Losing is fun.

Prison Architect, the only prison you'll never want to leave, is available now for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux, DRM-free on GOG.com featuring GOG Galaxy achievements with a 33% launch discount.

After two years of alpha - Prison Architect, the premiere prison sim, is finally complete. Since its alpha premiere, it has been played by millions and became something of a household name in the indie scene, and for good reason: Prison Architect is a deep web of interlocking systems that interact with each other in complex, sometimes hilarious ways. Combined with a Dwarf Fortress-like approach, even the most insignificant problem can snowball into total chaos - but no matter what happens, losing is fun.
Playing Prison Architect is like watching the inner workings of a clock - one that you made all by yourself - and the term "like clockwork" will take on a new, particularly satisfying meaning. You'll also tackle moral dilemmas (should you find yourself anything but indifferent). Are you about precision & efficiency, do you believe criminals should be put to work, or would you prefer to do everything in your power to reintegrate them into society? Prison Architect will not be judgmental.
The Prison Architect release introduces two major features: Story Chapters, and Escape Mode.
Story Chapters are a way for new players to get acquainted with the many facets of Prison Architect. In what resembles a condensed alpha experience, the Story Chapters will increase in complexity and introduce more and more features to the game as you go on. You'll be running a full-blown, fully-simulated prison before you know it.
So you've built your prison. You've optimised your fortress of righteousness. Now, are you up to the challenge of escaping your very own creation? In an entertaining gameplay reversal, Escape mode puts you in the shoes of just another prisoner and tasks you with two goals: 1) Get by. 2) Get out. Build up your character from zero to anti hero with a multitude of perks, smuggle a teaspoon and dig your way out, or build up a reputation and start an all-out revolution.

Alongside your game, you can pick up the Aficionado DLC, and score access to the official Artbook as well as OST.

Losing is fun in Prison Architect, available now, DRM-free on GOG.com. The discount will last for one week, until Tuesday, October 13, 2:59 PM GMT.

hummer010: I bought it as part of Humble Indie Bundle 12. It is updated in my Humble library. I downloaded version 1.0 last night. You shouldn't have to re-buy. Hopefully Humble support gets it sorted for you.

adaliabooks: Is your version working?
That's the one I've got and the graphics don't seem to be loading right...
I haven't had a chance to look at it for now than a couple of minutes, but it seemed to be working just fine.

I'm on Linux, so I've only tried the Linux version.

Umm...

Check now? After seeing your post, 12 minutes ago, I went to my humble library and found an August version as well (bought in a humble store sale). (Though my available file was marked as one day earlier and about 2 mb lighter than yours.)

And now it's dated yesterday. Kinda odd that it happened right then...

Of course... probably would be different then anyway. Thanks

Re downloading it straight from Introversion (after registering my steam key and registering the key steam gave me on their site) to see if it's me or Humble's version.

At a guess might it be that because it updated?! - sometimes ive had to do a clean install in the past and its seems the v1.0 release caused Steam to completely reinstall it.

I thought so, but I've redownloaded the files, deleted the old ones and put them in (there's no install with the DRM free version, you just unzip it) and cleared my save info and it's still happening.

I've reported it as a bug on their site.

This is what the first campaign level looks like to me... note the missing... everything. :/

I'm guessing maybe a driver issue or something like it then?! - have had similar with other games in the past. Beyond that, I have no idea

rjspring: looks fun, but 4GB of RAM and graphics card requirements will make it unplayable on my old Mint GOG machine... :(
avatar
Sachys: it definately doesnt need 4gb of ram unless you manage to build a superclink full to the brink with maybe 5000 prisoners. I think it uses about 1gb of ram on average.

as to the graphics card, all I can tell you is I run it absolutely fine on an intel hd 4000.

hope thats of... hope?!
yes, it is. Thanks!
thank you people for your feedbacks. seems i got now a 260mb file in my library instead of the august smaller version.

that is why i often wait (or buy again if i couldnt wait) games to be released on gog.

things run usually smoothly here.

HB is a "lesser evil" when you dont want to "feed" steam, want drm free games but when they are late to show themselves on gog (outlast, xenonauts, etc)

i may gog-buy prison architect someday (during a sale) as replacement of my hb version

Thanks, that does sound like the same issue. I'll have a look at my catalyst settings later.

Crosmando: Kinda weird that the game is $20 on sale but $15 if you already own all Introversion's previous games.
Noticed that too. Since I owned all previous games, I got Pricon Architect to a price I was willing to pay, including the DLC. :-)
avatar
IAmSinistar: And the "complete the series" pricing is super sweet - $14.33 for the game and DLC on release.
Thanks for mentioning that. Was going to pass on this until I read your post. That is indeed a much nicer price.

I have been looking at videos and lets plays of this game and im gonna say this. the game IMHO promote anti-police propaganda, because they are making the police the bad guys and criminals good guys. I dont know about you but my father is a retired cop and with the current situation with the cops getting their heads blown off, Id say is to be advised when playing this is you are a member of a police officer

^It's just a funny little videogame about running a prison bud, that is just so inappropriate to relate it at all to the horrors of the real world it just isn't funny.

Honestly, I don't think people who get into prison riots even know what this games is let alone want to play a little pixelated management indie videogames in there spare time.
