Reigniting the old flame.

UPDATE: All owners of the game can go ahead and grab the Rum Runner's Pack for free. It adds six new alcohol-themed items and Mirke, a recruitable sidekick that really loves her booze.
If you don't own the Deluxe or Obsidian edition of the game, you can also now purchase the game's Sountrack separately.

Note: If you already own the first Pillars of Eternity on GOG, go to your library and look under Serial Keys. You should see a bonus code which you can use to redeem your Gaun's Pledge DLC for Pillars of Eternity II.

Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire is here, DRM-free on GOG.com.
The sequel to Obsidian's seminal RPG, which brought back all the immersion and attention to detail we remember from the genre's classics, has finally arrived. Introducing naval battle mechanics, a new vast open world, a relationship system that now affects interactions between your companions, and an epic story involving the re-emergence of an old god, it might just become the RPG you'll be replaying for all eternity!

Go for the Deluxe Edition, which includes a Digital P&P Guide, the official OST, the second Volume of the Digital Guidebook and more. You can also grab that stuff separately inside the Explorer's Pack.
Or plan for the future with the Obsidian Edition, which also grants you access to the Season Pass, that contains the first three pieces of planned DLC.

For all those experiencing download problems (greyed out buttons) please try account refresh first:

https://www.gog.com/account/refresh

EDIT: single account refresh will work, please avoid refreshing the account multiple times. There is a slight lag due to the sheer amount of requests, but we are working on speeding things up.

Thank you for your patience.

EDIT2: If after refresh and you are using Galaxy Client and on your shelf you have any other version than "Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire", try buying free DLC for POE2 through the Client. That should force client cache refresh.
(DLC should be visible on Overview page [::PIC::])

previous BETA players
please switch from Public Beta to default branch to get the full version

apehater: btw whats the backer exclusive dlc?
Mātakau (battle axe), Pet Wurm, Cloak of the Obsidian Order
avatar
Niggles: what does that mean?.

GR00T: There's a difficulty mode called 'Story Mode' where your characters basically can't lose a fight and will steamroll anything you have to enter into combat with. This makes it so you don't have to worry about all the aspects of tactical combat and can just focus on the characters and story.
Isn't the main campaign pretty much that (building your chars from scratch) ?. or am i missing something? (comment relating to open world??)

main campaign is about story. so the story mode allows you to experience it without worrying about whether that sword is good for you, whether to put points in fighting or what to do when fighting actually occurs.
Story mode; well, that's one more for the wish-list, then <3
I am debating if I should get this on GOG or on that other platform. My main point of consideration right now are updates. I know from previous experience that GOG tends to receive them last. My question for people who have first POE game here, how was the update situation when it first released on GOG?

I don't recall how close they were to the Steam updates, but Obsidian was good about supporting the game here, so they at least gave GOG the same updates as Steam.

the steam release is drm dree, so just get it there and avoid all the pain-in-the-ass problems that come along with the gog version.

For me the game worked out of the box (on linux), downloaded here on the day of release. Rarely do I see a game so bugfree on day 0, so wow.
apehater : Betrayed by GOG! GOG sukz! Pirate GOG games!

LoL.
Just saw this.

That serial key is for a copy of Defender's Quest in my case (Fig backer version of POE2)?

Btw, any news on the Scavenger Hunt items?

Haystock: (…)
You should open a ticket with GOG support about this, as this is obviously a bug.

If you play it smart enough, you might end up with both Gaun’s Pledge DLC and Defender’s Quest ;)

How many mode options are there?

Might just wishlist it for now and play the first game first (is there much i miss if i go through second game first?..any continuality between the games?)
Finally..but does it run stable and without greater bugs or is bugged like the first one?

5 modes:
Story, Relaxed, Classic, Veteran, Path of the Damned

It continues on from the first game - you don't need to have played it (you can set your world state) but it helps from a story and character POV.
Story mode. Bah. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad there is an option in several games and that said option does not compromise gameplay for those who want to play it the "normal" way, still... sometimes I wonder if that is worth it.
If I simply want to enjoy narrative, videogames would not be my media of choice. Plenty of better alternatives with books or movies, without tedious wandering around, repetition and encounters that just get in the way.
I mean, I play videogames for their "games" part, it would't make sense for me otherwise. Notice that I said "me", I don't mean to start a fire with what I wrote. I simply don't get the point, and afaik usually stories (even the good ones) in games span from mediocre to bad, minus very rare notable exceptions like Planescape or Witcher.

As I always say, a good narrative can improve a good game, but bad gameplay makes for a bad game regardless of the writing quality.
I think for example about Final Fantasy Tactics. Bold anticlerical and anticonformist plot, but with an atrociously tedious gameplay that made me want to quit right away. I suffered trough it all just to form a solid opinion to give to a friend of mine who idolizes the game, despite the good plot in any other case I would have abandoned it after a few hours.
