"But if you tame me, then we shall need each other".

The developers promised to deliver a DRM-free version of the game and this is them honoring that promise!

RiME, the beautifully evocative puzzle adventure of a boy and a fox exploring a wondrous island, is now available, DRM-free on GOG.com with a 10% launch discount.

You are unsure of what lies ahead and how to approach it. Guided by your instincts and inherent curiosity, you follow this strange fox and start studying the environment for clues, secrets, and hidden interactions. The beauty of the island and its strange inhabitants will eventually reveal themselves to you but when that happens, will you still be that same impressionable boy?

The 10% discount lasts until June 23, 1PM UTC.

In the Press:

"In paring back its design and focusing on only a few key elements, the studio has created an uncommonly beautiful, open-hearted game." - 9/10 EDGE

"I haven't played anything like this since Journey. It is a stunning game to explore and exist in, and the story is going to move a lot of people." - 9/10 God is a Geek

Watch the lovely trailer.

mechmouse: I wonder if we'll see Grey Goo here?
Yes please!
I so didn't see this coming. Bought.

adaliabooks: If I've followed the story correctly, I'm pretty sure that's exactly what they did.
They always planned to patch out Denuvo once it had been successfully cracked, and true to their word they did.

I have absolutely no problem with this method of DRM, if you want to protect the initial few weeks or months of a new release from piracy and then release it DRM free then go ahead.

paladin181: Hear hear!! Even The Witcher 3 had release day DRM (a file you HAD to download from GOG to play the game).
Are you serious here? All Witcher 3 did was a form of a preload option to let people get access faster to the game when it has finally been released. No DRM here! Until this day you'll still have to download files to play the game ;)
avatar
Lobuno: I hope people you know that implementing DENUVO (or any other intensive DRM) costs a lot of money, time an resources. For all of that you will be paying extra instead of proper game resources if you happily support that behaviour. I myself prefer better game mechanics, graphics, support, etc...
avatar
muntdefems: That's... probably true, considering the most likely crazy regional pricing scheme for this game. In regIT (Italy, Cyprus, Spain, Greece and Portugal) it's got a 31% surcharge: $35.54 vs. $26.99.
I think you forgot Germany - about 7 Euro "store credit" when buying this game is ridiculous. Won't support it or the DRM believing devs.

I didn't know it, until recently either.

Lol, there we go.

This should be good learning experience for devs who think Denuvo is worth a damn anymore. Just release your game the right way.
I found about this game few weeks back, from a video from one of my favourite artists. I didn't know about the Denuvo controversy, and I don't think I care enough, as long as it got here. When considered in context of drm-free Skyrim or Syberia 3, few weeks wait after launch is very acceptable.

The price is pretty steep right now (after bethesda and capcom surprises, and summer sale), but I will most likely be getting it sooner or later.

Djaron: so after they released the game with paranoiac settings on their denuvo crap like 30 triggers/sec (of course, with NO IMPACT on game performances, you can guess)

now they finaly got thgeir denuvo cracked at the speed of light (matter of DAYS, or so i heard) they come here, tail between legs and head down, in hope they could at least scrap some more cash from DRM-Free customers community ?

i see that as a form of insult if you ask me, and would it only be in my hands, i'd have kicked their ass back to where they come from...

i didnt check yet the PR speech before game's launch and such, but would i do that, i can't be sure i wouldnt find some same anti "drm free customers" badmouthing as i saw one year ago from gremlins inc devs as well

for future devs: NEVER EVER badmouth and spit on drm free community when launching a game, especially denuvo
loaded, by thinking you will be protected. It will help you not looking like an idiot when you crawl back from your cave, licking your hacvked drm wound and come here to beg for coins !

you could rather say: we plan for a release on drm free platform in the future, but we yet prefer to focus on major platform release first for now. it is ok, peeps can understand that, no offense taken, and in case things turn sour and wrong, you keep your dignity

Primo_Victoria: Indeed, and then I saw the price. lol, see you in 2-3 years, RiME.

MaceyNeil: looks like another wandering around simulator.

Primo_Victoria: But there's a fox!
Even though a fox is the most cat like dog there is in the animal kingdom the fact that a game includes one by no way sways me. If I wanted a pet that reacts to me wandering about I'd buy one. On a side note I believe you can actually buy a form of domesticated fox now; or even more bizarrely a scientist has made glow in the dark part octopus bunnies. Game makers need to really step outside the box reality is trumping them.
I'm very much interested, but it's bad timing for me. I already spent what I was going to spend for this sale period, so this one will have to wait for a later date.

It's nice to see another game unchained from Denuvo, especially one I was initially going to pick up day-1, but I can't think of a way of buying this that doesn't send the message that I'll bend over and take any anti-consumer DRM so long as the developers are super super sorry about it afterward.

Maybe next time don't include that trash to begin with.

I was just about to write it!
At the end of the summer sale most people spent their budget.
But I will definitely buy it at some point later.
These guys are very talented.

But how is this different then having to download the whole game from your account? You can still play the game without being connected to the internet at all. And after having the "file" downloaded you would never need to download it again. So for me it feels the same as downloading the game once and then playing hassle free.

Is it possible to give this a +1000?

And another game with Denuvo releases here AFTER it got cracked.

It's DRM when you buy a disc from the store and have to download a patch from the site to even play the game. If I buy a disc copy I shouldn't need to go online to run the game I bought on the disc.

They sell domesticated fennecs? A chihuahua can be close enough, it's like a little fox with less energy.

Paradoks: It's unfortunate that Denuvo was used in the first place, but what we get is still way better than what happened to Tekken 7:
1) Tekken is released with Denuvo.
2) Tekken 7 is cracked in 4 days.
3) Bandai Namco releases a patch... updating Denuvo to a newer version.
I believe the exact same thing happened with Mass Effect Andromeda. Though in addition to having their PC invested with Denuvo, anyone dumb enough to support that ineptly cobbled together mess of an "RPG" deserves to have their PC explode into a gigantic inferno as far as I'm concerned.

Sure, just create 1000 GOG accounts.
