Reigniting the old flame.

UPDATE: All owners of the game can go ahead and grab the Rum Runner's Pack for free. It adds six new alcohol-themed items and Mirke, a recruitable sidekick that really loves her booze.
If you don't own the Deluxe or Obsidian edition of the game, you can also now purchase the game's Sountrack separately.

Note: If you already own the first Pillars of Eternity on GOG, go to your library and look under Serial Keys. You should see a bonus code which you can use to redeem your Gaun's Pledge DLC for Pillars of Eternity II.

Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire is here, DRM-free on GOG.com.
The sequel to Obsidian's seminal RPG, which brought back all the immersion and attention to detail we remember from the genre's classics, has finally arrived. Introducing naval battle mechanics, a new vast open world, a relationship system that now affects interactions between your companions, and an epic story involving the re-emergence of an old god, it might just become the RPG you'll be replaying for all eternity!

Go for the Deluxe Edition, which includes a Digital P&P Guide, the official OST, the second Volume of the Digital Guidebook and more. You can also grab that stuff separately inside the Explorer's Pack.
Or plan for the future with the Obsidian Edition, which also grants you access to the Season Pass, that contains the first three pieces of planned DLC.

For all those experiencing download problems (greyed out buttons) please try account refresh first:

https://www.gog.com/account/refresh

EDIT: single account refresh will work, please avoid refreshing the account multiple times. There is a slight lag due to the sheer amount of requests, but we are working on speeding things up.

Thank you for your patience.

EDIT2: If after refresh and you are using Galaxy Client and on your shelf you have any other version than "Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire", try buying free DLC for POE2 through the Client. That should force client cache refresh.
(DLC should be visible on Overview page [::PIC::])

previous BETA players
please switch from Public Beta to default branch to get the full version

Enebias: Story mode. Bah. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad there is an option in several games and that said option does not compromise gameplay for those who want to play it the "normal" way, still... sometimes I wonder if that is worth it.
If I simply want to enjoy narrative, videogames would not be my media of choice. Plenty of better alternatives with books or movies, without tedious wandering around, repetition and encounters that just get in the way.
I mean, I play videogames for their "games" part, it would't make sense for me otherwise. Notice that I said "me", I don't mean to start a fire with what I wrote. I simply don't get the point, and afaik usually stories (even the good ones) in games span from mediocre to bad, minus very rare notable exceptions like Planescape or Witcher.

As I always say, a good narrative can improve a good game, but bad gameplay makes for a bad game regardless of the writing quality.
I think for example about Final Fantasy Tactics. Bold anticlerical and anticonformist plot, but with an atrociously tedious gameplay that made me want to quit right away. I suffered trough it all just to form a solid opinion to give to a friend of mine who idolizes the game, despite the good plot in any other case I would have abandoned it after a few hours.
I've played games with supposedly good gameplay but little or no narrative element that I would never play again. Narrative is a vital part of what a game is to me. I particularly crave games where I have an input into the story hence my interest here.

I have to admit I really don't understand why folks make these points its like arguing over what makes the best pizza. Folks have different tastes, that you don't understand how someone can like mushrooms, well are you expecting them to tell you the secret way to eat them that makes them taste like candy?

With regards to Story mode itself just be glad this is not a Ubisoft or the like game otherwise we'd be buying timed story time DLC: With this dlc you get 30 minutes of immortality (enemy health is boosted 10x for the duration).
Sigh. Put some effort into reading, please. I am not demanding people to conform to my point of view, and I'm not trying to argue, as it is pointless and stupid on such a subject.
I have just stated my preferences as you stated yours and I admitted I do not understand people who play for the story, adding my motives to say that.
You are all way too edgy and flammable.
When I don't understand something, I ask others to explain their points to me. I won't change idea, but I'll be able to comprehend why other people prefer other things. No harm done or taken.
I know that on the internet is easy to find terrible people, but let's not assume all those who post have malicious intent, shall we?
I've used easy modes when a game was annoying to play and I just wanted to finish the story. I never start on easy but I've switched to it for sure, here and there.

I'd say the same about reading, I'm questioning you bring it up at all, why post what you did? Either you accept its a subjective matter of taste or you don't. I'm not going to convince you that narrative is vital when thats not your experience. I'm not going to convince you that fish sauce is amazing and is needed in every dish. I'm not going to convince you that the only colour you should wear is red. And you do essentially say "go read a book" at one point which should hint to you that any merit to the conversation you start is going to be limited.

I'll limit myself to facepalm.
You have eveidently not understood what I meant.
I am not here to state that my point of view is superior to any other or to convince people of my convictions; for me gameplay will always be more important than plot, period, but I am not talking like this is something objective that everyone should follow, as I have stated several times in just two posts.
What I wanted to know is what the reasons of people who disagree (like you, for example) are, as for now I cannot understand them. I am interested in this precisely because the matter is subjective, as I have already admitted.
Still, rather than having a civil discussion people assume everything is a personal attack and start fires well before replying.
This forum isn't good for anything anymore, you just get attacked regardless of what you write. A nice villa transformed into a toxic landfill, I wonder why I am still here wasting time.
Chill out a bit, it's not that I'm out there to kill you or anything.

I'm not angry. Just to get that out of the way. I wasn't attacking you I was questioning the point of your question.

Bah just ignore me.

1.0.2 installer is broken again, just 7GB instead of 20GB.

It beggars belief.

Should put out an actual patch too, instead of this download the whole game for 10 MB of changes bullcrap. I'll just stick with the release version for now. Not like I have a choice either.

There has been an issue in our uploading process. We are re-uploading the game build right now. We're sorry for any inconvenience caused.

EDIT:

We are also uploading a small patch, so there's no need to re-download the entire game if you have the release version already installed.

Thank you. I was now able to download the patch and update the game. The new version number shows up in the game, and I could load the last savegame, so everything looks to be working.

Almost every time a game's Windows installer is updated, the DLC also gets a version bump (not just for PoE), most of the time it's just a repack, no actual files are updated by the devs. In the case of this game, only the "Critical Role Pack" was truly updated.

I'm guessing the reason of the repacks is most likely the way Windows installers are built vs Linux ones.

In this case some changes have apparently gone into the DLC, as per the patch changes reported on Obsidian's forum, so the DLC file itself has probably been updated to reflect this as well.
