Wurzelkraft: I don't care much about multiplayer but not putting this in BIG BOLD letters on the product page is simply false advertising. Both GOG and the publisher are at fault, mainly GOG for letting this pass without telling the customers. Reminds me of Clustertruck when they simply removed a lot of features from the game page after release, also without telling anyone. Horrible, ugh. :(
The biggest problem is that gog is falsely advertising the whole multiplayerside of the game:

In reality you can not play with your friends in the gog version but you certainly can play in the Steam version since it includes the whole content of the game which gogs lite version of the game doesn't. Eitherway, bought the game cause of multiplayer and then this.
avatar
Matruchus: Ok the devs let me know that the gog version does not have and won't have the whole multiplayer side implemented. Its another so called special drm-free edition game like Armello.

So if you wan't to play multiplayer with friends avoid this game.

The dev will update the gamepage with new information soon.
Seriously? April Fools (early, or late - depending how you look at it), right?

I don't care at all about multiplayer; but I do care ALOT (to borrow the intarwebs mis-use of that term) about misleading advertising.

For one thing, I thought GOG tested these games. No? How did this get past testing?

And the devs just happened to overlook this minor issue?

I mean - besides the entire prominent paragraph being false:

Experience New Adventure in Multiplayer
Turn your friends into frenemies! With a robust and exciting multiplayer mode that can support up to eight players, no two games of Offworld Trading Company are the same! The market fluctuates depending on which of the four starting corporations you and your opponents choose and what resources you accumulate. Strategy is key, and tenuous alliances between rivals are easily broken when the opportunity arises.
There is also the free game code:

About: Buy Offworld Trading Company before 14:59 CET, 01 December 2016, and receive a free copy of Offworld Trading Company to share with a friend! A redeem code will be added to your account between 01 - 02 December 2016.
Now ofc there may be single-play players that appreciate the "gift" code - but seriously - the MAIN REASON for it is so that you can have easy multiplayer with a friend. So this news just nullifies that as well - besides the false "Experience New Adventure in Multiplayer" paragraph.

So, before I accuse GOG of slipping and falling into "misleading their customers" territory - fess up - you're just trolling, right?

Saddly no. I don't know how gog and the devs will sort this out but its their problem. Yes there is ranked multiplayer 1v1 and 4v4 FF but you get automatically added to that game. There is no custom lobbies as on Steam which enables you to play with other players.

Matruchus: I just bought it and there is definitely no option to choose any of those 30 maps. Plus the whole multiplayer side of the game is missing on gog. Just ranked multiplayer is there. It seems to be a broken version of the game.

Checked the game files and there are only 5 maps to be chosen from. It seems the real mars map pack dlc is missing. The same as the whole multiplayer side. Only ranked match is there but no custom, etc.

Razikale: Hi, you can access the Real Mars Map Pack DLC by selecting skirmish, then clicking custom game rules and toggling the "Use Real Maps" option. It will add the maps from the DLC to your game.
Ok, I did following things. Checked the game folders and the map content (DLC_2) is missing after install through galaxy or via direct download. And yes the box next to use real maps is checked.

Then I tested it by copying dlc_2 map pack from Steam to gog version and then more maps showed there. So it seems that map pack doesn't get installed through galaxy or via offline installers. Please check that out. Sent you two support requests already (SDQL04IH and UEEGOE9D).

Adding pictures of gog skirmish and how it looks on Steam.

What a rotten mess. And the blue replies here seem to indicate GOG is clueless over it, so they didn't even look.

And yeah, in my case what interest may have been there was obviously just for singleplayer, zero interest in any multiplayer anywhere, but this is all deliberately misleading, from release announcement to game description to the wording of the extra code offer to the blues' replies here.

Thank you for the info, we are looking into it now.
For those who don't know yet.

Multiplayer is now clarified. There is no way to play with friends on gog. So don't buy the game cause of multiplayer. Its very good in singleplayer just mind that it does not include normal multiplayer.

Quote from the Offworld Trading Company gog.com gamepage:
"Please note: The GOG version of Offworld Trading Company does not support custom lobbies and multiplayer is ranked only. The GOG Galaxy client is required to access multiplayer. "

Thank you gog for clarifyling this.

Thanks for sharing the info, was about to get it for me and the prettier half, but if it's not possible to play custom lobbies it's kinda pointless for us. It's a shame as the game looks nice and should make nice LAN title.
Not to mention that the multiplayer is currently not working at all.

And seriously it cannot be that hard to implement lobbies via Galaxy, ffs. I mean I wasn't even expecting crossplay but not even lobbies for multiplayer between GOG players is just a joke. Have they even tried to implement it - I mean what took them so long to release it here in the first place?

And the state it arrived here is ridiculous....

Yes indeed and not to forget that Real Mars Map Pack has been removed from sales cause of "technical difficulties" aka its missing from the game entirely. Just to add that cherry on the top for those who don't know that.

The spot the note is placed is not prominently enough, especially since the main description still reads [emphasis added]:
Experience New Adventure in Multiplayer
Turn your friends into frenemies!
I guess it matters little that you won't play against them...

Not to mention that he blurb of the release thread still advertises the non-existing feature [emphasis added]:
Want to share the love? Make sure to grab the game until December 1st, 1:59 PM UTC to secure an extra copy for a friend and dive into the multiplayer together!

Yeah, that's what I meant with the state it arrived after it took months to release it here in the first place....

Just keep playing Ranked until you meet them.
Totally works. ;P

If you mean the famous ranked multiplayer. Yes it totally works with the world famous "servers currently unavailable" status since, essentially, launch day :)

Ah, well. I hope Mohawk and gog fix these issues and then the game will be complete, as complete as it can be on gog.

So we have another fucking Armello... thought they would have learned from the backlash that time... obviously not...
