in them. Also there have been 4 mangas made of the franchise, one of which is shonen.

For once we can completely agree on something.

I Don't think the other thread was derailed at all, but I'll try not to bitch at anyone.

FrostburnPhoenix:
Looking into it further it appears the second game in the series is rated T so it's quite likely a demographic shift. This appears to be the first M rated game in the series. (mostly due to the rubbing minigame I'm sure)

Yeah the shonen manga is from 2011 and this game is from 2013 so it's a demographic shift.

(while I'm thinking about it, if you have a Reddit account, you might post and encourage people on r/gog to vote for more Senran games too - https://www.reddit.com/r/gog/)

Perhaps it'll be easier to bring the other Senran games now that Tamsoft got Shinovi Vs running with Galaxy. ie, effectively slap in the S.V. Galaxy code for a GOG release of ESTIVAL VERSUS and so on.

At least GOG fans of the series still have Ninja Wars "coming soon". I suspect S.V. sold decent (for a game "everyone" already bought on Steam, at least) and also suspect that GOG won't reject more S.K. games, at least ones similar to S.V. (I don't know if S.K. games are all very similar or not.) I'm guessing from a business perspective Tamsoft isn't enthused about having to do more work for a small amount of money (compared to Steam) but maybe the biggest technical difficulties regarding GOG releases are behind them (for now at least)? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

(just fyi I'm not interested in arguing over this with people but if people want to quote me and disagree that's fine obviously, I just won't respond and prefer people not get this thread locked.)

GOG retweeted XSEED announcing the release of SHINOVI VERSUS here. Seems like a good time to let XSEED know if you want more Senran games on GOG, like replying to the tweet if you have a Twitter account.
