Lemon_Curry: And why have they chosen to make the almanac available as a free DLC rather than simply including it as a goody to the main game? It baffles the mind...
Because marketing happened! After all, "Free DLC" sounds nice, isn't it? ;)
Well, well, it's finally here. And into the cart it goes.

Matruchus: Well waited for this for a longtime but with Ai War 2 kickstarter and Cossacks 3 + Escalation this will have to wait for a few months. Still what's up with all the dlc.
Yeah, I really hate it when they split up a game like this. Why can't they just sell all of the parts together as one game?
Wow, holy DLC Batman! I guess that's one way to deal with the digital sales model's tendency to push heavy discounting...bet this game spends very little time at list price. It does sound interesting so I'll probably pick it up later this week.
Give the base game a go, not sure about the dlc.
DLC is maps, a map editor w/ maps, and a new planet (Ceres), new recourses, and new mechanic. One can imagine a planet like Pluto being added as a DLC in the future

Are you joking? "They've changed it."

Wow, so many DLCs. I think this goes on the wishlist for now because I don't like to buy games which are still getting new DLCs.

Been waiting a while for this one...

Long enough to have lost some enthusiasm for it.

Still... That's a nice discount... Guess I'm going to Mars after all. ;)

It was an example. I consider it a planet still. It could in theory be added as a DLC.

Game looks interesting; and the 'BUY SERIES $̶6̶9̶.̶9̶4̶ $ $31.66' price isn't too bad - BUT...

I don't want a game with DLC's still being released. While I don't know that's the case with this game (maybe the current DLC's are ALL the DLC's) - it's BECAUSE I don't know that I'll just wishlist this for now - and revisit it in maybe a year or so..

I went through this only one year ago with Stardock and Galactic Civilizations III - the ad said "ALL DLC's" (ref attached), but newer ones have been subsequently released (so now I know "ALL" meant "relased through this date").

All that means - I can't "trust" Stardock (as far as DLC's go) and, even though it doesn't mean I "blacklist" the game - it DOES mean I stick it on the wishlist and just wait, wait, wait...

SO, maybe for next years Black Friday sale; maybe then I'll buy it...

Well, it is exactly as much of a planet as Ceres. Both currently dwarf planets, both initially considered (full) planets when they were discovered, both downgraded after other bodies were discovered in the area. Difference being that for Ceres it happened back in the 19th century and it was downgraded straight to asteroid before being upgraded to dwarf planet when that classification was introduced at first for Pluto.
So from that point of view, it'd make all the sense for them to add a Pluto DLC. The distance makes it not make so much sense though. Maybe a Venus one with floating locations or something first :)

More on topic, interesting concept, will need to check reviews for the execution and details, but either way all this pile of DLC approach puts it at the tail end of a sizable wishlist that would normally go after a lengthy backlog, so meh.

So what is this game like? How is it as single player?.Bots/decent AI?.

Single player is awesome. Love the supply and demand market system. You need to like business sims though, I think. It plays in real time with pauses, so do Capitalism 2 and Patrician 2, but I wouldn't call em RTS. Overall one of the better business sims out there, and there aren't many.

BoBFiSh: The style of game does seem to lend the AI a certain vicious edge, from my experience with it. So it should present a good challenge and there is a single player campaign that offers different challenges and scenarios to work around.
I hope that's the case in singleplayer mode -- currently reading reviews and from what i see, generally it is considered a good game.
