UPDATE: The first No Man's Sky update is now out!
It's a much-awaited bundle of fixes, as well as compatibility and performance improvements and you can grab it now via GOG Galaxy auto-updates, or with the newest offline installers.

No Man's Sky a massive science-fiction game set in an infinite procedurally generated galaxy, is available now, DRM-free on GOG.com. Note that the game takes place in one persistent PC universe, shared across GOG and Steam.

In an intergalactic society, only the few set off towards the stars — explorers, those unafraid, those with nothing to lose. They set off never to come back as far as any of us are concerned. And thus, we still look up at an infinite sky, now within our reach, yet still untouched — a no man's land, a No Man's Sky.

No Man's Sky promises discovery of an infinite, uncharted universe. Its billions of stars, planets, unknown living creatures, breathtaking sights and lonely wastelands — all seamlessly connected — gradually getting catalogued by explorers drawn to the distant mysteries of the horizon, eager to leave a permanent mark in their wake.

The frontier is merciless and dangerous. Exposed to a universe of extremities in your fragile suit and ship, you'll need resources and upgrades to get far — as well as the means to stand your ground in a fight. Whether you journey to the center of it all or seek out the farthest reaches of existence, the trip will not be simple or dull. You'll catalogue things unseen, discover alien artifacts and reveal the greatest mysteries of the universe. If you survive.

Calibrate your suits for extreme insomnia, reach out and touch the No Man's Sky, DRM-free on GOG.com!
Loving it so far :) Been playing for about 3 hours, not had any of the issues anyone else has mentioned. Runs max on my shitty PC as well so again, not sure why some people are having problems cranking the graphics either :(

Hope the kinks get worked out for everyone soon so you can all enjoy it.

Back into the game... no sleep for me this weekend lol

ok cool thanks
avatar
richlind33: So, uh, why are you posting instead of playing? lol
avatar
BKGaming: I played for like 4 hours.. had to get off to take care of some other stuff. Will be on most of the night for sure.

avatar
Crewdroog: sweet! i was really worried that the rumor was true that it didn'tlook much better than the ps4 version.
avatar
BKGaming: Well I'll put it this way, game looks great to me... but that's just my opinion and you might need really good hardware. I have no idea what the game looks like on PS4.
my computer is good, and i can run things like ark and other nonsense on ultra. I'm glad you are having fun w/the game. i'm waiting on a friend's critique and then going from there ;)

Ixamyakxim: I don't know if it'll help, but I was reading reviews here (trying to) and someone put up this:

"...or I fixed them with normal gaming adjustments. 1) Poor frame rate? Force off in GFX Control Panel then set in game to 90 FPS. 2) OpenGL error? Go to \No Man's Sky\Binaries\SETTINGS\TKGRAPHICSSETTINGS.MXML Change Full Screen to False and Boardless to True, change back to Fullscreen in-game, never worry again (caused by HDMI output). 3) Pre-ordered and got upgraded ship but lost Hyperdrive ability when sold? Don't accept DLC until you finish Blueprint quest. 4) Bored? This game is not for you...go play Call of Duty..."

Obviously YMMV but give it a shot?
Thank you for suggesting it but the game never gets in that far. Instant crash to desktop :(

No Man's Sky Support
AUGUST 12 - HELLOGAMES
Whilst many people are enjoying No Man's Sky, we are tracking several issues, and we’re working hard to resolve them as quickly as possible.

1. We have updated our support page with some common issues and workarounds http://www.no-mans-sky.com/2016/08/pc-support/
2. We have updated the auto response from support@hellogames.co.uk to help suggest common fixes, and help gather better info
3. We have filed tickets for everyone who has mailed support and are responding to them in turn.
4. We have gotten back to a lot of people already, who were trying to run the game significantly below min spec.
5. Additionally your bug reports have shown us a handful of key issues we are working to resolve

We’re pulling an all nighter to get through as many issues as soon as possible. Please try to be nice :)

We have been working to get back to people on our three most common crashes on start up:
• Running the game with an Intel card. This is not supported
• No Man's Sky is an OpenGL 4.5 game, and requires latest drivers on most cards, please update
• VC++ Redist 2010 was not included by default. We have updated in a patch, please restart

We are going to create an experimental branch with hot fixes for these most common known issues:
• Shader Cache issue – means that framerate is initially stuttering on some cards. Whilst it resolves itself over time (~1 hour of play), we will fix this issue in a patch.
• SSE 4 – for CPUs that do not support SSE 4, it is causing the game to crash on boot (some of these area technically below min spec, but we don’t want it to crash!)
• Mouse controls jitter on foot – this caused by a combination of certain resolution and GFX card. A fix is in progress.

Some players who have filed a support ticket will begin to be directed towards the experimental branch whilst we test solutions to these issues.

If your issues are not listed above please do mail support@hellogames.co.uk

Thank you,

Game is working great for me so far as well. Played about 2 hours with no crashes and decent performance. It's not twitch shooter fast, but it's not that kind of game.

I really like it. It's immersive and relaxing, though that impression could vary based on your starting planet. The one I'm on gets very cold at night, but there's a cave nearby that's warm. And the cave has gold in it, so it's worth visiting anyway.

Got my ship repaired but haven't blasted off yet. Will be playing more tonight...

Cheers.

System specs, if you care:

AMD A10-7860K APU
XFX AMD RX-470 4 GB video card
8 GB system RAM

So, nothing particularly fancy, though the video card is only a couple of days old.

My first planet was radiated. Had to keep running back to the ship to stay alive until I could escape. Fun. xD

Desert here with these creatures that had what looked like butts for heads...
was almost tempted to name them tinyE's....

Planet had hostile like crab/spider creatures in the cave system (they stay in dark areas)

Named my system Zorkian and planet Zork Prime.

Why are you guys shilling for this broken game?

Garrison72: Why are you guys shilling for this broken game?
Because the game is working just fine for the mass majority of people. or at-least a large portion... and a lot of people are actually having fun?

There is no broken game... game booted up perfect...
Really only thing I had to do with it, was allow it through firewalls.

I have had ZERO performance problems... I had to tone the mouse senstivity even for my liking...
