amok: yes, it is the same thing. basegame + all DLC = Architect's Edition

MadalinStroe: Yes I know that, but I was referring to the fact that every sale from now, I'll receive notifications that I don't own the Architect's edition.

Just like every other game entry on GOG, that has: base game+deluxe content vs complete edition.

If you buy the complete edition, then all three: complete + deluxe content + base will be marked as owned.
But if you buy the base + deluxe content, then the complete edition will remain marked as not-owned.
ahh, I see. so you do not actually care about the game, but rather the functionality of the store.

Well, each to their own, but I must say I do not share your priorities.

Well I bought the game and DLC as they trickled down. So, I would say that I care enough, considering that as a rule, I only buy games, that I would play right now, if I had the free time to do so.

I can't speak for anyone else but I believe MadalinStroe's problem is similar to one I have. Every time I check a sale I investigate whether the games or DLC being offered are worth adding to my cart.

So when I see pieces of a game I already own or a version different from one I already own I take some time checking what I'm missing. It is a waste of my time in this situation where I already own that stuff, the store is able to identify that is the case yet they won't take that extra step to help me best use my time.

(It is also bad for gog: the more time I waste checking something I won't buy, the least time I'll have left for other stuff that would interest me further down the list. If I don't properly check it I don't buy it, period. But I digress.)

And if that wasn't enough it leaves open the possibility of me double dipping if I forget I already own that game. It is a real possibility because I'm not some sort of machine with perfect memory. I have hundreds of games and I may forget I already own one when I see it on sale out of the "Already owned" section. And obviously I first bought that game because I thought it was something I would enjoy, so there's a pretty good chance I'll reach the same conclusion again and reach for my card.

When MaGog was active I used to integrate it in my sale browsing. I created a category called "ignore forever" which I used to mark games I knew I shouldn't ever spend a cent on, including complete editions of games I already own all the components. All those games would be filtered out from a MaGog search and I could concentrate on the stuff I wanted. (Unfortunately after Legacy mode started that's not an option anymore, or a flawed one at best.)

So, to sum it all up: No it's not because I care more about the functionality of the store than the game, it's because I don't want to waste neither my time nor my money. I can't say it's the same for anyone else of course.
