Where syndicates reign supreme...

Satellite Reign an open world, modern spiritual successor to Syndicate, is available now, DRM-free on GOG.com with full support for GOG Galaxy achievements and leaderboards! Blow past the corporate ladder at 20% off for the first week.

If you asked half the crew at GOG.com what their favorite game of all time is, a good chunk of us would say Syndicate. While the dirty cyberpunk settings and hard-as-nails gameplay did give us years and years of classic gaming to come back to, Satellite Reign may just be the breath of fresh, corporate espionage air that we've been waiting for.
Satellite Reign, from the very days of its conception, was a modern Syndicate in everything but the name. A gritty cyberpunk world ruled by malicious megacorps, and a squad of professionals prepared to take down the system. You'll get to roam around a huge and filthy, open-world city which isn't just cool, but also gives you a fantastic tactical freedom in how you tackle each mission - there is no one right way to achieve your ends. Between tons of high-tech goodness and customization, there is an ever-present Syndicate feel to the game with one unquestionable improvement - freedom, freedom is in the musty air.

For more Satellite Reign goodness, you can also pick up the Original Soundtrack, Art Book, and a prequel Novella!

Return to the Syndicate, in spirit, with Satellite Reign, available now - DRM-free on GOG.com The launch promo will last until Friday, September 4, 13:59 PM GMT.

JaqFrost: I'm really disappointed that 5 Lives decided not to offer kickstarter backers GOG keys. I suppose I expected them to be more like Larian, so shame on me.
That cheeses me off when a KS project does that. Really sends the message that they consider you to be second-class.
£20 (excluding discount), + extra for soundtrack, book, and something else. Are you kidding me. The future is bleak with this turn of events, not even bothering to wishlist.
I've... seen things... you people wouldn't believe.

Welcome here, agents.
Will clearly pick this at some point.

On a related matter, I've got one question I couldn't find a answer for in the forums, so if a blue can enlighten me :)

The extras (soundtrack, novella or art book) can only be bought if you own the main game. What I wonder is if it's a technical issue related to the way GOG service is designed or if it's a legal / commercial obligation (e.g.: sold separately the soundtrack would cost 10,- € instead of 5,59 €). Because I could see myself wanting a soundtrack even if I don't like the game and am not interested in buying it.

My guess is that if something like the soundtrack could be bought as a stand-alone product, contracts would have to be signed by the composer instead of the game publisher thus complicating things (from GOG's point of view) for little gain (I don't think that many people would buy the extras without the game).
Backers don't get a GOG version :-(
One more game I don't have in my GOG library :-(
The new trend... Milking the completionist out of us...
As much as I love Syndicate, I think I'll wait for a nice sale for this one.
How is it open world btw?
Looks good, but I don't like the way how they handle every piece of extra (soundtrack, novella, artbook) as an individual DLC. How about creating one big Deluxe upgrade, so we don't have to do four transactions just to get everything?
Charging extra for the soundtrack and other stuff is unfortunately not in the original GOG spirit. Oh GOG what have you become. :(

The game looks interesting but the price policy hints towards greed. Won't buy for now, maybe later when more people say it's like Syndicate or maybe never.

There is one available on Steam but gog isn't selling it.

That was exorcised by the church of Capitalism long ago.
Bought the game but not the extras which i thought where a bit too much. Maybe if they where in a pack with a lesser price then fine but not like they are at the moment.
Charging for such addons is unusual for old games, exploited for years.
Regarding new games, not so unusual.
Selling a Deluxe Edition/upgrade additional to the "normal" game is quite common.
Just adding the soundtrack etc. for free would probably upset the Kickstarter backers who had to pay extra for it. And is quite unlikely for a new game, and not really comparable to the "free goodies" we get with the good OLD games, as Huinehtar just said.

Beside of that, I think I like the Idea to be able to buy just the extras I want, e.g. the Soundtrack, instead of being forced to pay for goodies included in a deluxe edition I do not want.

Having said that, providing the DRM free version for backers on Humble only, and not giving out GOG keys is strange. Used to that for games that are no available at GOG, but here?

GOG signs contracts with publishers. Maybe publishers demand them to be sold separately so GOG has to accept it if they want the games here at all. I wonder though how much they would really lose if they compensated for paid extras.
