Crouching ruler, hidden diplomat.

Sengoku, a strategic overlook on the powerstruggles within feudal Japan, now DRM-free on GOG.com with a launch discount of 50%.

The great Emperor, direct descendant of the goddess and supreme ruler of the land of the Rising Sun, no longer commands the respect of his lords. As the door to your private chambers slides back into place, you begin to unfold the newly-received parchment which speaks of seizing opportunities and reaping mutual benefits. You let the message burn, the smell mingling with incense mid-air, carrying with it your thoughts on the powerplays necessary to appoint a humble clan lord as Japan's sole ruler .

Sengoku is all about planning ahead and adjusting your strategy to best utilize any newly-formed alliances or recently-discovered betrayals that threaten to derail your steady rise to power. You will first need to seize control of your clan and secure your stronghold before setting out to claim the throne of the entire Empire, being always mindful of the religious factions operating in the background. A silver tongue, a strong army and a competent heir to carry on your conquering legacy are your primary concerns as you negotiate, double-cross or violently impose your rule over 16th century Japan and become the supreme leader of the land of the Rising Sun.

Use subterfuge and military strength to become feudal Japan's new ruler in Sengoku, available now, DRM-free on GOG.com. Backstab it with a 50% discount that will last until January 10th, 1:59 PM GMT.

WBGhiro: Ah man, it's not Sengoku Rance

So is this Crusader kings but in nippon?
It's basically a prototype of Crusader Kings 2. It's a bit sparse when compared to that game today, though. Think of it as a stripped down version of CK2. Such a shame Paradox never gave us at least one hefty DLC for Sengoku. This game deserved it. Guess it didn't gain much traction as there is no mention of a sequel.

Fairfox: Naaah. Less strategy and RPGs releases for pwetty ol' me, plskpls.
Answer for you....
I'm glad to see almost any new games. I don't play platformers and topdown shooters, but most of the rest i give a try.

towerbooks3192: You have to be 200 hundred years old to dig CMANO. That thing is Gandalf x Dumbledor level wizard.
:D Haha!

towerbooks3192: I would say something like Gary Grigsby's War in the East/West and Pacific will fill that gap. Surprisingly WiTE is actually easy to play despite the scary size.
Thanks for the heads up, Tb!
Some time ago I've actually decided to become a manly man (after having twins + 30yrs old...) and dug into Slitherine games for good, since they make games for M-E-N :P
Also, I'm in love with Dominions IV and CK II. Sengoku or Hearts of Iron (have played some) should be next
But Qvadriga is, by far, one of the coolest games there is. Alea Jacta Est, Normandie, Bulge, too.
Their games are huge, well detailed, historically accurate and, well, they're awesome.
Never in my whole experience I thought I'd be playing these but hey, there comes a time.

But the sad part is that games such as these require something folks my age, sometimes, lack: proper time to dig into the learning curve and even more to master.

C ya!

ps: the same overly manly man bought Hatoful Boyfriend: Holiday Star the other day. Go figure :P

For a very short and happy moment, I thought this was Shogun TotalWar. I will check this one out too.

Tarm: Once you start modding a Dominions game you're gone even further!
Modding Dominions? What? Why?
Is... is this real life? :P

Tarm: So what does that make me? A manly geek?
Modding Dominions makes you president of the galaxy, pal!

I can has a Crown! Wohoo!

Seriously. All I wanted was a specific nation mod. Got just that in one of the former Dominions games, didn't find a similar one for Dominions IV and when I'd gone long enough without it I tried to make one of my own.
Then when I started I think what got me to continue and make it almost ready, haven't got around to make a decent flag or ingame description for everything yet was that it strongly felt like trying to get a particularly picky game to start with a boot disk back in the day. Tinkering with various commands in notepad and testing if they worked. :)
If you want a good game of that type, play one of the older Nobunaga's Ambition or Shogun TW 1. And if you have played named games, don't buy Sengoku. It is a very bland game compared to the classics. The game offers not a lot to do. And I am not exaggerating :/ I am still sad that I wasted money on it at release.

Well can you at least play it as a relaxed and more complex version of RISK? That map looks nice...

Lemme say that I have like 400h+ on Dominions IV and I'm only scratching the surface. Nuff said. :P

Sengoku is awesome, very simple to learn. If only it received the same treatement as CK2 had, it would've been the best Paradox game ever.

maybe it doesn't have that many options as the other games have, but it's worth the discounted price for sure.

I started playing the series when the first came out. Can't get enough of them. :)
Scratching the surface on playing or modding? Actually I think playing the game might be more demanding than modding it. :P

High five my hatoful bf bro! I actually found out about matrix/slitherine when someone mentioned about distant worlds then bam! I dove in Decisive Campaigns and wargaming stuff. I just had my physical copy of decisive campaigns: Barbarossa arrived yesterday. I have a fair bit of games off matrix/slitherine and yes they are super hard core. I still go to paradox for my what-ifs though but I dive in to slitherine for my WW2 fill be it be as simple as Panzer Corps, middle with Decisive Campaigns series, advanced with War in The east or wizard level with CMANO.
Another nice addition. Yay!
