UPDATE: The first No Man's Sky update is now out!
It's a much-awaited bundle of fixes, as well as compatibility and performance improvements and you can grab it now via GOG Galaxy auto-updates, or with the newest offline installers.

No Man's Sky a massive science-fiction game set in an infinite procedurally generated galaxy, is available now, DRM-free on GOG.com. Note that the game takes place in one persistent PC universe, shared across GOG and Steam.

In an intergalactic society, only the few set off towards the stars — explorers, those unafraid, those with nothing to lose. They set off never to come back as far as any of us are concerned. And thus, we still look up at an infinite sky, now within our reach, yet still untouched — a no man's land, a No Man's Sky.

No Man's Sky promises discovery of an infinite, uncharted universe. Its billions of stars, planets, unknown living creatures, breathtaking sights and lonely wastelands — all seamlessly connected — gradually getting catalogued by explorers drawn to the distant mysteries of the horizon, eager to leave a permanent mark in their wake.

The frontier is merciless and dangerous. Exposed to a universe of extremities in your fragile suit and ship, you'll need resources and upgrades to get far — as well as the means to stand your ground in a fight. Whether you journey to the center of it all or seek out the farthest reaches of existence, the trip will not be simple or dull. You'll catalogue things unseen, discover alien artifacts and reveal the greatest mysteries of the universe. If you survive.

Calibrate your suits for extreme insomnia, reach out and touch the No Man's Sky, DRM-free on GOG.com!

styggron: Thank you I'll give it a look.
What I will probably do is just wait a few weeks till there is a patch. :(

PC is well within Min spec.

How can we check which OPENGL we have in case that is the problem for crash on boot ? Checked nvidia settings all over the place. Nothing lists OPEN GL version.

I think you missed my post where I said I got the viewer and there were no problems with my open GL :)
Thank you for posting the link anyway though.

It's not biggie if I can't play it today. The devs will patch it and it will work and I will play it then. No rush. I've read more reviews though and more and more say it gets VERY "samey" by the time you do a few caves, and planets, they are all pretty much alike just different colours and some weather...... that if anything scares me more.....however, Sean Murray says there is more content coming so I'll probably jump in for an hour or 2 when it is patched so I can see it, then wait a few months for more content.

Lets see how we go.

People piling on the hate is disappointing though. Sure if it does not work for some but I have already read posts that say it is all fine and they enjoy it which is good news :)

IAmSinistar: Looking forward to the reviews here. Though it sounds like each experience can vary quite a bit, depending on where you start out. I suspect this will be another "the concept outreaches the reality" game, but open to being pleasantly surprised.
I trust your judgement so ill wait to see whether you pick it up :D

Looking at the reviews ..they range wildly but Jim Sterlings words make interesting reading " Even with my expectations guarded, however, I did not expect just another survival/crafting game that used randomization as a crutch to the point of losing all potential personality.
And I at least expected more to fucking do."

i know he isnt everyones cup of tea.. but its disturbing if this is the case.

1st off, this is as much an admission to my own stupidity, as it is calling out others on their stupidity as well. Many of the people reporting that the game crashes to a white screen at boot up just weren't smart enough to press the "E" key and hold it down until the game starts. That was me. I waited and waited, but nothing happened, because I was too confused to realize that all I had to do was press "E".

With that said, it's a cool game, cool concept, but it has too little to do. I bought it a few hours before opening day, on a whim. I am disappointed, as this game is repetitive, the graphics are not AAA, and there isn't that much variety in what you're doing. It's a cool survival game though, and the flight and space dynamics are awesome.

You'll have fun with this game, but not as much as you would with... say... DOOM.
Seems like a pretty subpar game both from a gameplay and technical perspective.

Can we go forward something else now and drop the bullshit marketing on this one?

Heh, more than once i've been called on a computer tech problem, only to arrive and just press the power button on the computer/printer/other hardware...
Also, lol at all your comments, guys. Those about trying to convince yourself this game has "potential or SHOULD have it and crying abut poor technical level of the game.

That's for preordering and not reading different reviews first before stupidly throwing your money away on something that doesn't even exist.

Well done for all of yous! :)

It is likely to get considerably better down the road. How much better and how far down the road....???

Sorry if this is obvious, since I don not follow the forums so often. So is (was) this the AAA game which was mentioned in some presentation about GOG future plans sometimes in the beginning of the year?

That, or indie games have decided to adopt the AAA business model.
low rated

How is the trolling going 10 year old trash?
Still mad your computer is garbage and you can not play?

avatar
skeletonbow: Apparently the game is very unstable for some folks, and others get terrible performance with 20FPS or lower with super high end hardware.
Or it is a bunch of raging 10 year old morons with worse computer imagined... and just lying?

Children like to lie and boost saying they have super computer 2.0 and actually have super garbage 0.02
Than bought the game thinking like every other game company the min requirements didn't mean the MIN REQUIREMENTS...

They found out the hard way...
Same happened with fallout 4

Need to take breath after four hours just straight play... just now.

richlind33: It's got to be there somewhere. But don't get too excited because it's about 50/50 if it'll fire up for you without a patch.

sumeetvc: Looked everywhere and can't find it. It showed up as preorder for weeks. Now that it is released it has disappeared totally. I've looked in browser and GOG galaxy. Very frustrating.
I've had this happen a couple of times before with other games.
I was able to fix it when someone posted a link to a GOG "account refresh". Clicking that link fixed it for me anyway. Not sure if it'll work, since it's only a bookmark I saved from a couple years ago, but here it is:
https://www.gog.com/account

If that doesn't help, maybe someone here knows what I'm talking about and can post a better link? I'm really a novice at this sort of thing. All I know is that it worked in my case.

Edit: That link appears to be identical to the regular account page, so I'm not sure why it worked for me at all, but it's worth a shot. Maybe it just refreshes the account page? Like I say, I'm a novice user. Maybe someone else could explain how this works?

Why so mad, lil buddy?
Yikes too many comments to read. I ended up pre-ordering on GOG because it worked out to be the cheapest way for me an Australian and I only did that since a colleague at work had pre-ordered on PS4 and I kind of suckered myself in to doing what I don't do, pre-order (usually only exception is cd project games).

He has had it for a few days. He was a little disappointed that he thought he would be repeating a lot of the same things over and over, but he is a little more optimistic after reading forum posts on things he had overlooked in the game, though he feels it will need content packs to keep it interesting and introduce new things.

Apparently if two people land on the same planet at the same time, they can't actually see each other, all game experiences are separate only really naming things that you discover filters through to the universe you all share.

Downloaded the game in the early hours of the morning after I got back from a concert and went to bed. I'll try the game out tomorrow probably.

AlienMind: Nevertheless I salute each one buying this because it indeed IS revolutionary in the department of seamless planet to planet travel.
I am not sure what sort of revolution you are alluding to. The thing you describe as revolutionary was done already a long time ago. For example Frontier 2: Elite, which was released about 23 years ago, running on old Amiga (AGA) systems (and other platforms). I guess, what you're alluding to is the more or less seamless transition between space flight and planet walking. But i am not sure whether that would be revolutionary either...

(EDIT: Some minor spelling mistake corrections...)
