got it... thanks gog!
Yet another DLC? Beamdog, a new Paradox, but worse, because they aren't even selling their original content, just paid mods to games made by others a long time ago.

HunchBluntley: Is this a brand new product (as it seems), or another expanded commercial release of a canceled/abandoned premium module from the game's first go-round? (Not implying that there's anything wrong with the latter, BTW.)

Also, I assume it's still got something to do with the Forgotten Realms (hence the tie-in with the tabletop Baldur's Gate campaign product), and simply includes elements from the Planescape [meta-]setting?
Brand new product this time.

Much shorter than the others though, and seems to be a narrative experiment, mainly. And apparently it still has some bugs in it, like faction errors, which cause vital NPCs to attack each other.

nightcraw1er.488: Yes, and do be careful as well. I added the EE version thinking I did not have it already, and it wasn't marked as owned. Now pending a refund!
Wish they would sort this version nightmare out!!!
avatar
UhuruNUru: They do mark it as owned, but only the specific version you bought.

If you buy game, and DLC separately, they would be marked as owned, but even though deluxe edition may be the same content, it would not be marked.
Don't think any algorithm system could keep up with that, as some games may have extras, via one purchase, but not the other, even though the game content is identical.

Even on the store page for this DLC and/or game, you can scroll down to the "Buy series (12) " section to see if you own it or not.

Though you'll get a refund, for your slip up, you simply can't buy the same package, twice for yourself
If you already own that package, you can only buy it as a gift code for somebody else.
Yes, am aware of that. The system seems borked at the moment, thing are appearing as owned/not owned. For instance if I have the deluxe, it should mark the base game as owned, there is no algorithm need for that! It does mark it as owned in some places, the grey tick on the icon for instance.
The problem is, they are deliberately giving things different id’s each time and this breaks the whole thing.
It’s not galaxy focused, so I doubt anything will be done about it though.

Yes, but that’s the new normal.

I can understand criticism about shoddy DLC, but why would releasing DLC per se be a bad thing in this case? This is completely independent content and you're free to either buy it if you think you will enjoy it, or ignore it, without a loss. There will never be a "complete" edition of NWN, it's just too big for that, and if you don't like spending money just download a free community module, same difference.

And why are you complaining about that?

Not only did Beamdog PAID for modules which previously have been left unpaid by Bioware and let their authors to finish them, they are making new content for game remastered by them as Titan Quest Anniversary did and nobody complained about that.

Plus the price is amiable, so what´s the problem with that?
I have a hunch it will somehow tie to Balder´s Gate 3, since that is based on Escape from Avernus and this module takes place around that time.

So is this going to become the new norm now? I see the deluxe edition has disappeared again. Why not just release a season pass then with all the content so we don't have to live with this broken system?

I'm not against modules being sold but, they should at least have major bugs dealt with beforehand.

Seriously. Hey GOG, could we get some curation over here! lol
Well, last time they waited a whole month with the GOG release and let Steam customers 'playtest' the DLC first, if that's what you prefer. ;)

Letting Steam users pay for the privilege of beta testing new games before they release here works very well for me! ;p

I wouldn´t want GOG releases be postponed compared to Steam ones, if possible. many people are always complaining, and rightfully so, that we are often treated as second-class gamers, precisely because of later releases than the Steam ones.

It will take me some time before I will get to this module, so by that time it will be optimized, so I am not worried about that.

Now when it comes to Epic, there I have the same opinion as you ;)

Why restrict it to Steam users, I avoid day one purchases, on most stores, and let those fools that rush to buy, be my beta testers.

I'm not biased though, I accept Beta testing from all release day fools, be they on Steam, Origin, Uplay, Epic, and even GOG.
I'll wait 6 months, or more, get the game nicely patched, and much cheaper, it's win-win all the way.
Even better if modded, as they will often fix what the devs missed.
