Somewhere, over the railroad.

Railroad Tycoon Bundle, which contains the three games that put this sub-genre on track, is now available DRM-free on GOG.com with a 66% launch discount. Buying each game individually grants you a 50% discount, instead.

There is something strangely exhilarating, wondrous, and just downright fun to playing with trains. Could be the fact that trains give the impression of moving on their own, almost like a living organism. Could also be about the unmistakably retro feel of the locomotive, which makes it seem like a relic of a bygone era that is still somehow relevant. Mostly, though, trains are cool because the views associated with riding them are consistently breathtaking.

To capture the magic of what the railroad meant for human transportation, one must go back to 1804, then slowly work their way closer and closer to modern times. Railroad 2: Platinum and Railroad Tycoon 3 are the best express tickets for such a journey, letting you build whole networks of railroad tracks, closely inspect the different types of available train engines, and take in the awesome landscapes. Once you have absorbed and mastered the craft of railroad management, ask the conductor to set course for Sid Meier's Railroads!. It is here that you will put those strategy/simulation skills to the test and try to build the grandest rail empire in the nation, despite your opponents' shrewd efforts to derail you.

Catch a ride to the history and challenges of the locomotive in the Railroad Tycoon Bundle, DRM-free on GOG.com. The 66% bundle discount and the 50% individual discounts will last until April 5, 13:59 BST / 5:59 AM PDT / 8:59 AM EDT.

animalmother2105: Thanks guys.

EDIT: Also, how do the other games compare to RT2?
I didn't own Sid Meier's Railroads until now so cannot comment on this, but I did spent times on RT2, 3 and the original.
RT2 is more like a simplified version to the original, no single management is required, better graphics, interesting campaign.
RT3 is more realistic in terms of commodity movement. Goods will find their means to their destination (same as Train Fever), in long term the price will be equalize because of it, which forces you to make a long distance transportation for big profit.
Wagon can set to automatic for best profit instead of fixed cars in RT2, and manual assign is accepted.
Overall RT3 is the easiest then come with 2 and original.
RT3 comes with a mini game not mentioned in store page.
Any blue can update the description?
Guys, just a little heads up. RRT 2 has a really weird bug that happens upon launching the game through the desktop icon. A window pops up with a no cd inserted error, but it can be bypassed by simply spamming cancel a couple of times :D. Hope that some of the "blue" guys ;) see this and whack the mole.Btw,my system runs Windows 10 Pro 64 bit. Cheers.

Does this happen if you launch if from the Start menu instead?

BubbaSatori: I'm having a brain fart. How do I add this to my cart instead of buy it now? I want to get some other games. Thanks.
avatar
animalmother2105: Add them one by one through their gamecards. Once you have all games from a bundle in the cart, you shold see the bigger discount on the check out page. Then add the other games.
Thanks!

It still warrants a Support ticket so please send us one with any screenshots and additional info you can give us so we can fix this :)
Does anyone know if RRT3 comes with the Coast to Coast expansion? I couldn't see anything in the game description mentioning it.

tinyE: These games need a Snowpiercer mod. :P

Transarctica tried to cover that with mixed success.

HunchBluntley: This part ^ ...
Seems to belie this part:

RT 2 starts off with a map, that's it. XD It doesn't give you a clue as to what the hell your objective is. I ended up just clicking on buttons until it stopped telling me I couldn't do something.

HunchBluntley: Games as old as the first couple Railroad Tycoons generally assume that the player has R'dTFM (and often require the player to).
One of the few game manuals of mine that was dog-eared. Referred back to that one a lot.
I found what I thought was a good FAQ for #2 but the guy tells me to build a single track between towns and have two trains going opposite directions on it, one with cargo the other with passengers.

A single track.

What happens when they hit? :P

Do you have dispatcher operations active? :V

One of the reasons I don't often buy old digital games of certain types that were prone to having bulky manuals is that I don't like .PDF manuals much in general (though they're much better than nothing), and especially dislike having to Alt-Tab out of a game to look something up in one every couple minutes. It's the main reason I never did much in King of Dragon Pass, despite really digging the game overall.
