President evil.

Political Animals, a lighthearted election simulator where the alarmingly anthropomorphic candidates fight tooth and nail for the chair, is now available for Windows and Mac, DRM-free on GOG.com, with GOG Galaxy support for achievements and a 10% launch discount.

It's election time! The candidates are gearing up for the big night: rounding up their herd of supporters, baring their teeth at their opponents, hissing insults at anyone asking unpleasant questions, and generally adhering by the rules of the jungle. In the game, though, things are slightly more civilized. And colorful.
As an ambitious but somewhat cute Political Animal you will take turns with the other animal candidate, managing your campaigns and moving around your agents. Do you want to be seen donating money to charity? Are you looking to dig up some dirt on your mangy opponent? Perhaps you want to hire a bunch of agitators to ruffle some feathers? Your people -or beasts, as the case may be- can arrange all that and more. Buy, bully, or win the necessary votes and secure yourself a prosperous political career as a charming do-gooder, a corrupt opportunist, or just an ultra-adaptive political animal.

Claw your way to the top as you run for president against the other Political Animals, DRM-free on GOG.com.
The 10% discount will last until November 9, 4:59 PM UTC.

catpower1980: LOL, it's the perfect game for me! Instabought! :o

BTW, GOG staff (or other geeks) ==>>>
what's up with the number version? It's listed as 0055 NS, thus while I suppose 55 stands for the update number, I'm curious about what the "NS" stands for.
That's the version number shown in-game and I suppose it stands for 'Non-Steam' :p

Thiev: I suppose it stands for 'Non-Steam' :p
Yup, that makes sense, thanks ;)
But what kind of email servers do Piggy and Croccy run?

Thiev: (...) 'Non-Steam'
These two words have a certain.. "ring" in my ears. A pleasant ring! :)

It's just like the American presidential election...just less cartoony, more sane and with likeable protagonists.
I'd love to hear some thoughts on this one. I'm on the fence since I can't really find any decent reviews online.

So if anyone desires to share a blurb or two either for or against, I'd appreciate it.

I love turn-based strategy and the theme sounds interesting (so long as it's not TOO topical, last thing I need in life is more "real" politics).
Achievements? Blurgh! :P
Thanks but no thanks! I don't need such things in order to enjoy a good game. ;)
I'm going to echo IAmSinistar's sentiment here and say that at this time, I would much rather have a game where I can mercilessly torture and murder politicians with a chainsaw. Kinda like Viscera Cleanup Detail, but with a chainsaw.

Actually playing a politician is something that I'd rather not do. I'd feel like I'm stepping in Hitler's shoes, because it seems to me right now that being a politician is a first-class ticket to becoming a lying, tyrannical shitsack.

Is this game meant specifically for Americans?
Nope again...looks cute mind you.

IAmSinistar: Looks really cute and could be a lot of fun. But as an American I really don't associate fun with elections right now. Dread, yes.
As a Russian, I'm excited to get acquainted with this whimsically fantastic and imaginative concept of "elections". Instabought!

op2play: Is this game meant specifically for Americans?
No, it has several different maps to play on. China, Japan, UK, US, Mexico, Phillipines and Germany I think.

The proximity of the words "elections" and "instabought" in your post show you are well on the way to understanding how they work.

Bigs: So are we going to get The Political Machine 2016 before the election?
Stardock missed an opportunity there... :P
I actually own that in a box.

It's actually why I won't be purchasing this game. >_<
