Better get ready – Nie No Hakoniwa - Dollhouse of Offerings is now out GOG, alongside its Soundtrack and in a Bundle!

A long time ago, an outlander appeared before the village of a long-suffering minority. In his possession was a mysterious "box" which was used by the oppressed to rise up and overthrow their oppressors.

Years later, that oppressed group formed seven noble houses and grew prosperous. However, House Shiki, which stood first among the Seven Noble Houses did not have a son to succeed the family. In order to have an heir, a young man from outside the village was adopted in to the family.

Now on GOG!

i_ni: Never played Japanese horror(+sex?) VN game. Don't care for disturbing scenes, watched a good bunch of Japanese horror, sex and horror+sex movies. (BTW, huge fan of old Japanese movies)
Would you recommend this or other (preferably GoG's) game to explore the genre for the first time? Youtube lists only censored playthroughs so I have no idea of the level of disturbness prev. posters talked about which (of course) peaked my interest.
No. Absolutely not. Stay the hell away from this, it's full of gore, some of it erotic.
A horror porn game?

Likely(see prev inputs), so you've seen it all.

And I'd like to acknowledge the suggestions of the posters so far; will give them a chance, thanks!

If it is like Dead End Aegis and you feel aroused, then your tastes are way more edgy than mine. There were very few willing sexual encounters in the game, but with all the very detailed rapes going on around them, I just couldn't get into that head space. For most people, an erotic game it is not.

Theseekingseer: And Is this the 18+ uncensored version or do we need to apply a patch to enable the adult content therein?
The GOG version is the "all-ages" version. The patch needs to be bought seperately,

When it's patched, it should indicate "R18" in the bottom right corner, instead of "AllAges".

I wonder if the Jast version is all ages as well (since it similarly priced like on Steam (all-ages), and here).

Edit: The Jast version is R18.

on their store? there're AO versions.
Of course it is. Jast only sells 18+ versions of their games. Dave is a man who hates censorship of any kind. He doesn't even like that the Shiravune stuff has mosaics, but there's nothing he can personally do about that.

So where on earth can we get the 18+ patch?

@GOG and Sekai Project:

I will never ever buy any censored game for which I don't have the option to uncensor it.
So this is completely lost money for GOG. I am now not even sure if I should support such a second class treatment by buying the game on JAST instead. I love Sekai Project games but their decision to only offer the all ages version here without any option to uncensor it is completely unacceptable.
Also @GOG and Sekai Project (not that I expect them to be reading but anyway): if censored and non-censored versions of a title exist, would it be too much to ask that you specify what you're selling in the product description? People like to know what they are buying.

Bless his heart. Beyond how people may feel about the censored material: Is it too much to ask to be able to play a game the way its creator(s) intended it to be played? They made the bloody thing. So go with their vision or otherwise, go make your own game and stop meddling with other people's work.

Indeed, it gets annoying that we have to ask and get no official answer. Someone in the community always needs to dig it out. That ain't right.

I see you can buy a patch on denpasoft for 10$ (not sure if it works well with the GOG version), but at that point, you might as well either get it uncensored elsewhere or only get it when you get a bloody good discount to compensate for the fact that you need to fork an extra 10$ to get the real unneutered experience.

high rated
From Sekai Project's discord (and straight from the CEO himself):
R18 content was refused so it is the same as Steam
GOG should have the "you're purchasing a censored version of the game" disclaimer on the listing then.

It's also available on DLSite. If the Denpasoft patch is the same as the DLSite patch, then it's not technically compatible with the GOG version, since it's an installer that looks for the Steam installation directory (and it fails if it's not detected). However the patch files (r18-01.pack and r18-02.pack) are in a subdirectory (as opposed to being packaged within the installer) and can simply be copied to the same folder as the game's exe.

I hate how the passive voice is used here because it leaves a feeling of ambiguity but... I don't know if there's any way to interpret it other than GOG refused R18 content?

That's actually where I got it. One of the last games I bought before DLSite blocked US payment processors.
