Wurzelkraft: I bought the game + DLCs and am a little confused about this specific DLC. Where can I see (and select) these extra maps? The skirmish menu didn't look much different than before if at all. How can I see if the DLC actually works? Don't know much about the game yet so I might be missing something obvious.
avatar
Matruchus: I just bought it and there is definitely no option to choose any of those 30 maps. Plus the whole multiplayer side of the game is missing on gog. Just ranked multiplayer is there. It seems to be a broken version of the game.

Checked the game files and there are only 5 maps to be chosen from. It seems the real mars map pack dlc is missing. The same as the whole multiplayer side. Only ranked match is there but no custom, etc.
Hi, you can access the Real Mars Map Pack DLC by selecting skirmish, then clicking custom game rules and toggling the "Use Real Maps" option. It will add the maps from the DLC to your game.

Nope, can't pick any other maps then those five that are there by default even by clickin on real maps under custom still ony five maps there. If I click on choose prebuilt maps there is nothing there besides those five.

Unless all of the so called real mars map pack maps are just random maps

What about missing multiplayer stuff?

Edit: Adding print screen of missing stuff.

Hello,

Just a little question to be sure.

Is there anybody who already succeeded in using any of the multiplayer modes of GOG's version of the game?

Thank you.

Hi

I have the same question. Can anyone confirm that multiplayer works in gog version of this game?

It doesn't work for me. No Lobby option and ranked does not find any games.

Thanks

How picky is the game when it comes to system requirements?

Just realised the thing needs a HD 3870 minimum (have a HD 36xx atm as previous video card died a few months ago.sigh -- i exceed all other requirements) and it gets stuck at 90% when loading any skirmishes etc...

Thank you for your answer.

So, the multiplayer layer of the game seems not to be the matter..

So why the multiplayer skirmish lobby is missing?
Perhaps, a problem with the Galaxy implementation of this mode.

Is there anybody with an available multiplayer skirmish mode?

I just wanted to check this but I couldn't. Why? The game did not recognize ANY of the DLCs anymore and I might know why...I removed the goggame*.info files so that Galaxy would not touch the game (I normally don't use Galaxy since it auto-scans for games; I hate this so much) and today, just after boot up I started the game and not one DLC was recognized. Wow. :|

edit: I should add that I installed the game manually and not through Galaxy.

I was also wishy washy about this... went for it though and havent been disappointed. You can jump right in and the tutorials are pretty good. I skipped the Map Editor and OST as I had no interest and they dont seem to impact game play in anyway. Cant comment yet on the ones I have purchased as I havent seen them come into play.

Anyway, for 25 bucks after cutting the DLCs I didnt want, this has been fun. Personally I wouldnt be swayed by the "combat" "no combat" talk. It is action packed and hardly a moment to breathe. Its more about placement and striking the proper resource balance. This is not a bean counting game such as Patrician. More Carcassonne digital if you will.

That's not the option you're looking for. Clicking custom in "Game Rules" and toggling the setting adds the DLC maps to the game. Presets just determine certain dominate terrain types.

Edit: attaching a screenshot for reference.

Manually removing game files might cause such issues.

Ah, ok so this are all just a pack of maps for random map generator then. Understood now. What's up with the multiplayer though? Look at my previous post where I posted missing multiplayer options picture.

Sure, I'm just surprised to see these files actually being important for the game itself. How can I stop Galaxy from detecting the game in the future? I just want to use your client for a specific set of games and using a different HDD to install the games on obviously didn't help. ;)

IIRC (can't check it as I'm not at home):
The current default in Galaxy is that it checks for updates for all games when you start the client. Currently you can only change this per game after starting Galaxy. Once out of beta there should be an option to prevent auto update for all games by default. This option might already be visible in Galaxy, but greyed out.

Ok the devs let me know that the gog version does not have and won't have the whole multiplayer side implemented. Its another so called special drm-free edition game like Armello.

So if you wan't to play multiplayer with friends avoid this game.

The dev will update the gamepage with new information soon.

I don't care much about multiplayer but not putting this in BIG BOLD letters on the product page is simply false advertising. Both GOG and the publisher are at fault, mainly GOG for letting this pass without telling the customers. Reminds me of Clustertruck when they simply removed a lot of features from the game page after release, also without telling anyone. Horrible, ugh. :(
