Apparently this release is slowly devolving into a minor shitstorm. And not really deservedly IMHO.

Let me restate what I said previously. It is a brilliant, innovative, unique game that is great for what it is. Considering the known sales figures and the avarage number of concurrent multiplayer participants, it seems that 99% of people don't give a damn about multiplayer side of the game and are quite content with the offline mode alone, however strongly I'd disagree with that approach. In this light gog edition IS a full, complete release, for which I am very grateful.

The problem I can see is that multiplayer is half-assed. This game is designed around skirmishes, this is the whole point of the experience. When you divide the player base and restrict the functionality for some of it on top of that, it is almost criminal.

Don't blame Soren, don't even blame GOG. Blame Stardock for their policy of ignoring other sales platforms, and most of all blame *the* other sales platform for keeping their hands tightly clasped around their market dominance. And I don't have to point fingers who in the end is responsible for that (and no, it is not the reptilian overlords).
Well damn, I bought this game with the knowledge from youtube videos that there would be lobby multiplayer to play with a mate VS the AI or whatever you'd like...

I mean, why would you "spread the love" and be able to gift another copy if you can't easily play with each other...

Its not just multiplayer. The issue is also with the fact that real mars dlc pack does not contain any data which is either the fault of devs or gog. And yes that dlc has now been removed from the store by gog. And there is no shitstorm. Just explaining facts to gog.com who obviously didn't test this game version pre-release. That is all. And as said before its a grand game in singleplayer. Just a broken release at the moment. Happens occasionally.

Well, you can always compare your high scores and best times with your friend on a particular map seed, you know...

(I know, 80's jokes are really lame)

HypersomniacLive: The spot the note is placed is not prominently enough, especially since the main description still reads [emphasis added]: I guess it matters little that you won't play against them...

Not to mention that he blurb of the release thread still advertises the non-existing feature [emphasis added]: *shakes head*
The note is a joke right now, you are absolutely right. I think only people who know the problem anyway might notice it. New customers? Not so much, it's just too far down and too tiny.
*sighs* I'll just write my story in a form of a mathematical question:

1 Steam purchase - 1 Steam refund = 1 gog purchase
1 bad gog release = 1 gog refund

copies of Offworld Trading Company = ?
Update:

- Real Mars DLC has been fixed via hotfix and now works perfectly with the gog version.
- Ranked multiplayer currently seems to be back online.

Signal loss ....

Going offline ....

Line dead ...

Corporation cutt off from Mars region ....

Sending Ripley ...

omega64: Just keep playing Ranked until you meet them.
Totally works. ;P
I don't have the game, nor care about multiplayer in general, but misleading and false advertisement does bother me, and as far as I know, is definitely against EU regulations, and by extension European laws.

Hey everyone!

The DLC issue should now be sorted & so should be the multiplayer issue. The only feature the GOG version of the game is missing now are the lobbies, but we're looking into this and hope to have it fixed soon as well.

Any issues, just let me know in this thread or PM me.

Thanks!

Hm, just a question what are Blues scenarios that are greyed out in the game menu?

Hello and thanks for the update.

Sadly, the is the opposite of what a member of your support team just answered to a pending ticket

What should we believe ?
Is this game sold with a huge emphasis on "play with your friends / coop / free copy" will actually make it available, or should we just refund ?

Thanks

In my experience support only knows what the current state of the game is. They don't know what plans the dev has for the game.

But I know what devs have planned for thas.
They have planned to release 10 more micro DLC which will contain things that should be a free update.
When it's Stardock, You don't hope for DLC but you know that DLCs are on the way.
Has anyone else had issues with the Campaign not saving your history when you complete a game? Each faction gets reset to 0/3 after I close the game. Highest Victory also always shows "Never" when it should show my last result.

It does properly save your progress as you're playing the campaign game, it's just the history gets wiped or isn't loaded properly after you complete it and quit, which is getting on my nerves.
