Classic RPG hack'n'slashin'.

Revenant, an astonishing and supremely fun classic aRPG, is available now on Windows, DRM-free on GOG.com.

Revenant is here today to serve as a fun-filled throwback to how things used to be done back in the day, and a chance to truly hack it like it's 1999. There's a lot to say about Revenant, but no matter what, the keyword is always "fun". In a game all about combat - smooth controls, responsiveness, and that feeling of weight behind your every attack are all-important, and even today Revenant hits the right spots. Despite its age, the colorful backdrops holds up amazingly well and the motion-captured combat continues to surprise with its variety, over-the-top violence, and plenty of dismemberment. There's a few inventive things to be found here as well, including a magic casting system based on combining runes and talismans to uncover stunning and powerful spells that will let you spectacularly clear out rooms with a single gesture. Beyond that, Revenant is a game of loot, loot, loot, plenty of weapons, great character design and most of all... fun.

Hack away at Revenant, available now, DRM-free on GOG.com!

timppu: Odd, I thought GOG already had this game? I must have mixed it up with some other hack'n'slash game from the same era, possibly Darkstone...

I think I have this game on CD though (at least that guy on the poster looks familiar), so it'll have to wait for a sale before I might buy it.
You're thinking Soul Bringer. For the life of me I have never been able to get it to run on any computer.

Shadowflight: Good game, does it have 360 controller support? The original could use controllers but you had to assign all the buttons manually.
avatar
Venita: Probably not. Eidos games weren't too good with controllers. You could try Joy to Key if you really wanna play with a controller.
What's the maximum resolution the game runs at?

awalterj: Check out Seal of Evil as well if you want to get into those Chinese Diablo clones, could interest you as well.
That looks even better! In a manner of speaking, I'm still full from the countless hours I spent with Diablo 2 and its expansion in highschool. It seems that the game takes a long time to digest, thankfully :)

awalterj: Ah, I remember seeing the thread and I thought about what it could be but nothing came to mind. I also never played Queen: The eYe, completely forgot about the existence of the game altogether. All that I can recall is reading a rather poor review in one of the German magazines I read at the time, and the whole RL music band soundtrack thing kinda turned me off, imho it's immersion breaking to hear songs you already know when you're playing a sci-fi or fantasy game.
Oh I can imagine, like when people dub, for example, Pirates of the Caribbean music onto gameplay videos they put on youtube. I sometimes come across such examples when I'm trying to look up the gameplay of some old classic.
I also can't remember 'Queen : The Eye' being a great game or anything,. I tried to play the demo and quickly lost interest. It would've been just another random old gaming memory except for one thing that kinda struck me as odd at the time, that is that I had to run it from DOS.

keeveek: What's the maximum resolution the game runs at?
It seems to be fixed, I haven't found anyway to change the resolution, I have a post in the specific forum, but not much help I am afraid. The graphics look awful on my monitor and there doesn't appear to be any mods. My next thought was to create a VM, put this inside and resize the vm, at least with a small window the graphics should look better, although the graphic glitches will still be there (missing map, doors or screwed up doors, black squares around candles etc.). Its a shame as the game looks quite good.

No, there is a windowed option you can add to the exe, however on mine it just refused to run. Support have stated that its set to run full screen for a reason, hence why I am looking to box it off some other way.

As for the resolution, its probably 640x480, hard to say. Looking at the screenshots is a bit misleading, save the picture to desktop, then zoom it to fit screen (in paint or something), you will see how pixelated it is. And the graphical glitches are far more noticeable. Am not one to moan, and its a great release, just disappointed about the res issues.
Hmm one I don't recall seeing back then. Will hold off until a time when the credit card has a healthy balance.

Now both feet on the ground, brace position and deflect any attempt for GOG to extract money from me for the next week until next pay.

Thanks for the reply, it was more of a question as to whether I should purchase it. If it had 360 controller support I would buy it, but it would appear it is basically the original version which I already have. Thank you :)
Great!! Been waiting for this one!
