Nymphomaniac - Sex Addict is a visually stunning, photorealistic game – and it’s now available in early access on GOG!

The action of the game takes place in the apartment of a nymphomaniac - Vydija. Her apartment is full of activities and mini-games. The player can explore them in any order and pace. Time passes slowly, and if we are careful, Vydija's story will never end, allowing us to play it in another time loop.

Now on GOG!

Breja: This. GOG's curation has gone from "questionable" to "joke" to now "basically an insult to everyone whose game they ever rejected". I wouldn't even mind so much if only they gave us an option to permanently hide games, devs, publishers and stopped pretending they have such a thing as "curation". Just replace that "A curated selection of games" line with an honest "anything goes".
They could even spin it; "Welcome to GOG, home to some of the most esoteric and varied games on the internet! You'll find anything! Jack Keane, Jack Keane II...Anything!"
Hello GoG Team,

For owners of Paranoid, we are supposed to receive a code to obtain the game nymphomaniac, according to Madmind Studio.

Wasn't it easier to grant the game to Paranoid owners as usual? (like Neckbreak for example)

SargonAelther: GOG's curation should be limited to:
1) Does it actually run at all?
2) Does the game have DRM?
3) Is there any illegal content in the game?

Everything else should be left for each player to decide. One man's trash is another man's treasure and all that. I always urge every game developer that was rejected 6+ years ago to reapply today.
Great, and now we at GOG are supposed to live with the fact that a number of games may no longer be provided with patches and updates?

Just as an example: I bought Trail Out and am annoyed now because they apparently don't think it's necessary to offer the update to 3.0 here. It took a while with Dome Keeper,
but a friendly request was enough and I wasn't simply ignored in several places.

It's not a significant extra effort to keep games up to date on more than one platform. So yes, I agree with the opinion that the publishers should be held accountable here.

I'm sure that this will otherwise damage GOG in the long term. Once trust on this point is ruined, well...

SargonAelther: And it is better to stop rejecting games late rather than never. I was always against GOG's snobbish curation. GOG's curation should be limited to:
1) Does it actually run at all?
2) Does the game have DRM?
3) Is there any illegal content in the game?
To add to your list:
4) Is a game censored in any way?
5) Has a remaster of an old game been altered and adapted, censored and re-cast to please or don't offend, what has become known under the collective term of modern audiences?
6) Have modern Western (US/EU-centric) political agenda been injected into games whose origin is other than the EU/US?
7) Have actual historic events featured in a game been re-written or substantially altered Oregon Trail so it is no longer based on historical sources such as accounts of people, and with the intention to relate history without an agenda in mind to gloss over uncomfortable parts - rendering them non-existent (because modern audiences could feel uncomfortable), but instead on pure fiction, made up to make history appear to be more inclusive and exclusive in other ways?
8) Is its only purpose of a game, to spread political propaganda of any sort?

I needed to hear it with my own ears to believe it! I hope the narrative or the gameplay justifies the redundancy of the title. Unfortunately, erotic games aren't my cup of tea, so I might not find out.

What does that have to do with curation? How is a GOG curator suppose to know whether the devs plan to keep the game up to date in the future or not?

Or are you suggesting that outdated games should all be removed from sale after a certain period of time?
Madmind, Whale Rock, LJN...what's the difference? Not much of any. This one free game I'm not thankful to be receiving.
Can we get store credit instead?

I would suggest a warning (red lettering) that this game has not received any updates from the developer over a three month span and to consider purchasing at the customer's own risk.

i_ni: For a (better or worse?) alternative, check LvT's https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1937390/ (2013) -- Nymphomaniac: Vol. I&II.

Must warn that Lars's films are "odd"(they'll break a little part of you), the least to say.
Might not be a good idea to recommend what some might consider extremely brutal horror torture porn over a simple sex game like this one. I'm aware of these films and where to see them online. We've even got adult games inspired by them, Japan especially loves this stuff - I can give you a few titles with scenes that would make even a cast-iron stomach like Von Trier's wretch. The only thing we sell close to that here on GOG is Gore Screaming Show. There's a scene with a drill in that which made the localizer ill. I talked to him about it years ago. You want that kinda stuff on GOG? Well, it exists, but there's no way in heck it'll be here. Trust me, I know- there are so many things I cannot unsee.

Check this thread if you didn't....
https://www.gog.com/forum/general/a_notice_to_all_owners_of_paranoid_on_gog_1/page1

After that for your second point : i would say different studio, so ... with some countries restrictions maybe it wasn't possible to do the same.

The marketing consent mentioned (must be turned on) in the other thread is just a piece of crap imho.

I think that's a good idea. But only if there are updates elsewhere or serious bugs are known.
Games that don't get updates because they are mature and relatively bug-free should of course be exempt from this.

For example:

JANITOR BLEEDS
Why is this still being offered when it has already been communicated that this game has a gamebreaking bug?
In my opinion, the quality of a library suffers unnecessarily as a result.

Nevermind - he's not worth my words.

i_ni: have a look at Lars's filmography, for something completely different (hopefully the game does the same, in its own way and setting)

SargonAelther: Is that the one with Shia LaBeouf? I might check it out, I had heard of it, but then I forgot it existed lol.
He is in it but he is not the main character.

Sorry for OT but you have no idea what Lars von Triers films are about - don't you? This is far from being horror porn ... if you think this you have absolutely no clue about movies and you definitely never saw this one.

Breja: Did he claim to speak for anyone else? No.

MarkoH01: He did by not stating this - but I am not surprised that you don't understand this.
That is complete and absolute nonsense. You also didn't state that you're "only speaking for yourself". You never do. No one does, because it is obvious. You're just salty about people leaving comments you disagree with in these porn threads and you're being a jerk about it. Simple as that.

Disclaimer: this post has been made in the name of King Charles III, Tom Hanks, and that guy who lives somewhere in your neighbourhood and no one really remembers him, but he owns that funny, shaggy dog everyone likes.

Whenever I state my opinion about a certain game I DO include the phrases "imo" or "I think" or "in my opinion" as long as I don't refer to objective things. I care when people say "this game is bad" because that's simply something that does not exist. It does not matter if it's a genre like this (which you constantly attack just because you can and because you apparently have too much free time in your hand) or any other. Fact is that there are several people out there who dislike these kind of games and there are several people out there who like these games - at least enough that GOG is still selling them. It is also fact that the judgement is only based on screenshots alone because the game just got released - which imo is a problem on its own. I can only jusdge what I have played or at least if I have seen someone play it ... this is unfair judgement and doing this for any game without having any clue what the game actually is about is just unfair. I did not play it myself yet so it might be that I dislike it but at least I don't attack a game before I even know what it's about.

In which twisted parallel universe would Lars von Trier's Nymphomaniac be considered extremely brutal horror torture porn? It has a FSK16-Rating here in Germany and similar ratings in several other European countries and it ran successfully in most arthouse cinemas.

It certainly isn't a fun family movie, but "extremely brutal horror torture porn" is on of the most ridiculous exaggerations I've ever heard.
