barleyguy: Nor do I care about ANY comparisons to Steam.
Comparisons to Steam for identical games are definitely highly relevant, as that is the only way to determine whether or not the game has full feature parity, and therefore if the dev/publisher is giving customers equal & fair treatment across both platforms...

...or alternatively, if the game is missing features, lacking parity, and the devs/publishers are therefore treating GOG customers unfairly, unequally and like second-class citizens.

There is no excuse for the latter. If they can bother to give Steam customers Achievements, then they can and should certainly also bother to give GOG customers Achievements, especially when GOG customers don't get any special "second-class citizen discount" to compensate for the removed feature(s).

barleyguy: Also, I don't care about achievements, at all. Nor do I care about ANY comparisons to Steam. It doesn't exist to me, so what happens there is completely irrelevant to my existence.
Just to clarify: Like I said, I don't care for achievements myself. But when devs don't implement a feature (no matter how insignificant) on GOG which they do implement on another PC storefront, I tend to see this as a bad sign, even if it's just a small one.

We all know that some devs and publishers consider their GOG customer base an afterthought, which leads some of them to not release additional content or even properly patch their games here. And at that point, comparisons to other storefronts are in order, since this makes some games on GOG objectively worse than they could be.

And I'm not saying that this will happen here, I have no idea how dilligent Double Fine and XBox Game Studios have been about supporting their GOG releases thus far. But the fact that they could have taken an additional hour or so to implement this feature in their 59.99 Euro release leaves me with a bit of a sour aftertaste in my mouth, which they could have easily avoided.

While I'm not surprised at the full retail price, and it does look nice, it's definitely not among my gaming priorities. I enjoyed the original for what it was, but I'm never going to wax poetic about it. I've liked Tim Schafer & Co's games in the past, but I can't say I've ever been in love with any of them. *shrug*

For me this would be the perfect opportunity to eventually sub for another single month of Gamepass (and play another 2 or 3 other games during that month).

eric5h5: Seems the Mac and Linux versions are delayed by a few months.
An increasing amount of games find themselves in the same situation, sadly. But I guess there is a big push from publishers to get the game *out there*, so "exotic" OS support will be collateral damage. At least they're considering it in the first place. I'll probably wait for the Linux build to be added... and maybe a discount at this stage. The game is getting good reviews and I'm a fan of the first, but these are not exactly friendly prices in the current world economy.

$99.95 AUD?!

Fuck off...
Looks nice enough... but 74CHF ($82)... yeah. No way.

lostwolfe: it's a tim schafer game?

yeah, hard, hard, hard pass.
Actually it's a game made by many people, probably with a lot of love involved.
Try to ponder on that thought a little.

Not everything he touched turned out to be gold. However, if this is only a sliver of what the original Psychonauts was I'm going to be very happy. Looking at people who already played, my chances on that seem to be good.

The only sad thing is, I got my Fig key much sooner than the normal release but by the time I had it downloaded, it was sleepy time. And today I won't even get to try it until late tonight either... :(
Wanted this but, ouch, that price...

I don't complain about the price of a game very often, much less about some games being overpriced. In this case though, considering who owns Double Fine now, Microsoft, this is shady business to force their gamepass on customers. It isn't by accident that most their new releases are overpriced and no wonder they advertise and sell their game pass on discount on practically every other shop. Last I seen this on Amazon because my old mouse gone the way of the dodo. Hardware bundled with their pass on discount for numerous keyboards and mice or as extra when not directly bundled to the offer.

This is a game I was looking forward to. However I will not buy it on discount or otherwise. This just supports a ridiculous pricing policy and their XBOX gamepass, which the one I don't see reason to and the other I don't need nor want.

As soon as I saw "But I can get this on Gamepass for a fraction of the price" comments and saw the publisher was "Xbox Game Studios", I wondered the same thing...
years ago I would have jumped on it. now, I'm kinda grown out of Psychonauts and Double Fine, there's plenty of other exciting stuff out there and it's English only. I don't feel the hype. Brutal Legend on GOG is still missing the multiplayer...
LOL 60 euros. I had missed that. Ahahahah!

With all of Microsoft's money and the price of the game, there's no excuse for not adding achievements on GOG as well, but that's not surprising since Double Fine has always been abysmal in their treatment of their GOG customers.

Backers who have requested a copy on GOG will be happy to know that their money is worth less than those who wanted a Steam copy. This is simply sloppiness in the treatment of what should be their "masterpiece".

Ok... not to derail this release thread too much, but do I see this correctly, that I could buy the game here for 60 Euros, or just get a 1 Euro gamepass that I can quit on a monthly basis...?
