Even Eternity must come to an end.

Pillars of Eternity: The White March Part II, the final chapter to the opening of the Pillars of Eternity saga that enthralled both RPG veterans and newcomers, is available now, DRM-free on GOG.com for Windows, Mac, and Linux. To celebrate the epic conclusion, Pillars of Eternity is discounted by 50% until February 19.

The second part of the expansion pack to the acclaimed RPG brings players back to the perilous, enchanting lands of Eora. The Watcher's dreams are invaded by visions of a terrible, bio-metallic army that marches unopposed on the Eastern Reach, wreaking havoc in its path. Speculations on The Eyeless' origins abound but no one knows for sure whence they came or why they seem so hell-bent on destroying everything in their path. What is not up for speculation is their menacing, statuesque appearance, befitting of the work of a god.

Pillars of Eternity: The White March - Part II provides closure to story threads left unresolved at the end of Part I and also brings a new barbarian companion named Meneha to the party. Thanks to a new mode called "Story Time" players will have the chance to experience the game's story at a faster pace, plus the new Update 3.0, going live alongside The White March - Part II, includes a streamlined combat UI, updates to the Stronghold, and a number of other improvements and in-game features.

Gather your party and your remaining strength before you venture into Pillars of Eternity: The White March Part II, DRM-free on GOG.com. The 50% discount on all editions of Pillars of Eternity will last until February 19, 3:59 PM GMT.

Trilarion: "the final chapter to the opening" Hmm, I just wonder how complete Pillars of Eternity is now. I could easily wait longer with the buying if there is more to come. Do anyone know if there has been an announcement of how much more to come?
The opening is referring to Part 1, I'm sure. The wording may have been misleading.

I don't think that is what's meant. This DLC is the last one for this game but a sequel is planned, hence the final chapter to the opening of the saga.

Yes.
I don't know if I would characterize the situation as "our fault", but if enough people would have politely informed Paradox that they would like the ability to purchase an upgrade to PoE on GOG 6 to 9 months ago it would have shown that there was interest and significant market for it and might have prompted Paradox to complete an agreement to offer the upgrade. Imagine what actually might come to pass if people would more promptly directly contact the developers and publishers with their concerns instead of just complaining on the GOG forums. Bitching at GOG on their forums doesn't change the fact that GOG cannot unilaterally offer things for which they do not have a written agreement with the publishers.

VanishedOne: I see Ganni(19)87 made a thread on the Obsidian forum. Apparently the lack of upgrade paths is our fault:

http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/84255-missing-dlc-upgrade-paths-on-gogcom/?p=1775681

(Maybe they weren't told GOG had said this was being worked on?)

http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/84255-missing-dlc-upgrade-paths-on-gogcom/#entry1775681]
I will bring this issue up to Paradox to see if this is something they want to pursue.

There were no bad intentions in not selling the upgrade paths to GOG users, it was just that not many people have requested it. Since there is inherent overhead in creating DLC (in terms of initial setup and maintenance) there usually needs to be enough people requesting it before it makes sense for us to do it.

I will let you know what the answer is in the next day or two.

Looking forward to trying the expansions out. Loved the main p.o.e. game.
Why does Pillars not show up as owned on the page store? I bought the royal edition when it came out.
I bought today the season pass, in the installer is it only one dlc to install or two? I have two listed, one with 2GB and the other with 3GB. Do I have to install both?
I haven't yet installed the game as I usually wait for the games to be complete before starting them, so I usually wait for all the dlc before starting a game.

Thanks for all the help.

Yes, you have to install both.

As Ganni1987 quotes here, GOG said ages ago that they were working on it and those interested should 'stay tuned for future updates', so of course people didn't think they needed to register interest with Paradox, instead enquiring on the GOG forum why they've heard nothing more.

Yes, this is true. But after 3 or so months without the upgrades appearing here nor any news as to the status of the upgrades, it didn't occur to anyone that desired the upgrades to directly contact Paradox concerning the said upgrades? Which do you thing has a better chance of impressing upon Paradox the interest of the upgrades being offered on GOG, bitching about it here on GOG's forums or politely contacting Paradox inquiring about the availability of the upgrades on GOG?

So Pillars of Eternity is complete now but Pillars of Eternity 2 is coming at some point?

So I just have to wait for a good sale of Pillars of Eternity and all it's DLC and I get a nice, round experience with the perspective of more to come - only there may be cliffhangers and other loose ends in the story leaving place for a planned sequel.

ValamirCleaver:
Really solid posts.

The speed with which a dev replied on the Obsidian forum probably also shows that this could have had some legs to it. Now however it might be a bit late :( But it was nice that the dev mentioned bringing the issue to Paradox.

I also have a feeling that in light of the fact that it is 11 months later that it might be a case of too little, too late. Hence my posts of "if enough people would have politely informed Paradox that they would like the ability to purchase an upgrade to PoE on GOG 6 to 9 months ago it would have shown that there was interest and significant market for it and might have prompted Paradox to complete an agreement to offer the upgrade" and "Imagine what actually might come to pass if people would more promptly directly contact the... publishers with their concerns instead of just complaining on the GOG forums".

Some of us have tried to do that with https://www.gog.com/forum/general/list_of_drmfree_minirevolutions, but not many people have participated.

It really comes down to if a publisher wants to bother with GOG or not, considering GOG has grown a lot as the years have gone by but is still minuscule compared to Steam.

Me, I'll do more viewing from afar.
