A fresh take on top-down shooters that emphasizes tactics and making split-second decisions. Police Stories game is now available DRM-free on GOG.COM with a 20% discount until 24th April, 1 PM UTC.

The title tells a story of two police operatives - John Rimes and Rick Jones - tasked with infiltrating gang hideouts, rescuing hostages, making arrests and getting through other life-threatening situations.
It's not about amounts of hours, but of quality. I played 200+ hours games of which I enjoyed no second, I played some that lasted an hour but were totally worth the price.

"Time" is meaningless, enjoyment is not. Also, playing it and refunding it like that thread suggests is a dirty move for unapologetically scummy people.

How do you not enjoy 200+ hours of something.
Why continue for that long.

Rephrase: I played games that could have gone on for 200 hours but I didn't enjoy a second out of them (implied: I quit, I didn't need all those hours to realize I didn't enjoy it).

Hello,
I would like to know if there are non-lethal means to finish the missions like in SWAT 4, or does it boils down to shoot and kill everyone as in Door Kickers or the Rainbow Six series?

And what about the equipement, how are those being made available - from the get go as in SWAT 3 & 4 and Rainbow Six, or through grinding like in Door Kickers?

Thanks!

Kind regards,

You can finish level without killing anyone, though it would be quite hard. Some bad guys won't surrender no matter what and will shoot you on sight, so the key is to use smoke/tear gas and then disarm them. You can use taser gun, pepper spray, your gun stock and breach doors, so there are more non-lethal ways to arrest suspects.

Equipment is being unlocked as you're completing levels, so not all of the equipment is available from the start. At first your characters can choose up to 3 of them for each mission, but as you progress the carry limit increases to 5 items.

I'm liking this game, the only negative thing I can say is that I wish it supported LAN. Local Co-Op camera is a pain, locked on player 1, so if the other players moves a bit too far he'll likely get killed by an off-screen shooter.

Hello, zeffyr!

Thank you for your detailed response.
All those comments and the few reviews available here on its game page made me a little bit worried. I tried only the old alpha demo build...
It seems to me, that Police Stories is closer to SWAT4 than to Door Kickers afterall!
I will keep an I out on it and maybe grab it later.

Thanks again!

It's more Hotline Miami than SWAT 4... You can always watch some gameplay on YouTube or Twitch before deciding whether it's your cup of tea or not.

I'm happy, that more coop games added to GOG store, like to play with friends :)

Good to see that gamers like COOP games as much as games without coop, or even more! ♪\(*^▽^*)/\(*^▽^*)/
