So it's a rail shooter... long time no see. Not my favourite genre, but could just be the thing to let off some steam that piled up managing work and home-schooling. And at a real fair price too.

Dohi64: looks like a regular shooter to me. edit: not so much after the review linked above. either way, it doesn't look good, but at least they're not selling it for 20-30 eur.

op-si: At what I read, there are sections in the game, where you can manoveur/fly/control the ship yourself, but at least 80 % of content in this games is on-rail. That doesn't mean it is bad.
I would've actually preferred a straight-up railshooter, not many of those around, but ideally not a mobile game and something less generic.
I took the plunge and my experience is pretty decent:

-It is a rail shooter so if you don't like that type of game well you can move on

-Has multiple objective to reach in each area and can repeat levels to achieve this.

-Can buy upgrades for your ship

-Runs very smooth, the ship feels a bit floaty at first but you can adapt to it.

It runs great in Linux almost like a native program (Using Proton)

I did enjoy it since I grew up on these types of games so I don't feel I wasted my money.

Swissy88: Finna boutta shoot laser beams n shiet.
Ass fi sheeps cost nothin.
It is very solid, but I have to get myself a gamepad/controller. With keyboard it is a bit... hmm... I don't know, maybe I am too old.

Anyway, here is a relatively short gameplay video:

viperfdl: Looked at reviews from steam and found this video review.
No, thank you. Not my cup of tea.
OMFG!!.. Video seems to sum the game up.
Rail shooter
Not surprising it was firstly a mobile game.. Thanks for saving my money :)
Is there a good rail shooter on GOG? I was in the mood to play one but it looks like this game isn't good.

You know a review is going to be reliable when the first thing it talks about in an action game is the voice acting.

Yes you DO have a reticle to aim with, no the roll move is not pointless, it provides invincibility frames to survive the bullet patterns he kept getting wrecked by. GIT GUD, youtube reviewer!

I do agree the stat grinding sucks.

The reviews on steam doesn't look much better: https://store.steampowered.com/app/886060/Redout_Space_Assault/
But if you like the game than go buy it. :)

Only other Rail Shooter I can think of off the top of my head is the Panzer Dragoon Remake, however I would wait for a deep sale on it as it can be completed in under 30 minutes and there aren't any bonus objectives to offer replay value.

This is a much better deal in comparison if you want to compare straight content.
OK, I finally managed to got an Xbox 360 gamepad and yes, it does indeed work much better with it. Actually it is good. But will have to play further.

Still 4 stars from me. I would like to try to play with mouse, but sadly no support.
A fresh gameplay video with a gamepad this time:

Yes, it is much smoother to play with a controller, than with the keyboard.

Looks fun! Might scratch the itch I've had for years since Nintendo seems unable to make a good Starfox game these days.

Zimerius: And only 9 euro's?
Nice price, lucky you. It's almost $15 here, more than 60% above of the US price. What greedy bastards... Blacklisted!

Regional pricing. For me it was 9 € after the 10% discount, that is about 10,7 $ here.

Yeah, it definitely is fun, I have to say. Yesterda I managed to finish two additional levels (the are solid and short, that is a good thing)

I will try to make another video today or tomorrow. It depends, how I can arrange my free time.
