UPDATE: The first No Man's Sky update is now out!
It's a much-awaited bundle of fixes, as well as compatibility and performance improvements and you can grab it now via GOG Galaxy auto-updates, or with the newest offline installers.

I've not tried it and cannot attest to it's accuracy. Bypassing the check of course is likely to cause other issues but it might work for some ?

On the GoG specs before purchasing, many of us checked the specs. My card for example is a 500 series nVidia and hence above the minimum but there was no mention that our cards must support OpenGL 4.5 at the time. Some cards do not. Therefore we purchased / pre ordered with what we had and if later we find that our cards may not support OpenGL 4.5 we would get a GoG refund I would say. We need to wait a bit though. We have 30 days however to make our refund request.

All we can do is wait a bit and if we have hardware that will not run it and because at purchase it did not state openGL 4.5 at the time, I guess if there is any of us that can't run it, we should be able to get a refund.

That is of course absolute last resort. Lets see how we go in the next few weeks with Hello Games updates.

I tried to make a new thread on the main GoG forum for NMS but as usual, when I try to create a new thread it just crashes, they still haven't fixed that problem so I can't make a new thread with this post I fear so others can see it incase it helps. I therefore posted here.

Although I already found this fix, thank you for posting this and I can report that it does indeed work! Its the check for GL4.5 that prevents the game running in my case. This GL Intercept stops it doing that and allows the game to run, finally. Still very buggy tho but it works!

darkangelz: I was under the impression my pc met the min specs listed on the gamecard:

Minimum system requirements - Windows: 7 / 8 / 10 (64-bit only)
Processor: Core i3
Memory: 8GB RAM
Graphics: NVidia GTX 480, AMD Radeon 7870
Hard Drive: 10 GB
Mouse, Keyboard

But seems it fails on:

Processor - phenom x6 1055t - lack of sse 4.1/4.2 support ? i only found listed upto sse3 and sse4a
graphics: gtx 960 - only lists supports for opengl 4.4 not 4.5

Are these shortcomings something the dev can patchfix?
For the record, I'm playing the game with a GTX 760, and it runs just fine.

Happy to help. The problem is of course it is only a temporary workaround because when the game makes calls to Open GL4.5, then there will really be trouble. :(

This thread -.- I think our "classy community" finally became a "classy shithole". Time for me to leave you "doxed Hawaiian welfare niggas" and Kleeturises alone. Have fun with people who think tinyE is a mod on Steam's forums (*lol*). Don't forget to upvote giveaways where long time regulars don't even care anymore if one of NES's alts got one of their games, because all they want is to get rid of their codes on their way out of here. And enjoy the sophisticated discussions with KiNgFaGlEy when he's high on toner again.

So apparently there are three types of ship, but is there a way to identify them?
They all look like kids toys, so is it something like the X-Wings are fighters, the Bucky O'Hare ships ecplorers and the Tupperware boxes are freighters?
