Losing is fun.

Prison Architect, the only prison you'll never want to leave, is available now for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux, DRM-free on GOG.com featuring GOG Galaxy achievements with a 33% launch discount.

After two years of alpha - Prison Architect, the premiere prison sim, is finally complete. Since its alpha premiere, it has been played by millions and became something of a household name in the indie scene, and for good reason: Prison Architect is a deep web of interlocking systems that interact with each other in complex, sometimes hilarious ways. Combined with a Dwarf Fortress-like approach, even the most insignificant problem can snowball into total chaos - but no matter what happens, losing is fun.
Playing Prison Architect is like watching the inner workings of a clock - one that you made all by yourself - and the term "like clockwork" will take on a new, particularly satisfying meaning. You'll also tackle moral dilemmas (should you find yourself anything but indifferent). Are you about precision & efficiency, do you believe criminals should be put to work, or would you prefer to do everything in your power to reintegrate them into society? Prison Architect will not be judgmental.
The Prison Architect release introduces two major features: Story Chapters, and Escape Mode.
Story Chapters are a way for new players to get acquainted with the many facets of Prison Architect. In what resembles a condensed alpha experience, the Story Chapters will increase in complexity and introduce more and more features to the game as you go on. You'll be running a full-blown, fully-simulated prison before you know it.
So you've built your prison. You've optimised your fortress of righteousness. Now, are you up to the challenge of escaping your very own creation? In an entertaining gameplay reversal, Escape mode puts you in the shoes of just another prisoner and tasks you with two goals: 1) Get by. 2) Get out. Build up your character from zero to anti hero with a multitude of perks, smuggle a teaspoon and dig your way out, or build up a reputation and start an all-out revolution.

Alongside your game, you can pick up the Aficionado DLC, and score access to the official Artbook as well as OST.

Losing is fun in Prison Architect, available now, DRM-free on GOG.com. The discount will last for one week, until Tuesday, October 13, 2:59 PM GMT.

zgrillo2004: the game IMHO promote anti-police propeganda, because they are making the police the bad guys and criminals good guys.
Wait, what? You are the prison warden, so you are in control of the guards. You need to make sure the prisoners behave, though the prisoners are likely to cause riots and problems with the prison. The guards are doing their job, they are not harassing the "poor prisoners".
Can you give me an example of the police being the bad guys or the prisoners being the good guys in the game?

If you mean the guards as police, then they can definately be bad - if YOU are a mean warden / "prison architect"

No. What I mean is that the police being featured in the campaign are being portrayed as bad guys that are mean and and just want to wield a gun. IMHO its a stereotype. and with the current political upheaval against the police by people like Al Sharpton and Bill DeBlasio with their anti-police campaign, its making the real police force look bad. im sorry if this isnt the place to talk about it but its just that so many police officers in the real world are dying by criminals because of what happened in Ferguson or Baltimore that no policemen is safe anymore.
Go easy on zgrillo, he's very tired. He's been up all night trying to prove that Judas Priest and Ozzy Osbourne are responsible for 75% of the teen suicides in this country.

Now if you don't mind, I'm going to go on a shooting spree which honestly, until I bought Doom 2 here, I never had an inclination to do.

zgrillo2004:
That really has little to no bearing on anyone outside of the USA - so with that in mind, you might understand an amount of "eh?" in response to your initial post by those of us not living under the Dollar Imperium (yet!).

Also, haven't seen any police in any campaign for this (not that I've been looking for one), so can't really comment on that, but I can tell you my personal experience of cops has been mostly negative, but I doubt something like prison architect is likely to cause a shooting or an anti-police political action and / or riot. That would be daft.

I was reading the prisoner list and someone listed their crime as going on a killing spree after one too many sarcastic comments during an online gaming session. :P

BTW, I found you and transferred you, but does that stick or do I have to do it every time I play?

I've seen that one actually.

Yup - everytime you start a new prison, you have to transfer in any specific inmates you want. UNLESS... you do what I do and make a basic layout file (so all cordoned off with the layout tool as you like it) and transfer the prisoners you want and then save, and use that savegame each time for a new clink!
i think it is not anti cop propaganda

i find it refreshing to be in charge of carceral system and being allowed to make it as "moral" as i want, compared to the mess it is irl (private firms in charge of it for profit, bribing judges to get more prisonners, more often)

one thing i like is how deep you can micromanage security level and policies. it helps not mixing up rapists and serial killers with minor offenders, and treat them as lightly or harshly according to their crimes.

there are ratings in the game to measure this as well

in fact the game is so deep in details and mechanism that you just HAVE TO ignore some of them cause you cant play with all of them at once. means it gives much replayability, and also many gamewise different perspectives, mechanisms and srategies to play it

jesus, nowadays people see propaganda, ill behavior, and offense in the slightest things. it is just insane. nowadays you have to nearly think 5 minutes to just speak out one line sentence to some people in order for them not to go postal at you misinterpreting it or feeling "insulted" with it. Might as well dump away 3/4 of the current words.

it is just a game, there is no hidden agenda or message behind it, it is just insane micromanagement, it is for gamers who like depth in their game.

Surgeon Simulator, Prison Architect...

now there are quite some games in the world I would not want to play even if I would get paid for it.

zgrillo2004: That was harassment. I would suggest you stop
No, that was a sense of humor.

I would suggest you get one. :P

And BTW, those PMs you are sending me are harassment, not that it matters, because I'm blocking you, like a rational human being who doesn't dedicate their life to being offended.

Why is it I feel the impotent rage of being highly offended by the idea of you being rational!? ;P
