Runestone Keeper, a pixely roguelike dungeon crawler with a bit of minesweeper in the mix, is available now, DRM-free on GOG.com. Look for the game available at 60% off in the Big Fall Promo Daily Deals!

You know the drill. Roguelike: check. Turn based: check. RPG: check. Dungeon crawler: check. Oh, and... minesweeper: check.
In Runestone Keeper you'll set out to explore grid-based dungeons, conquering floors of enemies, finding loot and coin, and trying not to ruin everything in one of the game's many choose-your-adventure encounters. The simple, turn-based gameplay flows at your own pace and rewards you with full-on randomization for awesome replayability, fantastic loot generation, diverse enemies, and tons of content to stumble upon. Give your soul to a god and reap the rewards, or turn on your faith and face their wrath. All this, in a great looking package that comes together to form something different, quite enjoyable, and particularly lethal.

Click, click, die, inevitably restart. Runestone Keeper is available now, DRM-free on GOG.com.

Luned: Two grammatical errors on one screenshot? That makes me question how many other little things they let slide. I'll wait for reviews before even wishlisting this one.

JudasIscariot: I've seen grammatical errors in much bigger games and the errors in the one screenshot could happen to anyone :)

roelibex: Minesweeper?! Not so much. Minesweeper requires logical thinking. In Runescape Keeper you just click on tiles and hope for the best. There is no way of knowing what will be revealed under each tile.

Never the less, I sunk many hours in this already. Great game!

JudasIscariot: Perhaps not under EVERY tile but you do have items that let you know whether you have monsters lying in wait within a certain range and you have a consumable item that once used will reveal a lot of things on the current map :)
As CharlesGrey said, it's more that it's not a great first impression. If reviewers say the gameplay's good, then that will outweigh it. It's more that it went from "Sure, why not at the intro discount price?" to "Hmmm, better wait and see," and if something else comes out strike my fancy while I'm waiting, they lost the early sale.
For those that are unsure, there's a demo available here:

I agree with others that complain that uncovering the maps isn't very strategic.*

GOG should get Oasis:
http://www.mobygames.com/game/windows/oasis/screenshots

Oasis also features a squared map which you reveal tile by tile, but it requires much more consideration. Tiles are suggestive of possible adjacent tiles. Revealing the map is satisfying. There are cities that, once exposed, grow with every turn. Do you spend your limited turns searching, or building roads to interconnect the cities discovered so far, which further increases their growth? You'll need the population, as each map ends with a sweeping barbarian invasion. On the face of it, a conceptually simple game, but polished and a careful thought will serve you very well.

edit:
*To be fair, though, I haven't played for very long.

Themken: Freudian slip? Played a lot of RS (a momprpg, or however you spell it)?
Ha no that must be an autocorrect thingy going on there. Never played Runescape actually.
Seconded.
Nice game with a great release discount.

Will pick it up when I get home tonight.

musteriuz: That does look interesting.
is it an older game?
it reads:
Released
Apr 12, 2005

you discover more 'land' as you move on the map
this game looks familiar, it might be possible i played this game or a demo or at least a game that looks very similar, it looks so familiar :D
When i saw the screenshots i got a deja vu feeling....

edit:
yup, i already played this game when it was first released as demo, o its dejavu but a real experience, i played the demo, there is a demo, i found it using google, its 1 hour demo or 59min59seconds

they asked 19.99usd at the moment of the game released demo, that is to high, furthermore its from nevosoft
i have some nevosoft games, they are mainly casualgames designers or they must have changed to also make larger projects, that, i dont know.

For a casual game its a decent game, best list price drm fre would be 9.09 or anything < 10 dollars
ultimate price would be 6 or 7 bucks like the braveland series.
check the image of the start of the demo

bigfish and iwin type games .
you can register the demo after you paid for the key online so theres no need to reinstall, thats typical casuals

Thats why i only buy drm free games and drm free casualgames. :D

catpower1980: mmmm, I wouldn't want to cut down on GOG and dev sales but this games reminds me VERY HIGHLY of Dungelot on my android smartphone and personally, I find the touch controls more suited to play this kind of game casually... I guess this Runestone Keeper must be as highly addictive and good as the "original" game but I prefer it the mobile way (fun to play while my meal is cooking....)

I played Dungelot for a while, enjoyed it. I'm kinda considering this one (makes me wish our wishlist could be split into "Want" and "Considering").

There's also a PC and Mac version of Dungelot. Played it some years ago and really liked it. Remember that there were some bugs though.
