So they don't want to sell it here lest we run into technical issues they can't fix? Might as well stop selling it on Steam too if its so out of order.

Silver Dollar Games [developer]

There are no plans for a bundle at the moment. The way I see it, OFDP2 makes OFDP1 obsolete in every possible way. And that was our goal. We wanted to refine the experience to the point where we could take two buttons mechanics no further.
I don't think I am interested in either game but is that George Lucas reasoning?
I carefully watched the trailer .... and ... WHERE exactly is the one-finger-death-punch sequence???

Gengar78: What? I just was interested in buying the first game, what does their discontinued development have to do with it? Is the implication that they rather not bother re-implement the leaderboards for GOG Galaxy?

It seems to me that the developer thinks that he will need to implement GOG Galaxy into first game, so he refuses.
Perhaps someone can tell him that for the "legacy" game this is not necessary (GOG full of not supported by developers games without Galaxy implementation). All that is required: make a DRM-free version untie the game from Steam. Damn it, even pirates can do it for free and without source code. I do not believe that the developer cannot do this, and for the money (which he will receive from sales, albeit small ones).

One Finger Death Punch runs without Steam running. The sequel required Steam to be running.

Especially in that case!

Can personally confirm that this has not been the case ever since the game's Steam launch.

Should be simple enough. Such a DRM-free build was sold on Desura. He could just sell that exact same build here. To my knowledge, it was outdated and missing online features (leaderboards in particular - achievments were there, but not visible on any profile), but if someone minds that, they're free not to buy it or wait for a discount. In the case of OFDP1, I think the game is so damn good that it warrants we get at least a legacy build.
Just played this for some hours, and I must admit too, that this doesn't substitute the first game...

The core idea is the same, but seems like a different game to me... too many things have different mechanics, and, while this could be more spectacular in some way, it lacks the clean visuals of the first one...
Loved the first one. How does the second one compare? (and why isnt the the first on GOG?)

I don't know what you're doing but it doesn't run for me without Steam.

I have both on Steam. Personally, I prefer the first one simply because it was less flashy.

I played 2 when it was first released and the timing seemed off. Even after a few updates, I never felt like I could get my timing down. You're not shooting for platinum medals in this one so, in a sense, it's more forgiving. You can miss 4 or 5 times in a round and still get 5 stars. Another difference is that you aren't restricted to just 3 skills nor do you have to find them. You collect skill points from certain rounds and may place them in any skill you choose: multiple bullets for guns (yep, guns), insta-kill bosses (which there are now multiples of in a round) and many, many more. The non-weapon upgrade skills are the ones I like least because they tend to throw off my timing when they go off.

It's a bit more pleasing graphically and you can even customize your stick fighter to an extent. The map is more detailed and still features branching paths. The soundtrack is not very memorable (it's been a while since I last played it), but it's a bit of an improvement over the first.

Myself, I'd take the first one over this one, but it's still OFDP at the end of the day and there are few substitutes for it.

Create a steam_appid.txt file in the game's main folder. Type 980300 in it and Steam will not bother you.
