Uninhibitedly quirky.

Saints Row 2 and Saints Row: The Third, two of the zaniest open-world adventures ever, are available now for Windows, DRM-free on GOG.com with a 60% & 66% discount!

After a successful, albeit imperfect, initial debut in the gangster sandbox adventure genre, the Saints Row series reached new heights with each subsequent sequel. Saints Row 2 was Volition's response to every bit of criticism that it was just a bit too much like GTA. That response ended up giving us a robust open-world experience, with a powerful character creation system, tons of customisability, and a unique dose quirk that said "We're all just here to have fun." Our release of Saints Row 2 has received the GOG.com treatment: the most infamous issue, which required gamers to manually slow down modern CPUs to play the game, has been greatly improved upon. Enjoy!
If the second game was a tad odd, Saints Row: The Third is quirk overload. From weaponized sex-toys through ridiculous vehicles and characters, the plot of Saints Row: The Third is like a Hollywood summer flick turned up to eleven. If you're in the right mood for it, there there is no place quite like it to go on a hoverbike rampage or engage in wrestlemania with innocent bystanders. The word "sandbox" has never been more appropriate.

Let your inhibitions go with Saints Row 2 and Saints Row: The Third, available now, DRM-free on GOG.com! he launch discounts will last until Monday, May 18 at 12:59 PM GMT.

Cygi: About SR2:

Console version had some DLC's - is GoG version are complete edition?

Or PC retail version already had all DLC's implemented?
Nope. The DLCs were never released on the PC.

If I remember correctly, the DLC was never released on PC. It would be a treat if GOG could make that happen.

thebream: I will need more reviews for the GoG vrsion of SR2 before I buy, the version I tried years ago was a buggy mess. Played for 15 minutes before uninstalling.
Well, I played the GoG version for about 25 minutes now. Although my computer is a bit better than the recommended system requirements, I had to turn some graphics options down or even disable them and it still runs a bit laggy.
The good thing is, I`ve experienced no bugs so far.
Which one is the best in term of story, gameplay, features, etc?
Saints Row 2, 3 or.. (4)?
I got Saints Row 3 from a Humble Bundle at least a year ago and I really enjoyed SR3, it plays like a GTA game with all the humour left in.
Saints Row 2 never really captured me, and although 4 was fun just running and jumping around, the story really felt like an unwanted distraction.

I guess what I am saying is SR3 is the one to get if you want to try out this franchise.

The "superhero" gameplay of SR4 makes it a must-play experience IMO, it goes well beyond the GTA-like spoof to provide an unique style of action. After this, it's boring to drive normally in GTA 5 to go from point A to point B, I prefer going full Mirror's Edge like on crack :o)

SR3 and SR4 are both great games. If you plan to play both, play SR3 first. Driving and flying vehicles are fun aspects to the game. You can drive and fly vehicles in SR4 also, but once you get superpowers, you'll most likely never use a vehicle again. Also, SR4 continues the story of SR3.

Uh, noone liked SR2 it seems.
Ok, I'll wishlist SR3 for now, +1 to both
I've always thought that Deep Silver are leaving money on the table by not porting the first saints row game to the PC , On the PC it would keep selling and making money for many years.

Surely you would want to make money with an IP that you own?. It makes no sense to keep the first game of the franchise only on the XBOX 360 :( that version would have mostly stopped generating revenue years ago , this isn't the case on PC platform , you could sell the game forever.

I believe it stopped generating revenue pretty soon after release. I think it was never distributed digitally and its DLC has also been removed from Live years ago.

Check out the reviews of Saints Row: The Third written by DeadYorick* & sinder87. Basically, they compare the two games and explain why they consider the previous title to be superior (aside from the port issues). Based on their descriptions I'm more interested in playing Saints Row 2 as it sounds much more appealing to me but I'll wait for GOG to fix the in-game clock. I watched some of catpower1980's gameplay stream of the GOG version and it seems to be running slightly faster than it's supposed to as evidenced by the in-game countdowns.

*I really wonder why people downvote such a helpful, informative review.

Yeah, I was reading some, thanks.
They say that SR3 is dumbed down and rushed compared to SR2..
Well, I'll wait for more opinions, I wasn't going to buy them immediately anyway.

Awesome news! I love the Saints Row series, so having its games here is epic!
I have this on Steam and had constant CTDs that made it unplayable. I hope the "GOG treatment" solved the port bugs, even if it means getting stuck at 30 fps.
