Prancing with the devil.

<span class="bold">Pony Island</span>, a devious puzzle game where you gamble your soul to escape a sinister arcade machine, is available now DRM-free on GOG.com for Windows, Mac, and Linux with a 10% launch discount and the game's soundtrack included as a bonus goodie.

The old Arcade is about to close for the night. You approach a colourful coin-op machine standing apart from the rest at the end of the hallway. "Pony Island". Hey, it's what that weird neighbour's kid was playing endlessly before the accident. You feed it a coin, press "Start" and it glitches on you. A slight push; no effect. Frustrated, you start pressing buttons, kick, yell, send the machine to hell. It backfires. Badly.

You are no longer in the Arcade, you are inside the arcade. You're trapped in the devil's digital playground and there is only one escape: to puzzle out how to fix it. But you are not alone. The souls of other unlucky gamers who fell for this cunningly attractive trap are in here too. Or maybe that's what the diabolical architect of this infernal game wants you to believe. Is the code really broken? Or is it your soul? You need to think outside the box, if you are to escape this devilish arcade box. Or just use this cheat code that we happened to have lying ar--[ERROR - UNKNOWN INPUT FORMAT]

Outwit a malfunctioning machine programmed by the devil and escape <span class="bold">Pony Island</span>, DRM-free on GOG.com. The 10% discount will last until February 18, 1:59 PM GMT.

fables22: Hey GOGers,

Upon developer’s request, we, unfortunately, had to remove Pony Island from our store. We’re sorry that this hadn’t been communicated to you before it happened - sadly, we weren’t able to do it this time around. Our BizDev team is in talks with the developer, and we’ll update you on the situation if there’s any significant changes. Thanks & apologies for the inconvenience!
The problem is that this informing when a game gets removed is way after everyone discovers it.
An update the moment it happens would be nice. ;) (though I've already mentioned this every time it happen so... *shrug*)

I think that was the right thing to do in this case.
"Hey folks, we appear to have a publishing deal where no money goes to the developer, here's your final chance to give $$ to an undeserving third party!" <- all the shades of nope.

You're right. This was mostly due to mis-communication on our part. If I'd known before the title was removed, there would've been a post about it for sure.

I dunno - I'd still prefer to be able to let the community know, regardless of the behind the scenes.

Thanks for letting us know.
Do you think you guys could make a sticky or something for these kinds of announcements? I mean, it's nice to hear about and all, but this info will doubtless be buried such that only a handful of people will know about it.

It depends. We usually go by how big a following the game in question has on GOG and thus how many people the information is relevant for. In this case, a sticky is probably not necessary. But if it's a bigger thing, sure.
You people are terrible at communicating things. Get your act together.

This

While that game was not exactly my type of game it sure does look like something twisted-unique which I hope gets re-listed with more wallet fun for the dev.

Isn't that kind of unfair, though? I mean, you probably have no say on this, but...even if it affects a small number (relatively) of people, that's still a number of people who've been affected and deserve to hear about it. Especially considering GOG is a company which was designed to appeal to a niche market (DRM-free) as it is anyways.

Edit: Re-reading what you said, I think you misunderstood me.
I'm not talking about a sticky for this particular game, I'm talking about a sticky for community/game announcements in general to report/repost information like this under.

Not only that . Quoting a developer :
Last time I checked they require stupid paperwork that no other online store needs.

Yup, does seem like I mis-read your post. Generally speaking, we do aim to give people a heads up, although this is normally done via a new thread or a post in the existing game thread. In the future - and learning from the Broken Sword experience last week - with things that cause a change in people's libraries, we will try and send out email notifications to existing owners. For me, that is the only 100% fair way of doing it - because not all our users read the forum. A huge chunk of our userbase get their news from social media, for example.

Oh, I wasn't aware you guys did emails for these sorts of things. Yes, that does make more sense.
Do you think it's possible to send an email to people who had it on their wishlist, maybe...?
I mean, I get that it's a minor thing that doesn't really affect many people, if any at all, but it'd still be kinda nice to have some sort of forewarning for folks who want to buy it before it's gone.

Edit: Just remembered that you said it was sudden/didn't give you guys enough time for a warning/was under some special circumstance or other. Derp.

Yep, I was just gonna say that again. Often, we don't get enough of a heads up to warn people. There's also a few other issues connected to it too that I can't really go into much detail about.

Fables! No!
You haven't been working there for even a month yet and ALREADY they put you into the "spy" division?!
Curses! Don't you know what happens to people who learn about the company secrets, man?!
