Even Eternity must come to an end.

<span class="bold">Pillars of Eternity: The White March Part II</span>, the final chapter to the opening of the Pillars of Eternity saga that enthralled both RPG veterans and newcomers, is available now, DRM-free on GOG.com for Windows, Mac, and Linux. To celebrate the epic conclusion, Pillars of Eternity is discounted by 50% until February 19.

The second part of the expansion pack to the acclaimed RPG brings players back to the perilous, enchanting lands of Eora. The Watcher's dreams are invaded by visions of a terrible, bio-metallic army that marches unopposed on the Eastern Reach, wreaking havoc in its path. Speculations on The Eyeless' origins abound but no one knows for sure whence they came or why they seem so hell-bent on destroying everything in their path. What is not up for speculation is their menacing, statuesque appearance, befitting of the work of a god.

Pillars of Eternity: The White March - Part II provides closure to story threads left unresolved at the end of Part I and also brings a new barbarian companion named Meneha to the party. Thanks to a new mode called "Story Time" players will have the chance to experience the game's story at a faster pace, plus the new Update 3.0, going live alongside The White March - Part II, includes a streamlined combat UI, updates to the Stronghold, and a number of other improvements and in-game features.

Gather your party and your remaining strength before you venture into <span class="bold">Pillars of Eternity: The White March Part II</span>, DRM-free on GOG.com. The 50% discount on all editions of <span class="bold">Pillars of Eternity</span> will last until February 19, 3:59 PM GMT.

Ganni1987: And yet GOG still doesn't provide a DLC upgrade path for non-Royal Edition owners. Good release but I ain't buying until GOG starts showing more than just empty words.

I'll quote GOG again, from their post of 26th March 2015:

If you bought the Hero Edition or Champion Edition, and you like the goodies included in the larger editions, all hope is not lost. We're currently working on making edition upgrades available for Pillars of Eternity . Stay tuned for future updates!

Ganni1987: If you don't care about your customers, then I have no reason of supporting you any further.
I'm a little displeased myself that the upgrades are still not available. Steam has them. I'm used to GOG being slower but is is too much.

And they're on sale right now.

Smannesman: And they're on sale right now.
Those are not upgrades but ripoffs to whoever already owns the game, the only way to "upgrade" is to buy the game again and I ain't putting up with that.

FYI:

The REAL Royal Upgrade Pack on Steam Costs 41e (regardless if you own the Hero or Champion edition) and with the on going Expansion Launch discount it is being sold for 20.50e, here check it out for yourself: http://store.steampowered.com/app/344551/

So technically on GOG to upgrade to the Royal Edition you have to pay 20e more. That's a rip off in broad daylight if you ask me.

This is the answer I want from GOG, why are we being treated like this? Honestly I'm very disappointed at how this service has turned.

EDIT: And for anyone wondering, it's not about the damn money for me, but principle. Being aware that I'm also about to buy the game a second time instead of just the content is something I won't tolerate.

A very similar story happened with the expansion pricing of the MMO Guild Wars 2, I ended up quitting because I refuse to be ripped off by a company trying to twist their words and justify their actions.

ShadowWulfe: Nice. Now that PoE is technically complete will finally try it out. About how long before this new add on is adequately patched? Or by the time I get to it will they have patched it by then?

Also, any tips for beginners?

Chacranajxy: Judging from the base game, you're probably fine to dive in right now. It was shockingly polished from the start, especially in light of the developer.
No, it wasn't. It was buggy and unrefined.

It might be a good game now after extensive patching and feature development.

@ShadowWulfe: I'd recommend waiting for a few more patches before starting a new game. No telling how much of the new stuff is broken or unfinished.

(No, I'm not a hater. Just honest. I backed PoE at an expensive level and very much wanted it to be great.)
To GOG guys,

The library does not show the game as updated, but it clearly is... may be just timing issue, maybe more serious problem.
Will the expansion pass be replaced with a "The White March" X-pack; kind of like a singular expansion pack; in the future?

haydenaurion: So is the expansion getting a discount or not? Seems odd to put it in the promo list if it's not.
Judging by its lack of any discount on Steam, I'd guess not.

And yes, it is odd for GOG that a product with no discount is featured in a promo, but maybe GOG is taking a leaf from Steam's promo pages, where discounted products might be featured alongside non-discounted products, possibly in an attempt to make those who are unaware of those products, aware.

Wishbone: I think it's quite impressive that after eight years (well, seven and a bit, to be fair) you still haven't managed to fix the few lines of code translating the HTML from a newspost into proper forum code. It's been pointed out to you about a million times over the years, and each and every newspost still throws up during the transition to forum post. Well done, GOG :-)
You have to wonder if the editor actually edits?.Or is there even someone who proofs it before throwing it up?

Crap, guess i'll wait for a sale as i'm sure Obsidian will have to bug fix the new content anyways. I've waited this long to finally play it, I can wait a little more.
I see two people have already played the game, didn't like it, and gave it 1 star.
Eight people seem to have enjoyed it, giving it 5 stars.

Damn, you guys play games fast.

ValamirCleaver: I do not believe GOG can unilatterally, legally offer the upgrades you would like without having a written agreement with Paradox to do so. This is based purely on conjecture on my part; but don't you think it possible that a retailer might not want to publicly announce something that could be interpreted as portraying a vendor in a negative light, especially if for no other reason than to a good, non-adversarial, business relationship? This is why, in regards to post complaining about things to the effect of, "why hasn't GOG done this or why hasn't GOG done that" I'll often ask if the poster has directly contacted the publisher and/or developer concerning the issue. If nothing else it will impress upon the publisher that there is a consumer demand for such thing.
avatar
Ganni1987: I get your point and it does make sense, on GOG's end however they also have to be careful what they write in their announcements.
They did say they were 'working on' providing upgrade paths, it wasn't a promise they would definitely be coming. If GOG didn't want to provide them then it's likely they would not have said anything about it. As above, it is most likely that Paradox has not provided the upgrade paths which means that GOG simply cannot offer them until such time as they are provided.

If you want to get them you'd be best off contacting Paradox.
There's a video on that update 3,0 which is free to all owners of Pillars of Eternity (with or without this expansion) here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UDzAtWt7Ssg

Apparently there's a new questline challenging the player's claim to the stronghold, and visitors show up while you sit on the throne and hear their plea.

Cool! Hopefully some day I'll be able to get the expansions and begin playing PoE!!! I wonder if that will happen before T:ToN is patched to my playability preference.

cyboff: GOG, you are trying really hard to persuade me I don't own this :D
Can you finally fix that "owned" tag for those different editions (not only for Pillars)?
I also like how it "recommends" that you buy every edition possible. At a discount, of course! I have none of them so when I go to that page it recommends to me the whole shebang for $152.44, "saving" me 39%. So I'd get three copies of the base game and two copies of the expansions.

I need to figure out how to work this into my own parts sales...

I was going to ask where to get this, as I hadn't received an Update Flag, but I noticed I DID have it in my GoG library. In the changelog, I'm pretty sure I saw something that would be activated in "3.00 Final" - any idea if this is still a beta patch? Should I wait a few days before slapping it on or am I good to go?
