Losing is fun.

Prison Architect, the only prison you'll never want to leave, is available now for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux, DRM-free on GOG.com featuring GOG Galaxy achievements with a 33% launch discount.

After two years of alpha - Prison Architect, the premiere prison sim, is finally complete. Since its alpha premiere, it has been played by millions and became something of a household name in the indie scene, and for good reason: Prison Architect is a deep web of interlocking systems that interact with each other in complex, sometimes hilarious ways. Combined with a Dwarf Fortress-like approach, even the most insignificant problem can snowball into total chaos - but no matter what happens, losing is fun.
Playing Prison Architect is like watching the inner workings of a clock - one that you made all by yourself - and the term "like clockwork" will take on a new, particularly satisfying meaning. You'll also tackle moral dilemmas (should you find yourself anything but indifferent). Are you about precision & efficiency, do you believe criminals should be put to work, or would you prefer to do everything in your power to reintegrate them into society? Prison Architect will not be judgmental.
The Prison Architect release introduces two major features: Story Chapters, and Escape Mode.
Story Chapters are a way for new players to get acquainted with the many facets of Prison Architect. In what resembles a condensed alpha experience, the Story Chapters will increase in complexity and introduce more and more features to the game as you go on. You'll be running a full-blown, fully-simulated prison before you know it.
So you've built your prison. You've optimised your fortress of righteousness. Now, are you up to the challenge of escaping your very own creation? In an entertaining gameplay reversal, Escape mode puts you in the shoes of just another prisoner and tasks you with two goals: 1) Get by. 2) Get out. Build up your character from zero to anti hero with a multitude of perks, smuggle a teaspoon and dig your way out, or build up a reputation and start an all-out revolution.

Alongside your game, you can pick up the Aficionado DLC, and score access to the official Artbook as well as OST.

Losing is fun in Prison Architect, available now, DRM-free on GOG.com. The discount will last for one week, until Tuesday, October 13, 2:59 PM GMT.

GOG.com: After two years of alpha
There were 36 (monthly) alphas. That is three years.
Wow! I've always dreamed about being a prison architect! Planning the cells, the showers, how many tables and seats in the soup kitchen, how many guard towers and at which corners, whether there should be a moat around the prison full of sharks, crocodiles and gold fish, etc. etc. etc. The possibilities are endless!

Seriously speaking, I always find it interesting when a title, of which I know next to nothing about but I would have probably passed with a "meh?", gets so much praise. Makes me want to learn what is the reason for all the praise.

By the way, did someone already make that toilet simulator?

Good, so I wasn't dreaming that after all.

Gearmos: I really want the DRM-Free version of this game but seriously... 13.32€ on Steam and 18.69€ here... :-/

JudasIscariot: Please check again as the price should be different now :)
Wich price? Steam, Humble or gog's? As of now, Steam (13,32 €) undercuts humble (17,32), wich in turn barely undercuts gog (17,99 fairprice credit considered)).

Not that the diference is enough to consider supporting drm.

I know that........NOW! :P

I just cooked a guy. Not very fiscally sound. I could have saved a small fortune just dragging him into the yard and shooting him, but no, they want a whole other building, and extra power, and tiled floors!

Yup, but it's a little lacking in the details (For example, I had some trouble creating a meeting zone for the support group : I had many seats in a big public room, but it didn't check until I rebuilt a smaller, more intimate place).

But most of what it doesn't explain (like how to deploy the firemen) can be guessed (click on the fireman, then right click on the destination)

At least for me, the price is €13.39 here.

What I like about the sandbox is being able to turn on/off unlimited funds. At least that way you don't have to go broke just because you couldn't figure out how to place an entrance. :P And yes, that took me a LONG time to figure out.

Kardwill:
Havent bothered with it myself - but then having had to figure out a lot of it on my own during early access there doesnt seem much point.

You realise you can start a prison, save it, then edit the finance line in the file and add whatever funding you want instead?! - ultimately the same thing I suppose - though i've found unlimited funding games to be far crazier in the past.

Just thinking on this - are you sure its not the seating type?! - I can never remember which seating type it is, so I always whack all three in the common room and job done!

im not sure - though I'd guess it could be modded out.
My dorm was rumored to have been built by a prison architect. Once the largest resident complex on the continent with its own zip code. I was in Jester East.
